- Here's a classic game, a throwback to when Kobe dropped 48 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to close out the series vs. the Kings.
Back then, nobody was saying Shaq carried Kobe because everyone was too busy watching the games. But now, we know the truth. I've got to give a big shout out to Shaq for helping Kobe get 48 points in this game, especially during the moments when Shaq was sitting out in foul trouble. If not for his presence in the middle, there's no way Kobe would have hit those double teamed jumpers or and1 shots as the defense collapsed around him, helpless because Shaq was 20 feet away, sitting on the bench. While Kobe finally took a break from ballhogging and sat down in the 2nd half, the Lakers started moving the ball and went on a massive run, on the shoulders of the MVP, Shaquille O - wait never mind, Kobe played 48 minutes this game.
Shaq tallied 25 points and 10 rebounds on 9/16 FG but fouled out with about 3 minutes left in the game. The Lakers were able to pull away to win by 6 and move on to the Spurs, where the indisputable carrying of Kobe would continue.
Kobe carrying Shaq against the dominant West Playoffs as usual .

After that game 2 the momentum completely shifted and it was phill's call to make it someone else's job to guard A.I for the majority of the finals. Kobe's play is so much more fun and beautiful than that of current NBA players, yes including the king without the throne.

Kobe was phenomenal in this game, 48 points to go along with a career high 16 rebounds he is truly an all time great and will be deeply missed.
@1:47 Kobe told Webber to keep his cool so he could still play in the game. Kobe wanted to beat his opponent with their full squad. Lebronze, on the other hand, tried to set up Draymond Green to get kicked out of the game cuz he knew that would be his best chance to beat his opponents (when they're not at full strength)

Think about that 40 and 10 reb in back 2 back games against the Powerhouse of Sacramento who were an improved defensive team and won 55 games. Then 45 and 10 against the Twin Towers #1 overall defense and 3pt shooting team with 58 wins. And Kobe was only 22 years old and the Spurs had no answer for him. That was the difference from 99 when the Lakers got swept and then in 2001. Kobe was a more mature and compete player playing at both ends. Plus the journey he had to take to be one of the greatest of all time and how hard he had to work is top 5. Greatest skilled player ever

Iverson lit up the Kings for 48 earlier in the year. The Kings were a good team but couldn't defend against the top players in the league at that time.

Shaq never carried Kobe! Let's be clear no one carried Kobe, God carried Kobe He made it so that Kobe could be a winner, Kobe has God's Favor in His Life. So, therefore no one and I repeat no one carried Kobe. If anything Kobe carried Shaq and the Lakers on his back. He's the only one that could and would walk the walk and talk the talk. He was the dominant player since he had to carried everyone and make sure they won the game.

When Kobe dominated in the West Playoffs all they can say is playoffs don't matter cause Shaq was Finals MVP 3 straight years, so technically Shaq carried Kobe when in fact Kobe lead the team to the Finals and then they face a weak ass team and then all of a sudden Shaq gets all the credit. Aside from the time Kobe got injured against the Pacers, he was actually at par with Shaq. They were a duo, so you Bron fans saying Kobe was carried should shut the fuck up.
Now here's the funny thing:
Bron fans say that it is okay to lose 6 times in the Finals and get swept twice so long as it was in the Finals. And they brag about how great Bron was during the entire playoffs when all he has to face are teams barely winning 50 games compared to the tougher competition Kobe had to go through beating 50 and 60 win teams.

In the finals, they played against the weaker east team if compared to western conference playoff. Those teams does not have players who can really stop Shaq. Any coach would put Shaq up as their first option in offence and destroy the paint to get easy points. Kobe on the other hand does not need to play like he did against the west team and focus mostly on stopping the best player of the opposing team in the final (Iverson, Reggie Miller, Kidd) and leave the offense to Shaq. That was how Shaq got his 3 Final MVPs.
