Gorgeous footage. When Scott said “1200 grains of powder” I laughed out loud. What an amazing piece that thing is.
He used even more than that for the last shot, a full quarter pound. The impact it made on the dummy, and the way it just sprayed out radially like that, almost reminded me of a hypervelocity impact test, like a ball bearing hitting steel at Mach 6.
You should make a video on why these objects have that flash of light! Love your videos Dustin.

I love how calm, knowledgeable and scientific Scott is when it’s for the slow mo channel. The Kentucky Ballistics channel videos are great but seeing this always makes me want him to tone down the American and just talk about firearms. The dude clearly knows a lot.
At 11:43, frame perfect, you can see the shot creating a spark for a third time when it hits the barrel. Insane amount of energy.
This continues to be one of my favorite collabs. Scott always has great chemistry with other creators but something about the way these three interact always makes me smile.

Before the punt gun was turned on waterfowl, it was used on passenger pigeons. While not the sole culprit, it's pretty widely accepted it was this gun that finished off the species.

My dad fired a 2 Guage punt gun out of a Sears aluminum boat in the 1960's. He fired directly off the starboard side. Took out 6 ducks and the boat he was in. Recoil stove in the side of the rowboat 😂
On days not good for duck hunting (clear, calm, & dry) my Dad would drop by the Game Warden station, old punt guns were hung on the wall. It seemed they were as big as your arm and the warden told me hunters would use nails as shot.

Please do a slow-mo of strumming and picking different types of guitar strings (steel and nylon). I would love to see how the strings behave in slow-mo. Breaking them could also get some cool shots.
thats actually a pretty novel idea, not only would they look neat vibrating but when the strings break they whip so quickly and violently Ive almost lost an eye

Drums would cool too but probably more difficult to capture.
Someone asked about this at RTX a few years back, they said they tried it but the results weren't very interesting. It was basicly just the string moving up and down slowly.
There's a decent video of exactly that already on TH-cam, featuring Kirk Hammet of Metallica.
It's not THIS level of slow-mo, but it's pretty cool anyway.

Just think of the ignition spark that the meteorite gave off when it hit the Earth at Meteorite Arizona. Then imagine the one that killed the dinosaurs. Even the golf balls were igniting on impact. So much energy it would be interesting to get some science guys out there to give a little info on it.

I'm fairly sure that the ignitions happening, especially seeing the non-ferrous projectiles/targets producing the same effect, is a very simple form of dieseling, or a "fire piston". i think, Essentially, the air is compressing (seen in the "shockwave" in front of most bullets) and generating heat. it's not enough to ignite the air itself but the second it has enough fuel to create a reaction (through some high-carbon dust from the truck, or the golfballs disintegrating, or the ballistics gel turning to mist) that for a split second the mixture is correct to cause a small flame.
The group of balls that impacted next to the door were right on the frame reinforcement joint, which allowed the outer layer to deform more, which then acted like an anvil and helped to split the outer sheeting. I think that split in the metal caused the "sparks".
