Hi guys, so this video was a monster to edit, since I was actually talking for over one hour! 😭😭😭. In my haste to bring it down to under 20 minutes, I totally cut out the 8th category of books! These are books related to you child’s current interest, however silly it may seem to you. Invest/borrow a couple of books about the particular topic they are obsessed with in the last few weeks. It brings them so much joy! Be it caterpillars or cars, or in Vikrant’s case rockets, astronauts and anything to do with space. I try to choose atleast one informative book and one story book about his current interest. This way, curiosity and imagination go hand in hand. Links to his current faves in the description. Thanks again for watching and hope this was useful! 🤗😘
Can you upload a vlog of how you read books to him ? I just wanna see how you make him get engaged with books. My lil one is one year old, he hardly sits down to read books. He never listens or responds
As usual, great content! There are many mom entrepreneurs in India who sell preloved books, those who are gonna buy books, check out such pages/groups along with amazon. I’m a Big fan of your parenting Vidya😍
Awesome content! We will definitely add a few more to our collection from your suggestions. Thank you. Can you also show how you store and or display your books to your toddler please?
Hi vidya .I am mom to 2year old...I loved your categories..Your narration..I agree some books are inappropriate theme or illustration wise. Having said that I have found great collections in tulikabooks...Stories are so real.looking forward for more videos 🙂
I am a big fan of yours, but this video has hit the cord with me more than any other. I love the way you a thought behind everything. Like why it why not you chose a particular book. Lots of love to you and Vikrant
Excellent book review, I keep following you and buy them according for my 17month baby, keep doing book review as we get some insight and really helps in investing in good book with a good message that going to our next generation . Lots of love and support to you
Hi Vidhya, your videos are awesome and the kind of knowledge you passes on for new moms is incredible. Im a mom and lately I am immensely stressed about the inhuman events happening in our society especially to women and children. I can vouch for many other parents who feels the same. As a parent how can we teach our children to care for themselves in the public? How can we keep our children safe? Would love to hear your thoughts and best practices followed. Thanks!
Nice info.. my daughter is 10 month old . I wanted recommendation for brown brown bear vs brown bear bear lift up version. Please suggest as I m too confused
Thank you so much for the many many book recommendations! I was wondering if you or anyone reading this comment would have any recommendations for children's books written in Bangla/Bengali, or English to Bangla/Bengali, or children's books about Bangladesh.
Hi Vidya , Thanks for such informative n detailed video. Share your viewson Julia Donalson, any book recommendation for the series or any of ur son's favourite. Many Thanks !
Thanks Vidhya..this is extremely useful. We have got some of the books that you recommended and my son loves them. I don’t know if you already have it..but there is a collection of books called Discover India state by state by Sonia Mehta that is very informative. It’s available in India but I Am not sure about the US.
There are many Indian publishers like Pratham books, Tulika books who have great collections and pink are for girls blues are for boys which speak about stereotypes.
Hi..hru ? Just want your help to select book on knowing about emotion for 16 month old. She likes and enjoy when I read books to her. But at times I see her sometimes getting angry or sad when I say no for any things she wants to do as it may hurt her or anyone.
Hi! Vidya. Love your videos and your videos have helped me during my pregnancy and now with my little girl. On books from India or Indian author..I found " Amma Tell me about" series by Bhakti Mathur really nice. Other interesting book which I apparently came across from a video on a youtube channel Happa Family is "One Rainy Day" by Shobha Viswanath. I think you should check these.
I know they are popular, but I personally don't find them appropriate. They have things I'm uncomfortable reading to toddlers about: lying and general trickery. Older children might appreciate the humor, but younger ones find it confusing and scary in my opinion. The only one we have is "the snail and the whale", and even in that, the teacher is portrayed as rude. The stick man looks ok, but I'm waiting until around 5 years to read those.
I agree with Vidya on some of her books but Some like the Monkey puzzle, the snail and the whale , what the ladybird heard are very clean without any objectionable content and really good reads
"unconditional parenting" by Alfie Kohn, love this one. The awakened family by Shefali Tsabary The Brave Learner - Julie Bogart Thanks for showing interest in parenting books!
Hi Vidya.. Nice video again... one question I had is that, I live in India and the links you have provided are from amazon.com. I then have to Rem the name of the book and buy the same from amazon.in. If I do that I guess you will not be getting any concessions even if I do buy the book
So sorry, the links to amazon.in will be up tonight, it got very late editing last night and my son woke up so couldn't add all the links. All my videos always have links for both websites, and I have referral links for both, so it doesn't make a difference for me. Thanks!
Hi, please delete comment if inappropriate. Where do you buy children's in the US? The ones in amazon are a bit on the higher side, not much luck on thrift books as well.
Hey, not inappropriate in any way! I forgot to mention, but amazon has great deals on used books. In the same link, look underneath the price for "used and new" section, I've bought used books from amazon and never been disappointed.
Forgot to add, the library systems in the US are very good. You can get a membership for free, and even get books from different libraries is town. They have sales every few months where you get books for as cheap as 50 cents! Lookout for them, we find really good ones there.
