The accident at 4.29min...that's me! Shoulder broken on 4 places, 3 broken ribs and some logical lateral dammage. My son is standing right in front of me. We encouraged him to continue despite my abandon by ambulance. Very proud he made it to the finish on l'alpe d'huez!
@@ColdeGranon yes sure! Full recovery will take 2 years. So I'm still doing my excercise on a daily basis, and still need pain killers. And I may eventually need a shoulder prosthesis. But cycling is possible and I am fully trained.
I'm in the back of shot @33:45, your mate King towed me the flat section into the feed stop at the bottom of the Alpe, I was spent. Thanks so much forever grateful!
Meanwhile it's 6 months ago. Since 2 weeks I can sleep normally; untill then I had to sit due the pain. I still have therapy and I need: paracetamol, diclofenac, amitriptyline, pregabaline and oxycodon. Meanwhile lower doses as in the beginning. I can use my arm, but still with limitations. It will take 1 year to be at 95% of recovery and 2 years for 100% . Then possibly a shoulder prosthesis due to the cartilage damage. But... after a week I was allowed to use the smart trainer and after 6 weeks I could cycle outside. I will ride the Marmotte again in 2024
How it happened? someone in front of me braked very hard and at the same time steered sharply to the side. I dove into the back wheel and flipped over.

Will you go back?

Brilliant, I will let him know! I lt took a long time getting up there helping my pal “The King” who was broken
Wow, sorry to hear that. We saw some even more nasty crashes later on. Have you fully recovered now? How did the crash happen?

Not to be an ass, but watts are correct? sometimes you go uphill with 150/200w? I can only dream bout that :)
200w is about right for an all day climbing route
Isnt the fisrt climb the col de glandon
The route was slightly different this year. Croix de Fer and Glandon are almost the same.
