In the Queen of the Murder Scene album, Dust to Dust is the prologue to the story and Dull Knives comes later in the narrative, however in concert they have started putting these 2 fan favorites back to back. By the way, the Spanish narrative in D2D occurs during the instrumental bridge, but in this show it was obscured by the audience reciting it. I wouldn’t call Black Holes cheerful, since it describes the despair of an addict or alcoholic - written by a 13 year old Pau. 😎👍
@@TrueWishEntertainment I get what you are saying. The tone of the music does sound kind of cheerful until the chorus. It builds you up, then pulls your feet out from under you. That is the beauty of the song. It makes you feel the cycle of the addict and really makes it hit home.
About the Spanish part in D2D they've actually never sung that live. In the studio version, it's Rudy - their manager - who says those lines. And at concerts, they use a backing track of him. You didn't notice it at the Pepsi Center because they let the audience sing it instead, keeping the backing track super low. "Dull Knives" is actually a separate track from "D2D". At this concert, they did that cool transition between the two for the first time, and then BAM! They went straight into "Black Holes". It was awesome! The "QOTMS" album tells a whole story, like chapters in a book. You should totally check out their vlogs on TH-cam about it. They're like, required viewing, you know? You can find 'em as vlogs 23, 25, and 26. Trust me on that.
I videoed a whole concert, San Luis Obispo (I believe) where Rudy comes on stage and does that part. He did it live at The Whiskey as well and i'm sure elsewhere.
Pau's choice of how Black Holes sounds sings to both survivors of addiction, and the people who have lost addicts, but remember how wonderful they were before they lost their battle. Sometimes people don't want to be saved. A 13 year old helped my old ass through some things. ❤️⚡😭
They didn't skip the Dust to Dust interlude. it's spoken by their manager Rudy on a per-recorded backing track (he used to do it live but there were issues with him staying in time) For this video, they turned the volume on the backing track way down, and the volume for the crowd way up and you can actually hear the crowd doing the Spanish speaking part.
Pepsi Center is the best concert on TH-cam by miles imo these wonderful ladies give 1000% to their home country audience spare no expense and the audience loves them like family .
If you want to react to Live versions of Queen of the Murder Scene, you should check out the Lunario concert where the first performed the album live and in order. Also, The Warning put out vlogs when they released the album where they break down the story chapter by chapter and song by song, providing insight into how those songs were created. These vlogs definitely help to put the songs into context and add to the overall experience of the album.
Pure magic happens when Pau comes out from behind the kit - every single time. Pau wrote "Black Holes" at 13, after reading an article (I can never remember if it was in a newspaper or a magazine) about addiction. She has no personal experience with addiction, nor does anyone in her family - yet so many people in recovery say this song is the best description of addiction they've ever heard. I can't count the number of comments I've seen thanking her for this & saying that the song has kept them in recovery. You can find "Black Holes" on their first album, XXI Century Blood. The studio version doesn't have the strings.
Queen of the Murder Scene is a concept album telling a story. Dust to Dust is the prologue; it is the Queen's funeral and she invites us to listen to her story. The Spanish part is the priest preaching how salvation has to be earned, on the album (and e few times live) this role is played by their manager Rudy. The prologue is followed by four chapters of three songs. Dull Knives (Cut Better) is the 2nd song in chapter 3. Black Holes is from their first full album XXI Century Blood. It is about alcohol addiction and is basically the addict telling people to leave him/her alone lest he/she drags them down with him/her.
Pau has a number of songs where she sings or shares lead vocals, but I really think “Dust to Dust” is her showcase number. That incredible belt coming from that five-foot-nothing firecracker, while she beats those drums like naughty stepchildren, just has to be seen and heard to be believed.
Great reaction. I agree with everything everyone already in relation to QOTMS album performed at the Lunario, although I myself like the QOTMS title track performed at the 2022 Metropolitan concert, but that's just my personal preference. Keep Rockin' 🤘⚡🤘
Nice Reaction! This concert was in Oct. 2023 and was a celebration of them being a band for 10 years, which is why they had the strings (for 3 songs). If you want to react to QOTMS album you should watch/listen to their show at a venue in Mexico City called Lunario in 2018. They played the whole album and Dany sings the songs from the viewpoint of the Queen which is why she sings in the sinister sounding voice she does.
You didn´t notice that in Dust to Dust, the Spanish part you were waiting for was done by the crowd. Normally they play a backtrack with Rudy (their manager) doing that part. But here they let the crowd do it.
I may be alone with this thought but I'm going to share it anyways. Since Dull Knives is so short (under 3 minutes), many were saying that they wish it was longer cause its a banger. The Dust to Dust outro/transition to Dull Knives is fairly new and not part of the original song (it originally ended right after Dani's solo vocal). I think that they did it so that Dull Knives doesn't feel as short. Keep on rocking and you've been warned!!
The Warning has performed 2 excellently recorded concerts, the first great one was at the Metropolitan Theater and the one at the Pepsi Center has surpassed the previous one. At the Metropolitan Theater the songs combined songs from the album "Error" and "Queen Of The Murder Scene" while at the Pepsi Center they combined songs from all their albums but specific songs since it was their 10th ANNIVERSARY celebration.
@@TrueWishEntertainmentQOTMS is divided into four chapters, and in-between the chapters they play some songs from their first album XXI Century blood. Lunario concert is a must see.
