    Hi! I’m a new subscriber. 🌸 Love your advice and approach. I survived my short years with wash and go’s till it was long enough to put in a puff. Then that was my style till I could pull all my hair into a tiny ponytail, with a flat twist around the front. Then I messed up…I blow dried my hair one day and was absolutely shocked at how long my hair was! It surpassed my shoulders like a boss...it’s the longest my hair had ever been up to that time. That’s when I started feeling myself and wanted to keep heat stretching. Oh, and I was still washing weekly at the time…that lasted for 3 years. My hair kept getting shorter and shorter cause it couldn’t handle all that manipulation. Of course NOW, I know better. My hair has been protected for almost a year and a half and it’s thriving! My best advice to other ladies is to keep your eye on the goal if it is length retention. Don’t start feeling yourself prematurely!! 😆💕🌺 Loving your videos Cocoa!

      Thank you so much for subscribing and joining my little corner of the internet 🫶🏾 GIRL, the temptation of feeling yourself prematurely… don’t I know it 😩 I remember my 1st blowout at armpit length and how it took everything in me to go back to protective styling afterward 😭 At least you got to satisfy that itch and now you’re thriving 🌸💖

    Putting temporary color like color hair wax in my hair is helping me get through this awkward phase. Your hair is beautiful and you're an inspiration to us all.

    I agree 100 percent! I did the exact same thing when my hair was shorter. I personally loved rocking headbands in all colors to match my outfits! Another style I did was pin up styles where I would take bobby pins and pin up my twists to give me an elegant looking updo which is perfect for work environments! I currently still wear beanies in all colors as a protective style and since it's cold here I'm right in style 😂 in the summer I usually wear half wigs or pull my hair back in a bun or wear my twists out. I'm in the growing phase now and with your tips I have finally gotten past my bsl growth plateau and I'm at mid back length now 🎉🎉🎉 Thank you so much!!!! 🙏🏼

    I did wigs through my twa. Then I switched to little crochet beanies I still use to this day. I am currently/stuck at shoulder length

      How long have you been stuck at shoulder length? And do you use a satin scarf under the beanie?

    what is your why? let your why be bigger then the negative thoughts. wear head wraps n hair jewelry. keep your thoughts on your hair goals/length retention

    excellent advice video 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
    honest i loved my twa stage. i wore my hair short for over 5+ years. i open my natural hair salon in 2004.but i return back to natural in 2002. yes people were amazed that i shave all my relaxed hair off. however i was free from chemical burns n this is what the universe wanted me to do. cut all the relaxer off never apply relaxers to my hair again.
    i have been studying botany and aromatheraphy for many many many years. i love natures way of teaching us. love light n more love n confidence

    I immediately started doing mini twist because I didn’t know how to do my hair in a TWA. And people at work started complaining one day when I wore my hair in a ponytail and the ponytail busted because my hair was too thick & my hair opened up into an Afro.🤦🏾‍♀️ after that, I sort of just started twisting it up to keep it tame. Found a neighbor to twist it for me $50🤷🏾‍♀️

    I had big chopped my relaxed hair for the 2nd time and wore comb twists and wash n his on my twa before we had that name for it! As it got longer I wore puffs and a few twist outs. Then I got sisterlocks and grew them to waist length and cut them multiple times until thinning let me to cut them and restart with a new twa. I’ve grown my natural loose hair to bsl by keeping it in twists and under a headwrap scarf.

      I love this! I’ve been curious about protective styles with added hair recently. Maybe I should try sisterlocks 🤔

    Short, coily, 4c hair girly here ❤ I want to learn how to take care of it, from protective hairstyles, to how to retain length and keeping it healthy, because I wasn't necessarily taught how to do my hair growing up. I am taking it upon myself to learn how to take care of it. So I can relate to having the short afro! Especially whenever it comes to the thought of how people will think of me, for my appearance. I really like scarfs and hair accessories too! But I will admit, I don't have a lot of confidence. It is something I struggle with. I am only 15, so I definitely have a long way to go. Your hair is beautiful. Not only do you have beautiful hair, you seem like you have the confidence too. This is the definition of black girl magic! Thank you for sharing your journey. ❤

      @cocoainkyoto if you keep this style for days, what's your routine for when you go to bed?

    • @cocoainkyoto
      @cocoainkyoto  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I keep it as is and just wrap it in my silk scarf when I go to bed. When my hair was shorter, I used to worry about retwisting and remoisturizing and all that complication, but now at my current length, I can maintain it fine just by keeping it in a high bun. Hope that helps 💕
