At 70 I have ridden bikes for more than 50 years. Life has got in the way for a lot of those years but I have managed several memorable European trips. Watching you two, I can't help but wish that I could go back in time. I know you say it all the time, but for all of you younger folk, think hard about what is important in life and follow your dreams. ❤
Thank you so much. We feel like this, Life is short and we dont want to waste our time doing things we dont enjoy. We have given up on less important dreams like owning a House to make these trips happen, its our Real passion in life. We love that people want to share in it with us, so thanks for coming along with us and subscribing to the channel. See you in the next one
Rich & Ewa.
Well, I thought you two really enjoyed yesterday’s riding….but this latest ride was just magical. So please you’re soaking up the roads, weather and terrific scenery! Thought the cafe might have been your first attempt at branching out into the restaurant business!! I hope you took advantage and asked the owners to sell some T shirts on your behalf! Your first overseas clothing outlet!!
Keep up the great work!!
haha We missed a opportunity there!! Honestly everytime we go outside on the bikes here we seem to be able to improve on the previous day and with no effort at all!
“Wobblies”…..a new one to me, living in Cambridge there are Wobblies everywhere, many ignoring red lights, shouting abuse at motorists……etc AND using the potholed roads when there are newly constructed cycleways everywhere. I’ll stop now as I’m starting to rant!
Great to see you enjoying the twisties in the sun when it’s cold and raining here.🇬🇧
I’ve never understood road cycling, Ive ridden pushbikes on the road and it’s stressful as you know you are in everyone’s way, I’m too slow for the road and illegal to ride on the path. For me I enjoy riding along the riverine mountain bike in the woods, but each to their own
Absolutely stunning views ! And the best riding roads I’ve seen in a while, no wonder you are smiling from ear to ear 👍🏼
It’s fantastic here Dave, even the quality of food here is miles ahead of the uk, the fruits are double the size of the uk. Everytime we go away we are reminded that we get all the rubbish at home. And then there’s the sunshine ☀️
Not sure we want to come home again 😂
Being sat in my home at this moment in time, Spain looks rather appealing when comparing it to good old blighty, congratulations on raising my spirits this wet and dreary day.
Hi Leon, Don’t worry have faith that this year the uk is due a fantastic long lasting summer for us all to ride in 😀☀️☀️☺️
Your right about the himilayan. Iv had mine for 4 years and believe it's the ducks nuts. Really good on fuel. I'm no rev head so enough power for my adventures. I knew you would be impressed. Very very affordable. ATB and really enjoying the series.
That road is incredible. I’ve ridden a couple of times around that part of Spain and never knew roads like that were there
Same for us we have passed by previously and never explored this area
i am 76 me and the missis toured when ever we could on my f6c i had it from new 97 thousand miles i have got a nc 750x now you vids bring back so many good memories thank you both
You need to ride 3k more miles on the f6c, gotta round that up!
Well done to you guys, it provides life long memories and much happiness together
Hiya, No words for this episode, you've said it all.... brilliant.
SteveD
Thanks so much for being with us to share it Steve, What a country for motorcycle touring Spain is
More fabulous escapism for us after another foul day! Those views are just incredible and it's definitely somewhere to put on the list! That cafe sign was remarkable, I bet you couldn't believe it!
What are the odds! Some things in life are just fate, meant to be...
@@ontheroadadventure exactly! We went to look at a car for me and the reg plate had my initials in order! I said that car was meant for me so we bought that one! 😄
We are great believers in Everything happening for a reason... Never try to force something to happen, if its meant to be.... It will be.
@ontheroadadventure very true!
oh wow, them views from the drone just spectacular, that Himalayan holds its own on them roads that's for sure, just a great video guys as usual, and you even have shares in the cafe,on the road how canny lol.
That was so strange finding that cafe, and the Owner served us but had no idea, She didnt speak much English but i think she saw our Shirts
Wow, another brilliant video, and you really live life to the full. Thank you for showing what Spain has to offer. I lived in Spain years ago, in fact, back in 87 and 88. It was a shame I was not a motorcyclist , so I cycled. I really admire you both for opting for the freedom of the open road. I am looking forward to the next video.
Thanks so much, i cant tell you the joy it gives us to ride places like this, Motorcycles are our lives and we just cant get enough of being outside in the sun. Its great to have you with us, Do you mind if i ask why you decided to move from Spain? and where did you go?
Glad you had a good day , that’s what it’s all about
It was Superb! Thanks for joining us
Mind-blowing scenery.
It just gets better and Better riding in Spain
Great video. Beautiful scenery, lovely weather, good food and twisty roads. What's not to like.😊
Couldn't agree more!
You were riding in my area and rode past four bars. The bit you did in Almundina was a hundred metres from the village bar.😃 we're so lucky to live here. Enjoy your holiday.
Its often the case we are so close to things but only find out later, thats the trouble with travelling with no real plan, but we kind of like the way it always works out. You are lucky to live where you do, it is Beautiful and we appreciate it allot coming through. Thanks for joining us on the channel
Gotta go look at that part of Spain 🇪🇸 soon 👍
South Spain is Perfect this time of year for a motorcycle trip, In the summer it gets mega hot so using winter to escape the uk makes sense
OMG what a day you had!!!
Absolutely amazing and those bikes did well indeed.
Honestly the riding was just spectacular, Almost unplanned - you just cannot go wrong in this area of Spain, we wish we could stay much longer to Explore the whole country! We need to come back with our own bikes soon, im sure theres so much in Spain to see
Would love to be you right now , amazing scenery and roads , enjoy
Thanks so much, we are glad we can share our adventures with you. See you in the next one
I am out here stopping in Denia. Agree with everything you say its stunning. However, I think you could stop anywhere along the Spanish coast and find amazing twisties wherever. I did an overnight trip to Almeria, the mountains there are incredible. I did the Alto Velefique yesterday, the route starts at Tabernas and goes through the mountains. Probably the best Spanish road I have done. But as I say, the mountains are spectacular the whole length of the coast. Just need to go somewhere and look for the squiggly lines on the map. That road up the Coll de Rates is a nightmare in the morning, hundreds of cyclists going up and down. Great video.
I suspect you are right, We need to come back to spain on our own bikes in the near future and really spend time exploring, We really love the way of life and can see ourselves spending more time here
Another great day ,you can’t go wrong in that area,I’ve cycled up to the Col de rates ,where you put up the drone but only once!!
Fair play to you bud, youve done it one more time than most will, including me
Looked like an awesome day definitely made me wish I was there, enjoy you two 👍🏍😁
Well we are glad in a way you are able to be with us there. Thanks for sharing in it with us
Wot a ride eh ?
Stunning
👍👍
Sometimes thats all there is to say about it! Loved it!
Fantastic roads & twistys, equally fantastic scenery, you certainly excelled yourselves on this trip just Wow!😯 😊
Spain could well become a habit of ours!
Lots of love for the Himi, That's why they have sold so many of them
Yes we can see why, with more and more need for affordable motorcycles this bike is a clear winner when it comes to being frugal and still getting the job done
Hi guys I'm glad you found the Col de Rates as I suggested in an earlier message I was in that exact spot just over a week ago. but please stop making these incredible videos of perfect near empty scenic roads "apart from the pushbikes of course" we want to keep them for ourselves LOL...brilliant vid as always
I woke to Sunshine most days for more than 14 years in madeira portugal, loved it. Came back to Wales a year ago, nothing but bad luck, now the wife is in hospital very ill. Your videos really cheer me up, and also make me very envy of you both. You both take care and drive safely ❤🏴🏍👍🙏
Im sorry to hear about your wife, we would like to wish you both well. Out of interest, what made you leave Portugal for Wales?
@ontheroadadventure for some reason the wife wanted to come back,to be near her sister, also the heat in madeira was getting her down.
We havent experienced a summer in Portugal or Spain yet we need to do it and get a idea of what its really like. I can understand if the heat became unbearable.
What a beautiful area.
Its Stunning, So much to explore on the bikes and you dont even need a route plan, just go ride, youll find amazing things here in Spain
Wow what a ride guys. It would be hard to beat it.
Both choices of bikes are perfect for those roads though I would say the Suzuki SV would have been my choice. Plenty power and light and flickable through those twisties.
Nothing wrong with the Himmy either, it would be a great bike on those roads.
Living the dream guys, stay safe 🙏
We could happily spend our lives playing in these roads, Amazing area to ride any machine. We are in Love with Spain!
Absolutely stunning roads one of my favourite videos of yours so far. Was in Altea last November absolutely blew me away. Definitely have put me in notion of doing that trip. Brilliant channel keep up the good work. You will have to come to Ireland brilliant roads but you won’t get that weather😂
Thanks so much, we have a Wales and Ireland Playlist, we did ring of Kerry etc, but we would like to do less touristy areas next time we come. Any suggestions of what to see?
You want to ride from Sligo area right along west coast and in to county Donegal and then in to Northern Ireland and follow coast road whole way along causeway coast. No motorways just proper rural Ireland with scenery to die for and plenty of twisties
2 spare skinny wheels wouldn't last ½ hr on east Devon roads.
There were rumours of a pothole being filled in January somewhere but it's a best kept secret where,I certainly haven't found it.
It was great going to Spain to see where the money went.
Its dangerous enough riding on whats left of the uk roads with motorcycle tyres, i wouldnt want to be on them push bike ones, but yes in Spain, the roads are immaculate, no Pot holes here, not even up in the hills
There's enough there to keep you editing for the next year.
Sunny Devon it is not.
You'll need to thaw the bikes out with a hairdryer when you get back.
Yes the Olympic cyclists do train in Spain. There are loads of places they practice. Glad you are having a good time. Dont be so sure you could be in the middle of nowhere. You cant get bored with driving round Spain it's so beautiful.
Those Cyclists are super fit, also a bit mad to go that speed on them tiny tyres, but you have to respect them for it even though its not my thing
Hi Rich n Eva what a amazing ride youve had.and that view point rearly spectacular view.take care guys.till nxt time im on the ride with ya ha ha.👍🏍
Isnt this whole area so impressive! We are blown away every day. Spain for the motorcycle touring win!
I shoveled 10 inches of snow from the driveway yesterday here in Ontario. Enjoy your time in the twisties.
Oh wow! That doesnt sound like great motorbiking weather! Sadly we are only here for a short time and then its back to the rain for us too...
@@ontheroadadventure It will be 2 months yet before I get the bike out of storage. By mid April its warm enough to ride.
Do you do fly and hire trips somewhere in winter to get your Motorcycle fix?
@@ontheroadadventure No. I would have to travel to the U.S to rent a bike and they dont like us too much at the moment (Canada).
Whats great about riding a Motorcycle in España is you're spoiled for choice. l ride mostly in the Alicante region...that covers a huge area of mountainous road riding.... Oh, Ah! factor ten...Just a small point Fuel stops can be few and far between...handy to be able to check on the Sat -nav where those facilities are.... Whereas quite small villages in UK may have a petrol station, thats not true of Spain..just something to be aware of..
We had a week out in Spain staying by Altea with Spanish Fly Ride a couple of years back, amazing road up to Coll De Rates. Highly recommend Spanish Fly Ride hosted by Carl.
Its a fantastic area to ride isnt it, we love it here
Just got back from Alicante as a friend got a place over there. Unfortunately didn’t have the bike but will be going back there in a couple of months to the area you are in. Great vid Again. Both of you.
We really recommend this area for some amazing riding! Thanks for joining us on the road, see you in the next one
Hi, it's me again. I went to Spain with a friend back in 1987 to 1988. I was living outside Gibraltar on the Spanish side, and in 1988, there were three IRA terrorist shot in Gibraltar, I think it was the 8th of March. However my friend drove us there, I don't drive. It was the best year of my life. I worked in Gibraltar and would save up money to explore the little villages and towns that were not spoiled by tourists. I came back to England because my brother was getting married, I was placed at the back of the church, I was the family embarrassment, I was a goth, and I was vegan activists, and my family are farmers so we were not on the same page. I was and still am a non conformists.
I have the same issue with having small hands. I think most bikes are set up for men and larger hands.
I also have three brothers. I am 5.8 feet, and my youngest brother is 6.7 feet, I was never really girly and lived in the countryside.
I sat on a bike when I was 6, a family friend, and said to my mother that I really wanted to ride a motorbike when I was old enough to do so.
I would really like to have the courage to do what you are doing. I am about to sixty next month, and I don't feel like I am ageing. Life is short as we remind ourselves. However, we don't live by that reality.
Looking forward to your next video.
Glad you are enjoying, you both look really happy ✌ Look forward to your next output 🏍🏍 🍀
Thanks so much Paul, honestly we are happy here, we love it. We wish we could stay much longer
Your Trip looks so good there in Spain, I really need to get myself out there and away from the rain here
It does wonders to get away mid winter into the sunshine and back on your bike. we recommend it!
Chris Froome does a lot of training around that area. Looks epic.
Fair play to those guys, Super humans!
Yo you did Coll de Rates! That’s our favourite cycling route - going again in May. But really we aren’t like some of those guys you saw. We’re just plodders 😂 The views there are fantastic. I’ve decided we’re going to do some of those same roads when we go on the moto in September, though probably just stay with our friends in Denia.
I can imagine it would be most enjoyable on an electric bike for me! I can understand why so many people want to ride those roads, its superb
I new you would like the Himalayan 👍😊😊😊
When its as economical as it is, its hard to be mean to the Himi! Its almost free motoring! Remarkable
Many thanks. I can bear the unfortunate weather with cheer.
We shall meet however at the ABR which is 4 mi from my abode.
Amazing! Do come and say hello to us, We plan to be there all weekend
CV in a road number means Community of Valencia. Is Sungiro a Polish run place?
Ahh that makes sense thanks. Yes it’s owners are Polish
Watching from Sri Lanka ... Nice try.
LOL you win!
Not jealous. Greeting from a -5 sweden 🇸🇪 👍🤘
Hey johnny, dont worry spring has to come soon and then look at the areas you have to ride! We hope to get to Sweden sometime
I have the 411 and did Glasgow to Lisbon and back last year. I got between 70 and 90 per UK Gallon depending on the road
Did you go on any big roads, Motorways? Do you feel a bit underpowered there? We try to avoid motorways but sometimes it is needed to get to where we need to be
@@ontheroadadventure I mostly avoided motorways (I had 4 weeks to do the trip) but I regularly use the motorway to do the 15 miles in to Glasgow and used a few the year before going around the north of england. Its not to bad in the UK with all the cameras and roadworks slowing traffic to a stop on the Motorways 🤣 I am looking to perhaps get a cb500x for the longer motorway runs.
I am not jealous in the least nope not one bit .Not.
That place certainly deserves a visit it seems
perfectly situated .
Hey Doc! Not going to lie... we are loving it! What do you make of the little himalayan and its inability to use any fuel?!
@@ontheroadadventure 411 cc single cylinder . I have noticed on other peoples
reviews if the bike is not overloaded fuel
economy is fantastic . Another point is that
it depends on the rider . I can see why people move to Spain the lifestyle is just
better.
We rode for full day out at a cost of 4 euros! Thats sop attractive to us when we cover soo many miles on tours, It would save us so much money BUT it doesnt have the legs to do distance runs. Spain is just great, The uk needs to start making changes for people to begin to enjoy life again instead of just work to pay taxes, even more so as we dont get any sun to cheer us up either!
Hey. That V-strom is a 1000cc i think 😊
Yes, Explains why i thought it went so well!!
Loved the old Himalayan for all of 6 weeks before the engine went bang....now I commute on a 350HNTR.......VFR1200x on the weekend...wish I was there.....on the HNTR🏍️💨😸🍻
Wow thats unlucky... Did you find out what caused the fault?
@ontheroadadventure cracked head apparently..but the dealer collected the bike and gave me a refund plus costs..nice guy🏍️💨💨
(27:27) if itchy boots can take it to the highest road in India, that says a lot about that bike
Simple is best 👍
Fantastic roads, many cyclist though. I used to cycle (still do a bit) and follow cycle racing going to see stages of the Tour de France and the Giro d Italiia. There are lots of professional cyclists and teams, looked up current professionals and there’s about 1300 getting paid 500k to 6.7 million.
Bloody hell thats some good money! Id pedal like hell for that too!!
Great footage guys, looks like the location I'd enjoy, what puts me off is the website for your place of stay, Sun giro , no details of costs ? Maybe you can give us some idea. Cheers Bob
Hi Bob, Our guess is they dont put costs because it will depend on group size, dates etc. Give them a message or call
Thanks for that, I always suspect RIP off 😂 when they hide costs.
Stunning views and excellent roads.
Does the Sungiro Hotel have guests that bring their own bikes?
Im not sure, best to get in touch with them and enquire
Request show historycal building too in Spain
We will see what we can find of interest. Thanks
Royal Enfield 350 HNTR returns over 100 mpg more times than under 100 mpg, and it would be great around those roads.
Honda also now have a Small 350 bike out, i havent had chance to look at it yet but we will try to get on one for a ride review. The problem with the small CC bikes is they dont have the space or legs to carry us and our kit across the big mile days we sometimes have to do
Yes, I totally agree. That's why my other bike is a k1600.
We can only have one bike, so this is why the Adventure bikes do so well, good all rounders for us
Oh forgot to mention. I get close to 550km per tank on the himi, not empty..
It came up published 28 seconds ago. Right I’m going to be the first to comment. 7 comments already 😢
Hi Steve, You need to become a member to be the first to see the videos. Not only will you get early access but you get other stuff too, It's only a couple quid a month but it adds up to help to keep us on the road and make the videos possible
@ that’s why. I could never figure it out. Great vid keep on keeping on. 👍
Thanks bud
Hi could you please do a section on pricing to stay there aprox costs using there bikes
I believe their costs change depending on the number in your party, dates etc best to email them
Wow what a view point, can you share the location, really need to ride those roads!
These are roads around Tarbenas, You cant go wrong in this area, look at the roads on googlemaps you cant pick a bad one!
Last climb up was from Parcent to Col de Rates view point
what an amazing road that was, like riding into the sky
No son lagartos, son una especie que se llama salamanquesa
We like the Gecko's very cute
So it Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 seem be ok in the hills been looking at them
Yes i think for these types of twisty hilly roads its ideal, BUT its no good for motorway riding, its comfortable to about 65mph
Just a reminder V-Strom 1000
Yep.... It took far too long for that penny to drop lol
How did the roads compare to the Mae Hon Son
UK is mostly covered in low, grey, drizzly clouds. As depressing as it gets. The Bib needs sun and 30C...urgently!
Think of these videos as your 30 mins medipack!
@@ontheroadadventure 🤣
Where in spain are you riding? It looks so good from cold Germany…
This is the Costa Blanca area. The town we are staying in is Tarbenas. Spain is the perfect motorcycle get away this time of year..
What sort of price is it this time of the year ?
You can get in touch with them via their website Sungiro.com
From research it looks like 250 euros per day to stay at sungiro. This of course includes the use of the bikes.
What a place can you give me a link to where you are staying, cheers
It is Sungiro moto hotel. www.sungiro.com
That Vstrom is 1000cc
Yes, I thought it went well!
Another brilliant ride, wow, what a place. On cyclists: Are you seriously telling me you have never heard of the Tour de France? Team Sky? Bradley Wiggins, the first Englishman to win the TdF? Chris Boardman? There have been pro riders for over 100 years. A little respect for cyclists please, there are many of us who both motorcycle and cycle, we are all brothers and sisters on two wheels.
They have my upmost respect, those guys and girls are super human! But cycling isnt my thing, i dont know much about it
Used to to Majorca but its been ruined by MAMILs🤬
We are yet to visit there, but we would like too
@ontheroadadventure great roads👍, lots of lycra👎 and a cafe in Palma that does suckling pig and roasties in the sunshine, just try to avoid Shagaluf😸
You are riding a V-strom 1000 not 650!!!!
Yes, I thought it was going well!
Eva, you say that the other times you have come to Spain you have not liked it, so why have you come back and not looked for another country that offers you what you are looking for? You should be grateful to be able to enjoy what Spain offers you and not criticize it. I have felt insulted as a Spaniard.
You misunderstand what was meant. We travelled Spain Badly last time, We much prefer this trip where we have got away from the tourist areas and gone into the hills, Visited local cafes etc, its a much more enjoyable way to travel we have learnt since our previous trip here. We love Spain, You incredibly lucky to live here
@@ontheroadadventure Ok, continue enjoying your stay here. All the best
Love Spain and enjoy the city's and country side on the down side I dont like Royal Enfields
Another great video
Lost in translation....we all understand what you said!! As an Englishman I feel insulted when a Spaniard does not understand when a Polish lady is paying your country a complement in English....😂😂😂 Not really, my Spanish friend needs to chill. I'm affended you did not invite me with an Irish surname but was born and bred in.... this could go on forever 😂😂😂 enjoy yourselves!!
@@JulianOLeary-nv5nc Mejor no te contesto porque no te gustaria lo que iba a decirte
