The fact you highlighted Jubilee and Bloodtide makes me very happy! I was very fortunate to see Maggie on stage in Nottingham with Nick when they did Dracula together and Evelyn will always be my favourite Sixth Doctor companion. Long may Six's adventures continue!
Colin has a sizeable chunk of the best Big Finish stories and his 6th Doctor has been through a huge renaissance. I started with The Apocalypse Element and his adventures have been a blast ever since. Thank you Big Finish, and thank you so much Colin for breathing new life into your Doctor for the last 20+ years ❤
This is absolutely true and I can vouch for that. The stories on the Sixth Doctor are a complete banger. You can listen to practically any story, and there's always something unusually cozy and dark about them. I think his stories are effectively nostalgic and that's a huge strength for them. It's also what any fan would've loved to see about Colin's Doctor, had he stayed in the role.
@@ReversedPolarity you're absolutely right. I've recently gone back to listen through his stories with Charlie, starting with The Condenmed which is excellent. But if I want to spook myself, I listen to The Nowhere Place. That story has the cozy and dark in multple extremes and Colin's performance is so gripping as he tries to work out whats happening and protect Evelyn.
@@1987TimeLord ah yes, I did enjoy the Nowhere Place (I vaguely remember the Condemned though, maybe I should revisit his run at some point). Then again, I love practically everything with the Sixth Doctor and Evelyn. I don't know why, but their relationship just seemed to work together and they were really well-leveled. I preferred Charlie with Eight but she does have some great moments with Six too. I also think his modern stuff from Main Range was pretty dark and cozy too, especially on rainy days. His encounters with Jago and Litefoot are also golden to listen to. They were already likable characters, but Big Finish really went the extra mile with them.
This brought me back to when the Doctor would address us, the children behind the sofas, in the 90s and tell us to not be afraid, and to come with him.
Visually stunning! Just look at the various enemies that Ol' Sixie has encountered, plus the surprise appearances from all the companions that he's travelled with. This is a perfect trailer to celebrate 40 years of Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor (even more of him)!
A fitting celebration of Colins television and big finish years. A truly brilliant trailer, showcasing why Old Sixies audios are among the best. Thank you, big finish, for bringing us endless Colin. Ps. Love the wink in the intro, looks and works so much better than the actual one
I don’t think there’s any greater redemption story in Doctor who than 6 and Mel. The state of those characters on tv relative to what we get now, especially in the most recent 6th Doctor arc, is just unbelievable. Every doctor might be the best doctor, but the 6th doctor may genuinely be the best doctor - and that’s thanks to Colin and big finish.
How much I wish we had got more of Colin's sixth incarnation on tv and in his more fully realised and so passionate Big Finish vibe. I know that was the intention of JNT and co. but with all the issues taking hold both behind and on the screens it was never to be. It's great for fans as we buy and play the audios but I still feel Colin deserved to have received the same love on the tv screen and regret it wasn't to be. Peter Capaldi got his tenure to develop his charcterisation arc but Colin had it removed from him. As for the actor himself he remains a true gentleman and fan of the show. His graceful nature is impressive.
Colin Baker was a wonderful Doctor! It took me 30+ years to realise, but he was such a breath of fresh-air after Peter Davidson's drippy 'wet lettuce' Doctor. Colin Baker did wonders in the face of some truly awful production decisions, behind the scenes bickering and backstabbing between Eric Seward and JNT, and dreadful dialogue - a real surprise given the involvement of the great Robert Holmes in the TOATL arc. The characterisation was more like that of Douglas Adams, which is not a compliment. I only wish they'd let Colin Baker play the Doctor 'darker' and more brooding - he even wanted to wear all black, but they wouldn't let him - apparently looking and behaving like a clown with bipolar was what the show needed [sigh]... I love watching the interviews with Colin and Nicola on the DVDs. They are both very philosophical about the experience - with Nicola strongly defending Colin and sharing his frustration with how the show was handled during that time. They remain very great friends apparently, and I would love to see them reprise their roles onscreen at some point - as is the wont of New-Who with its numerous classic call-backs.

Oh man.. I wasn't feeling great today, but the Doctor came along and made me feel better. That was amazing. You have to love Old Sixie.

Crazy since it wasn't on TV during the 90s lmao

Love the various references to past Big Finish Sixth Doctor adventures, like the Dalek from 'Jubilee'. ❤

Big Finish have done wonders for ole Sixie & produced some epic stories.

*WE ARE SO BACK!*
I'm so glad to have all of the older cds there are so nice and I really do enjoy them thank you big finish 😊👍👏👏👏👏
You're very welcome
This trailer is sick
Like me? I'm not 42 now! Bugger - I was hoping for a remix of the Trial theme!
Mathew sharp was in one story, I don't know why he gets a mention
Possibly so they could kind of rhyme with "Mrs Clarke".
That was incredible!
😮
Can you imagine a trailer being done like this back in 1980s, wouldn't it have been fabulous
This is gonna be fantastic
Okay I'm sold 😮
Could we please have a similarly amazing trailer for the Fourth Doctor’s 50th anniversary in December?
This was beautiful ❤❤
Wow, very cool video
Thank you very much!

They did Tales of the TARDIS recently in character. Six's appearance is explained as it being a dreamscape setting, like in Power of the Doctor.
