We all know Shane is great but never forget just how good the The Pogues actually were. The musicianship and playing from the entire band is astounding.
Their first single. I was living in London when this came out, working as an apprentice on building sites. It perfectly captured that melancholy of living in London, as a youngster, with no money! ❤ RIP Shane.
Saw them on the Rum Sodomy & The Lash tour at the Birmingham Powerhouse September 1985. I can honestly report it was one of the best nights of my life and definitely the best gig.
MacGowan was never at the top or bottom of his game. MacGowan was just him lol. Mind the time we went to see him at the the old fruitmarket Glasgow. Supposed to be on at 2100hrs. Rodeo guy comes out and says, slight delay .... Shane has just left Ireland in a helicopter 🙈. By fuck it was true, sure enough. Roughly 2300hrs (2hrs late) Shane falls on to the stage and rambles (literally) ! Worst gig ever however probably 1 of the best experiences to see the "main man" not give a fuck about anyone/anything. Ps Mon the Pogues
@@prangbro It gives me hope. I can remember and sing a lot of songs, but as soon as i have to play the guitar along with them, I can't remember the guitar chords. I can play guitar with someone else all day, I can sing with someone else playing the guitar, but play and sing? I'm screwed. Re-investing in my love of the Pogues has been a real lifesaver for me and this rare vid of him playing guitar like me while singing that great has been a real boost! :-D 😀

ポーグスの曲の中でもこの曲が一番好きな曲なんだが、日本ではあまり演奏してもらった記憶が無い。
Lyrical genius you are shane
この曲は死なないし、この曲は色褪せない。たとえバンドのメンバーが全員死んだとしても。
Gotta love Shane’s rhythm guitar technique 😂
What about it? I am not an expert, so just curious.
@@Donderdrammels he really struggled to play and sing - he's barely strumming at all. That's why they recruited Philip Chevron for the second album!
