Badfilm. The central theme of conformism and the psychology behind it is very thinly developed. And has needless grand photoshoots and irrationally reasoned love affair with professor's wife etc. and for a professor and his wife who knew they were dealing with a fascist they are shown to act rather stupidly. Shallow characterisation and bad dialogue. Doesn't deserve the accolades it has got. Many European ( and low budget polish and czech films) are far superior.
