66 year old Ford tractor’s first day of real of work in decades [vlog 015]

Today is the day we put our 1958 Ford 871 Powermaster Select-O-Speed farm tractor to work at our homestead. We have fixed all of her major issues, given her fresh fluids and filters, greased all of the joints and fitting and, mounted a brand new IronCraft FL165 flail mower deck. Join us as we attempt to cut overgrown fields and farm roads keeping our fingers crossed that this antique tractor will be up to a real days work. We'll find out together!

Welcome to Big Spruce Farm! We are re-imagining this abandoned dairy farm in the finger Lakes region of upstate New York. It's been 50 years since BSF has been a working farm and it shows! The buildings are in poor repair, the meadows and fields are overgrown with invasive honeysuckle, multiflora rose, and even knotweed! Join us as we become stewards of the land and turn this 75 acre property into a sustainable homestead. We'll eradicate the invasives, restore native plants and trees, repair the barns, turn old pasture land into pollinator friendly native meadows, develop a new permaculture orchard, and generally create a healthy regenerative ecosystem for both man and beast.
