I'd like to add Troubleshooter: Abandoned Children to the list. Being a Korean superhero srpg, it's got some unique flavor to it in the category of Xcom-like games vs FFT-like or Fire Emblem-like.
@@TurnBasedLovers I suppose. All of the characters have classes/skills they can get pretty quickly once you recruit the character, but a big part of the game is finding/crafting/combining passive skill equips. These passive skills work better on some characters than others and most importantly a lot of the passive skills will have a set bonus when 2-4 of the right passives are equipped together. These set bonuses can be crucial to success. But as far as what you do outside of combat, it's all just prepping your roster for the next combat round via accepting/completing quests and buying/crafting gear or passives.
Mutant Year Zero, Wasteland 3, Metal Slugs Tactics, Jagged Alliance 3, and Gears Tactics are really good 🔥 Gotta try out the rest on this list! I absolutely adore the grpahics, animations, and gameplay gimmicks of Mario & Rabbids Kingdoms, but unfortunately the games are just far too easy
"A quick note: all of these games include a strategy layer (even if it’s fairly light in some cases) and, of course, tactical combat" Man you are great, this is what makes an xcom like (strategy layer + tactical combat) what a lot of "Top" lists fail to understand, most of the lists comprise of turnbased combat games as a main criteria. Thank you for the list.
Girls Frontline 2. Other than the skippable suggestive outfits and leisure activities, this game is like an anime XCOM. It’s been out for almost three weeks but the game is AMAZING and so are the events. Free to play friendly but can spend if you’d like meta characters and dupes on characters. PC and mobile for sure.
What I wanted from X Com 2 we didn't really get. I was hoping for it to be more of an insurgency, where you could prepare a battlefield and then ambush the Advent. We got bits of that but not really, I wanted to be planting IEDs in the paths of Advant vehicles, blasting their troops from stealth, winning over the locals and having them assist, things like that. We sort of got this in the form of the Reapers, but not enough imo. X-Com 2 missions feel too reactive, I want to feel like my forces are the ones starting things and the Advent are the ones reacting to us.
Couldn't finish phoenix point, too many things come at you at once and I've tried multiple playthroughs. Micromanagement bloat. Gears tactics combat was so damn good. But mission variety was bad and it was super short. I enjoyed chimera squad I'm surprised it wasn't in the list. I meant to buy classified France. The turn limits of XCOM 2 was a turn off for me and I understand why they did it but I used a mod to disable it. I just want the combat.
Wait Plasma Cannons shouldn't be standard issue in the Battletech game. Plasma Cannons weren't developed until 3069 while the game takes place in the mid to late 3020s and early 3030s. Even the Infantry Plasma Rifles which were predecessors to Mech scale Plasma weapons weren't developed until the mid 3060s

For sure it's AMAZING and undervalued. 2 is coming! :)
Needs to drop on platforms. Heard far too much about this game…
Does it have a strategy layer beside the combat system?

I bought this on steam for my backlog, heard good things
Has anyone else been thinking that a StarCraft turn-based tactical RPG would be awesome?
This video opened with the best XCOM-like games 👏

wasteland 3 is a story driven CRPG, isnt even close to XCOM, or baldurs gate is? XD turns doesnt made the game xcom like
Great list! So happy to see Cyber Knights included. 😁
I have almost all of these - I still haven't tried Xenonauts yet. Cyber Knights and JA3 are definitely worth buying
Jagged Alliance and Cyber Knights are two awesome turn based games that offer excellent and challenging game play.

Hey. Thank you so much 🧡🧡🧡
Crown Wars: Black Prince. Setup is in the medieval age, but is a real good one.
Played 7 of these :)
Awesome. Which one is still missing?
@@TurnBasedLovers Classified France, Forgotten Unbroken and Mechanicus.
Overwatch feature❤❤❤
Nice choices I knew 3/4 of them but never played cause I bought Xcom2 just a month ago and got no time to run it properly and relaxed 😅

Chaos Gate - Deamonhunters is also on PS4/PS5.

Never heard of forgotten but unbroken.
Released lately 👍😉

marcello what about kingsartur kingstale ciao
Surprised Marvel Midnight Suns is not mentioned.
ily
why 'like xcom' and not 'like jagged alliance' ?
Probably because of my roots. I grew up with x-com
You forgot about Wasteland 3 and I forgive you, but don't do that again! 😅

Have played a decent amount of Vanilla Battletech and as far as I know plasma weapons are not in the game
First!
Awesome my friend 🧡
