I liked the 12-string but felt like the 6-string was a little too thin. Sounded good, but just needed something heavier/thicker. So maybe a set with electric lead and bass but the 12-string playing the rhythm parts?
Schism was the closer in Charlotte last month... During the interlude gold flakes starting raining from the ceiling. With the lasers and smoke and the music it was just a crazy experience.
I've seen Tool and A Perfect Circle a few times. The no phones thing has been standard for years. I love the idea of living in the moment and enjoying the performance you paid for instead of worrying about taking a video. Some of the best live performances I've ever been to.
That 12 string is beautiful, and the fact that its Irish made makes me want it even more. "how can one man stop an entire room from taking their phones out?" Respect.
I saw Tool for the first time in November - Maynard said the exact same thing to the crowd in Toronto. I couldn't have been more psyched that they followed through with making people put their phones away. Thanks for the content!
Makes you really enjoy the moment instead of seeing the concert through your phone. I was gonna go but I didn’t like their setlist, went to see the tool cover band instead last month
I saw them here in Knoxville last year, were freaking awesome, they pick different songs to play at each concert and different ones to let you film at each concert. Its like getting a unique performance every time. Pretty damn awesome
@ileutur6863 source my guy? Same tour two shows last year, my buddy saw them a few weeks before me in a different city, a few songs (tool so like 20-30 minutes of the show lol) were different on the track list. It could be that they have two sets they switch between while on tour but I can guarantee you they are not exactly the same at each. And they pick a different song to let everyone take phones out and film.
On this leg of the tour, they’ve played the same setlist, but switch out two songs. The second song can either be Jambi or The Pot and the last song can be either Schism or Stinkfist. I think that’s more or less what they do on every tour. I think they added one song at one of the Madison Square Garden shows, but on this current tour, that’s the only time they added a song.
Tool is the only reason I play guitar. I've seen them live twice, once in an arena and another outside at a festival, and they put on the most amazing live experiences you could ever imagine. Seen plenty of amazing creative performances but none of them top a tool show. Can only dream that they get to play a venue like the las vegas sphere one day cause they'd be the best concerts of all time
I've seen Tool twice and both times it was a terribly boring performance. The music was good, of course, but their live shows are dull. Lasers and lights were impressive in the 70s and 80s. Maynard spent the whole time facing the wall. No one moved besides to walk off stage while they left a delay pedal echoing to infinity.
@@riot057 Idk they've only been performing that way for 3 decades, it sounds like you went to a Tool show expecting people to t-rex walk across the stage and crowd surf like it's a turnstile show. Both amazing bands and experiences, but it sounds like you're just a cringe zoomer fan. Especially since you didn't know that's how they've been performing since the 90s. My dad purchased his rolls Royce of guitars. A left handed Emerald in green. It was the Cherry on top of his collection. Unfortunately he passed away about 3 months after it arrived. Beautiful instrument
I saw Tool around 2015. I barely even *had* a smartphone by then, so it didn't occur to me to take video. I remember that concert in such vivid detail. I remember looking to either side and seeing other fans just standing up to see better, the blue lighting, the slightly annoying lazers. The faint smell of beer and weed. The energy of the crowd. Danny Carey's fucking crazy drum solo between sets. Memories I'll treasure til my deathbed.
At Jack Whites concerts in Berlin ,Germany you had to lock up your phone in a little bag they provide - if you are leaving the actual concert hall, they unlock it - lock it up again if you go in. It really made the whole concert experience better . Great move by Jack White + he always releases great video and photos after the concert , so you still got your memories. I think Tool made a great move
At the Jack White concert , everybody had to put their cell phone in a special pouch that locked the phone inside . At the end of the concert on the way out you got your phone unlocked et gave back the pouch . It was kind of cool a concert without all the light from phones screens .
Yeah I’m never going to one of his concerts again because of that. Pretentiousness at its finest. Look what rock and roll has become, rockers are no more than schoolmarms. Rock really died with Kurt Cobain
@@pedrog7663Maybe it's not so much pretentious art wankery as it is getting tired of getting blinded by every flash in an arena when the lights get put low. I think people are wrong to make an argument against it for art's sake - it's fucking annoying, that should be enough reason right there.
Man, respect to Tool. I'm someone who likes to record the first couple of seconds of each song so I can go back and re-experience the set in the order that they played it in. I always put my phone away after the first few second and really exist in the here and now. More people should just exist in the here and now. There is a happy medium to be had.
I love Tool. I'm a devout Maynard fan. I first learned of them from Sober. I was a singer in a band. I spent a decade training myself to sound like all my hero's. Maynard, Vedder, Cornell, Staley, and Jim Morrison. I used to do a perfect Maynard James Keenan. My guitar players played the songs, I sang them. I learned guitar late in life after I lost my voice for two years at age 42. I've never sang the same since. I used to be a perfect clone of all my hero's. I was a monster. But even Maynard can't sing like he could when he was 25 anymore. I really appreciate this video. I had no idea you were a Tool fan. I've watched hundreds of your video's over the years. I got to see A Perfect Circle at the play the eMotive album in concert at the Marquee Theater in Tempe, AZ years ago and it was the first and only concert I've been to. I saw them three months ago, which was the first time in 17 years, which from 2001 through 2007. I saw them five times.
I've got my tickets for June! That ending gave me shivers. I really hope we get something similar.
Their live show is exceptional!
I just got my first acoustic electric and it's been tuned in DROP D almost the entire time!
I didn't even know when i clicked this video so I'm very excited to learn this stuff.
It's such a fun tuning to learn on.
Another song to check out is MIST by John Butler!
It's quite fun and leaves room for improvisation if you like.
He also uses a 12 string a lot so I'm sure you'll have fun with his music (though it takes a lot of work to get to his level)
Thanks for sharing this!
I have a whole new respect for Tool
Have to say, I love your version of this song. I listened to the original a lot, yet I always love a well-done acoustic cover. So.. 👌
As a life long tool fan we respect the band enough to fulfill there wishes because the show is worth it, plus he's honestly right. You truly cant enjoy the show if your worried about filming and getting the perfect shot
To understand music, you must listen to it. But so long as you are thinking, 'I am listening to this music,' you are not listening. - Alan Watts
Being present is living life consciously. Kudos to Tool. I can't wait to see them live in the UK in a few months.
Great playing - and both those guitars sound fantastic!
I love your thing man. You are incredible.
Amazing job and amazing sounding guitars.
Yeah, just saw them in Atlanta. What a show! This band is a force, still! I dig these Emerald guitars.
It was cool, i saw them live, and it was awesome that people had to put their phones away.
Invincible sounds ridiculously good on those guitars. Wow. Tool isn’t just music. It’s a life experience. 🙏🤘
That 12 string is gorgeous 😍😍 & it sounds amazing
Those guitars sounded AMAZING through my studio monitors, nice recording!!
Hope you dug the opener too! Elder is Dope! Couldn't be a better fit for a Tool show
Totally agree, Tool are incredible live! Lateralus absolutely went off when they came to New Zealand in Feb(?) 2020 🤩
