    Triumph Street Scrambler suppose to have “limited off-road capability” but you guys took it well beyond “limited”. It is nice to see what this beautiful piece of machinery can do! 👍

      A LOT of people have been doing that, I think Triumph say "limited capability" for the legal side of things, in case one bike in a thousand or one customer in a thousand really screws up... but they're far more capable than Triumph have been letting on.

      Now triumph has an official off road capability scrambler which is scrambler 1200, but I am going to buy 900 one and take it to the off road anyway🙂

      I've had a spanking new 22 SS in my garage for 2 weeks tomorrow. I have to take Rider safety driver course, but by-pass all testing at DMV if I do and discount on insurance. So anyway, the 2.5 day course starts Friday. I've putted it along in the parking lot is all. Never wished MONDAY would hurry and get here before.

    Brilliant! The funny thing is that the modern Scrambler is more capable than any bike made until the early 70s off road. We never thought twice about taking "street" bikes into the poop back in the day. Put some knobbies on it and go.

      Very true!! I restored/customised a 1966 Honda CL77, the larger version of the bike Dave Ekins plotted the initial Baja 1000 on. Nostalgic, pretty and sounds lovely.... but it's a bit crap! I do love it but never ride it. [Ross]

      @@c.g.c2067 You are right there. I will have to design my own when I buy one of these 900 scramblers which I intend to. Because I am going to lift the bike with a 200 mm travel set of forks up front and 200mm Ohlins at the rear there will be room to take a 2 into 1 system behind the right shock and then fit a mini mega like a Predator pro shorty no wider than the shock so a conventional pannier rack will fit. Doable definitely.

I am the idiot who broke the world record for the 7,350 mile TAT (27 days) on a 690 SMCR with 17 inch wheels rather than taking the easy option of the ER with 21/18 inch wheels to prove a point. • @BikeShedMotoCo
      @BikeShedMotoCo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lionel Alwin I’d say no, if you’re going to actually use it for ‘scrambling’. The stock Pirelli phantoms will be terrible on off road terrain, and you will likely need to turn off the ABS which the T100 cannot do. It also has a significant amount of extra weight compared to the street Scrambler and no higher pipes. Having said that, if you’re using it for road, they perform very well and use the same engine, apart from a slightly different tune. Hope that helps. [Dan]

    • @FootlooseGlobetrotters
      @FootlooseGlobetrotters 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a lot for your reply, Dan! It really does help. I am a highway rider with occasional cravings for off-roading. When such a situation presents itself, I wanted to be sure if t100 would take me to the other side without any untoward incidents.

    I noticed that the rear brake caliper/pads are on the bottom end of the rotor. Does this interfere with off roading? Is it vulnerable to getting hit by big rocks or other debris?

    • @BikeShedMotoCo
      @BikeShedMotoCo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In theory it's not the best placement for an off-road bike, but this isn't a single-purpose bike and there are other considerations on setup. It didn't seem to slow Ross down green-laning with the guys. (Dutch)

      It's a road bike first and foremost, being a ''scrambler''' is just super trendy for marketing right now, that being said put some knobby tyres on any bike and it will do better off road.

    but a Street Twin shouldn't be difficult to transform it to scrambler right? lots of after market parts there already and if you start with a taller aftermarket suspension and a sump guard you should do the same green lanes as you did on the street scrambler.

    • @BikeShedMotoCo
      @BikeShedMotoCo  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's all about the suspension, the map, and those pipes, plus wire wheels (more flexible) and a bigger rim up front (better across obstacles). This then effects the mudguard mount position on the fork lowers. There's lots to change over, but you could, in theory, make the street twin work better off road.

    • @ripmax333
      @ripmax333 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you are right about the spoke rims, but with some TKC80 i think it would be doable, maybe a bit slower. then if you change the rims i dont think the mudguard would be problem, probably you can find aftermarket ones to fit. Map?...hmm stock one will do just fine unless you change for full exhaust, Zard makes nice options for slip-on's.
