I’m 28 and live in an assisted living facility, been here since I was 24, it’s a nightmare. I’m severely disabled so I’ll never leave. Being in your 20’s in a skilled nursing facility surrounded by 60-80+ aged people is extremely difficult and depressing. At least I have the honeydew, it helps.
Long shot but if you’re in the tristate MN IA WI I’d come and visit ya dude! My girl works in facilities and says dudes like you are the hardest things to see, she always lets guys know I’m happy to come in and visit!
Brother, I’m sorry. My dad threatened to put me in one after I got paralyzed. Thank God, I was able to recover enough to find a way out. I’ll be praying for you man. What disability do you have?
Hey man,you can message any of us through TH-cam. Don't think you're alone. I'm sorry you have to deal with this. At least you can say hi to us whenever you want.
This was _without question_ the most open & honest I've ever heard any comedian allow himself to be on a podcast. Hang in there Dan, we all struggle brother 🕉⚡️🍄☯️☮️
This podcast is a lot of fun most of the time. It can have tough moments, but Ryan still keeps it jovial. Occasionally we get someone with serious heartache and an extremely difficult past, like this one. It's still just as important for us to hear episodes like this. We laugh and cry together on this podcast.
As someone who has a bipolar alcoholic dad who has gone to many rehabs in my short life and has always relapsed, this really hit home. I wish you the best in your sobriety Dan and we all appreciate you sharing such deep stuff. This also scared me a little thinking what road my dad can go down, but I can only help so much. Once you deal with something for so long you start feeling pretty helpless to the situation. As they say you can’t make someone be sober they have to want to themselves. My dad is kinda sober as of late but it’s his birthday today so we will see if that holds up😂 Thanks Dan for making me not feel alone in the struggles
Wow Dan, you did so good honestly. Im sorry you suffered so much. My mom died from a combination of alcoholism and rectal cancer (in my mind caused by the alcoholism, but there's no way to prove that) in 2021 at 53 years old. You were such a better son than I was a daughter. My deepest condolences to you, I know nothing can ever make it ok. But I hope that you will heal with time. I have been exactly where you have been and it is ugly. But you did the best you could do with the circumstances you were given. You're doing so great. ❤
@christiansolorzano9544 I thought he was pretty good overall, and I like DSG on other shows, but something was up here. He just couldn't stop talking over Sickler every time he interjected, and he barely interrupted the entire show. Literally every time-- trying to finish his own statement, thinking he'd finish what Ryan was saying, whatever. What an annoying oaf
@@DatPixon guy clearly been threw a lot..think he deserves a pass on this one..probably shouldn't have done this one til it wasn't so fresh and painful for him..but hey he trying to promote that special..dance fatty dance
Sincerely hope DSG finds peace. I can feel the struggle not only w alcohol, but also w his mom’s passing. My mom suffered from Pick’s disease. She was diagnosed at 52 and was in a nursing home for years. Things, of course, happen. I don’t know the details of his circumstances, but the pain he’s exhibiting is very, very familiar. “From the dark side of the street to the bright side of the road”…hang in there, Dan.
I've been to rehab myself. I always thought the food tasted so good bcuz it was the first time in awhile I'd really tasted/enjoyed food & could remember it 😂😂
Ryan and his team - I hope you are reading this. Please have on Rene Vaca. His did is doing 40 Years in California prison but Rene is best Hispanic comic I know.
My dad always says rehab was the best vacation he ever went on because he could get a steak dinner every day and they’d even give you 2 dinners if you wanted more 😂
Dude! LOVE YOU! ecer aince your Soder-cast, been ruminating and a pondering what this show was you were chatting bout, ye?!?! STONE COLD LAW!!! sounds fucking sahweet! awh dude! lets go!
I'm glad you're doing good now dan! I used to buy 100 1mg Xanax every month. You tell the truth about the withdrawals. I took my last Xanax in December. No rehab 😁
There's a lot he's saying here that makes me worry for him. He stated blatantly that he's in a cycle of relapse, detox/rehab, then throwing himself into work, and now he's six months sober or so and he's throwing himself back into the spotlight and show business? It doesn't bode well. I hope I'm wrong, but maybe if that hasn't worked in the past maybe the call is to step away and just focus on sobriety until your foundation is a bit more firm.
Coming from a recovering alcoholic, no bs or sugar coat, if he's not careful he will end up like his mom or worse. I hope he gets the help he needs. Addiction is horrific.
As addict I was told to start with a plant 🪴 not a house full of dogs lol. 13 years clean I fight forward never looking in the rear view for old sad stories it took time to find discipline chances are like opportunity. They are very rare and hard to come by.
You should call this episode "I can't really talk about that". Hopefully talking about this will help Dan heal, I have a similar situation with my mom, and I'm definitely not looking forward to when the death situation happens. Part of me hopes she makes it to 100+ so I don't have to deal with it.
Need more context of Dan's tapering down off xanax. He said he was eating 6-7 a day. Doesn't specify 1mg(blues) or 1/2mg(peaches.) And it's not clear how long of a stretch he was eating 6-7 a day. But Dan says when he went to rehab they put him on klonz to taper down, and he said it was a week. Klonz would be a lateral move, if taking same mg. And what happened after the one week? There's no way your body adjusts and is fine after one week of tapering. And tapering to what? Zero? Or just like 1 a day? My central nervous system is fucked from being prescribed xanax for 12 yrs, and then having dr up and quit his practice with no referrals or any colleague set-up to hand his patients off to.
Honestly, id yell "Come to OKC" but then id probably forget to see you. bUT they say something about pavement and good intentions, idk Adelle or somethings, so Its the meaning that counts 😊 and if you came to okc Id mean to see you!! For sure! And id get you dad w**d too, all us would!
