I believe I saw this aircraft fly at early JOK meets in Springfield KY. I attended the early meets to help Lewis with parking and odd jobs. Lots of fun those old days were. I cant remember the pilot but i think he was a DR. He flew the model exactly scale and made the best jet landings of those days.
Museum level indeed! That build is on another level, for sure. Showing my age here, but I remember the Missouri Air National Guard flying their F-100s into Lambert Airport in St. Louis. So this one’s a bit nostalgic, and I’ll be following your refit.
You and the owner are doing a very rewarding task here. That model has earned a complete refit of with modern equipment. I like your thoughts about calling this a 'museum refit model'. Looking forward to seeing your progress. Best, Steve
Interesting to see what still worked and what was DOA. Good sales testimonial to the stuff that still works. I’ve had good luck withJR matchboxes but I’ve had a half dozen of their servos die in %35 size planes.
This one's gonna be Hoot. Going to be mission to see how all the new gears gonna fit 😮😅Man there's some gear in there and how did they sequence it all to fit. Quite impressive really how they got it all in. 😅😂 Looking forward to number 2. Crack in chap😅😮😂❤
That's totally the crazy part! The control with so few channels. Matchboxes everywhere, servo arm hits a switch an makes the next thing work, etc. etc. Lots of thought put into all of that originally!
Nope. Not at all! The planes in videos have the turbine decision made by the owner! We still outsell xicoy with Swiwin by a large number! Just not featured in video projects!
You may be a _little_ optimistic on your weight loss program for this model. Okay, you're saving 2.5 lbs on the turbine alone. Probably another pound with a different pipe and heat shield in the tail. I think the air tanks will be a wash since you spoke of adding a compressor. The radio(s)/servo systems, you may get a 1/2 to 3/4 pound of savings on. Batteries are overall lighter, but there will be a higher DRAW on them with the compressor alone so that may be a net loss as far as shaving weight since you'll need more Ah capacity. . My guesstimate for a final dry weight is 38.75 lbs.
Hi Jon, beautiful aircraft and project ! Brand new equipment ok but what do you think about the structural strenght of these old fuselage and wings when it will pull G's after so long time ? Thanks, David from Belgium.
Hello David! Great question! Much of that comes down to the person that originally built the kit. When you strip an aircraft like this down you can see how the original builder did. Very similar to the Yellow Super Bandit we just completed. They do need to be flown with care but for the time and even by todays standards they are very well built aircraft. Interesting note, the F100 layout and such was very much based on the Ultra Bandit or vise versa.
@@thelightersideofrc Thanks for answer Jon. If it was me flying this old beauty, I should be careful to avoid pulling too much G's and simply smoothly enjoying this wonderful aircraft 👍

Much like the F4! The F100 is a Fav of many! Lots of good memories!
Nice project. Did this jet compete in Top Gun?
I don't think so. Next episode we will have some history on it.
That front pilot needs to replace with an FPV system :)
Can't fly turbines with FPV unfortunately
@@thelightersideofrc Hunh?
Plenty of vision out there of folks flying turbines FPV.

A lot of your recent projects have used Xicoy Turbines. are you moving away from SwiWin Turbines
Nope. Not at all! The planes in videos have the turbine decision made by the owner! We still outsell xicoy with Swiwin by a large number! Just not featured in video projects!
20 year old, looks great, can I have it please
Thanks! Keep on dreaming!😂😉

Hello. So how is the AH-64 builder progressing? Is this a customer or personal build? Thanks
For a customer. Hopefully more progress soon!
