i got the same boat and the same motor but havent tried them together yet. I currently use the 2.5 suzuki on my 14.5ft aluminum boat since my 9.5hp isnt running. What you said about it having alot of torque for its size makes sense. i'm hitting 7mph in my heavy aluminum boat, so hopefully i might hit 8-10mph in my american 12 once i try it out.
Good lil boats for the money, very stable. But keep in mind its flimsy plastic, and water doesnt drain from cockpit. If your good with that......youll be happy
How do you drain the boat after it rains? Unless I take it off my trailer and flip it I can't get the water out. The spaces between the benches don't connect. Any sugestions?
Thats what i was complaining about, everyone comments get a tarp, store it flipped over. My concern is when its in back my truck,or on a trailer. I use a hand bilge pump. Even with a tarp....the tarp colapses and fills.
Depends on your use and size.this is more stable than a 12ft aluminium boat, but can take a beating better rhan aluminium. Really a hard choice. Also depends on motor choice. You will get more speed with aluminium boat.
@@nickpellegrin I'm thinking of getting this boat with a trolling motor or 5hp. My concern is getting caught in rain and not having a way to drain water in the middle and front sections.

That is pretty hood speed with that motor!
I'm planning on purchasing one of those boats

Yep, I will install drain plugs in it, I'm just that good 👍 😎
Why didn't you do a gps speed test?
I did using my phone, but used same phone to make the video.

Hey, I see you have seat brackets drilled into the benches. Is there wood under them or just thick plastic?
Theres a piece of 5/8 or 3/4 ply inside both seats for strength and a backer.
Thank you
Mine has a second layer of plastic..I used a hole saw and never saw wood...it's a 2022 model
@@ferniealonso5457 thanks for the feedback
What trim setting do you have yours on...I have same setup but yet to put in for a test...just wanted to be ready when I hit the water
I put the motor level, think 2nd notch from the bottom.
I sold the rig for $1000
That was a great question
Would this boat handle a 5 hp ???
Yes
Long or Short shaft
Short
This or a aluminum boat?
