    Hi Laura! I am from Brazil and unfortunately my gpa is low because the pandemic complicated every public school in Sao Paulo, which was the most affected city in the world by the pandemic. Here, the healthcare system collapsed and we faced the most critical situation in the history. The government ignored the education for a long time. They tried their best to not abandon our studies, but their proposals were not sucessful. They wanted us to follow the contents that have been transmitted on TV, but everything we were studying at school was not being taught on TV. So I decided to study alone with Khan Academy during 1 year and 6 months. The consequences were big to me and to many students. We did not get grades for more than 1 year. But I confess my performance could have been excellent if the pandemic did not complicate the students' situation that much. But now, there's nothing I can do to change this. My history during my elementary school was excellent, I was one of the best students in my old school. Plus, I got admitted 3 times consecutive to the second phase of the The Brazilian Mathematical Olympiad of Public Schools, and I even won a respectful honorable mention certificate in my first participation, which only 4,64% had won. What can I do to overcome my low gpa?

    • @LaurasLifeInJapan
      @LaurasLifeInJapan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Darely! I’m sorry to hear about your situation! I can only recommend you to write a really good essay or motivation letter on how the pandemic has impacted your lives and education in your home country. The admission’s officers don’t only look at your GPA so if you explain your situation well and show them your motivation to study at Ku Leuven I don’t see why there isn’t a chance of getting admitted 🤗 good luck!!

    Hi Laura, my concern when choosing KU Leuven is that I couldn’t fit in the Belgium society because I only speak English. I’m afraid that there are less part-time job opportunities for me because most Belgium speak Dutch or French. Is language really a problem, especially in a big city like Brussels? Thanks a lot for your answer

    • @LaurasLifeInJapan
      @LaurasLifeInJapan  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! Thank you for your comment! I don't think you should have too many problems in Belgium even if you only speak English. Especially in larger cities like Brussels and Leuven. Most of the population can hold conversations in English (except for a small group of elderly maybe) and I know for a fact that there are multiple parttime (student) jobs available for English speakers. :) I hope this helps.

      Hi Clara! Before the January exams we usually have 2 weeks of revision time during the Christmas break and before June exams we get a 1 week revision period. We also have 2 weeks of Easter vacation and many students use that time too to prep for the upcoming exams.

    Hi, I have applied for the bachelor's in business engineering program a week ago. I heard that the exams at KU Leuven are very tough and a lot of students fail. While I think I will be at least able to pass, I am not sure if my grades would be great. My question is how negatively do these grades affect future job opportunities for KU Leuven students specifically as their exams are tougher than other universities in the world according to what I have heard.

    • @LaurasLifeInJapan
      @LaurasLifeInJapan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Aahaan! I’m happy to hear that you’ve applied! Exams at KU Leuven are indeed difficult and I’m talking about what you can expect in my recent new video so if you want you can check it out here: th-cam.com/video/h5QDEBamK3o/w-d-xo.html
      In Belgium 🇧🇪 employers in general don’t ask for your grades when applying for a job because they know it’s hard to graduate from a Belgian university. If you do get very good grades you might graduate with cum laude/ magna cum laude etc and that might give you an advantage but just having a diploma from ku Leuven without the praise won’t affect you negatively 😁

    What's the difference between KU Leuven and UC Leuven-Limburg

    • @LaurasLifeInJapan
      @LaurasLifeInJapan  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Felix! Thank you for your question! Ku Leuven is a university while UC Leuven-Limburg is a college. Pretty much all students at KU Leuven move on to a masters degree after they’re done with their bachelors and only then go into the job market. UC Leuven-Limburg students as well as other college students typically go job hunting after completing their bachelor degree.
      Both are forms of higher education in Belgium but university is more theoretical and college focuses more on practical skills. I hope this clears it up for you 🤗

All universities are good in Belgium, although each have their different strengths> I did like my first major but I couldn't see myself actually do the work in the future. I was more interested in the scientific and medicinal aspect rather then the physical treatment so that's why I changed my major.

      Hi Semih! Thank you for your message! I’m happy to hear that you want to attend Ku Leuven! You will definitely be able to find a parttime job in Leuven, many international students have one. Once you are a ku Leuven student, you can head over to the ku Leuven student job shop (a webpage that has so many parttime job offers for students) and they are all reliable because the university screens them for you! In Belgium, Sat and act scores aren’t used. To study medicine at bachelor level you’ll need to be in possession of a high school diploma, have adequate knowledge of Dutch since there are no English programs available beneath master level, and pass the national entrance exam for medicine studies.
