  • Our first trip down to Punggol Waterfront produced some interesting different species of fish with a good sized grouper, small stingrays and a Kaci. It was overall a productive fishing session where the fishes kept on coming! Stay tuned to the end for a stingray catch and cook!

    How do you cast past that line of chained barrels?

    • @JivesFishing
      @JivesFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Further down there is an area where the chained barrels are much further away and you can cast reasonably far, but that part is usually crowded so we make do with here. We don’t cast past the buoys haha.

    It is useless to promote the awareness of the climate change when they do not tackle the real source problems - the burning of crops and mass termination of trees to make ways for building and people. Over fishing is also another source of problem but then nothing was done to stop all these selfish acts. Anyway, if humans were to continue to dig their own graveyards, nobody can stop them. Thanks for sharing your catch.

  • @diontan1096
    @diontan1096 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why did u guys released the kaci? Is it as an act of goodwill or was it because it doesnt taste good? I caught many fish but not the kaci. So i dont know. Need to know what to expect when i do land one :D

    • @JivesFishing
      @JivesFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We released it as it was rather small. If it was a bit bigger we may have taken it back to eat. Its not bad tasting, can be steamed or cooked in curry!

    • @JivesFishing
      @JivesFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha thank you! Hmmm..as for the grouper, their population status are not threatened at all (although their populations may have dwindled over the years but this applies to all fish), and Orange-spotted groupers are one of the more common species along all of our shorelines. If it is good size we will consume it. But yes, hybrids are a must-eat because they are invasive species.

      We used surfcasting rods: ATC platinum surf and Daiwa phantom surf, paired with (spinning) Shimano beastmaster/activecast. Line is 30lb braid haha. For the other rod its a 12ft rod (some chinese brand) with Daiwa BG 4000, line is 40lb braid!

    Wow! That blue spotted ray u cook looks delicious and perfectly done.. was it good the meat? I caught and cooked before but i fried it, the meat turns black in colour i dont know why and the taste is not that good.. so whenever i caught the coral ray i let it go thinking the meat is not good.. but looking at what u did looks delicious man.. tell me good or not? Next time i catch i cook yr style 😄

    • @JivesFishing
      @JivesFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think I saw on a forum before that bluespotted ray’s meat is black but somehow when I cooked it it didnt really turn black.. For taste wise I quite liked it but im not sure how it compares to other rays because I haven’t really tried others hahaha. Also, because this ray cant really grow above 1kg, the meat is relatively little so not as shiok 😂
