Anderson and his "posse" are with the Church. The Church was secretly with the Nazis during WW2 but now are on opposite sides. Walter', plus Integra's dad, and Alucard fought against the Nazis. And now that faction has a truce with the Church to keep fighting monsters.
They were not secretly on the same side, some traitor priests just assisted in several Nazi officers fleeing after the war, they hid them among fleeing refugees the Church was already transporting.

The forward by Nicholas Cage in the Pre-War Manual is a reference to his movie Lord of War. Given how obsessed the Major is with having a big war, it seems fitting lol

The London branch specifically? I don’t remember that part. It’s true he follows Alucard pretty much everywhere because they’re very similar in power so long as Alucard is restrained. But I think he’s just stationed in London because Maxwell told him to for the particular assignment.

The notion that he's the leader of anything much less a London branch is not factual, for one England proper is Protestant territory in Hellsing ultimate ,meaning that normally the catholic church would not give a flying fuck about anything happening there, as they are heathens in the eyes of Catholicism , remember Anderson's main reason for fucking with Hellsing in the first episode is because Ireland is considered catholic territory and he was there to humiliate Hellsing by killing their best and remind them of this being catholic land . As for the whole leader bit , Maxwell as bishop is the leader of the whole organization, Anderson's just their supersoldier/ version of alucard , albeit with apparently with some secret holy magic/science as opposed to alucard who is a vampire made even stronger through occult means by the Hellsing family.
