You should’ve contacted USCIS to change your start date since it was their fault. My initial start date was supposed to be in June but since it was delayed by USCIS and got approved in July, my card had the approval date instead of the original June date.

My card was approved before the start date hence, they were not changing my start date.

Umm, yes kind of. It’s like you need EAD to utilize your OPT period. The Opt start date and the EAD is the same.
