- The Ayala High School Band and Color Guard from Chino Hills, California performing "Sound Garden" at the WBA Championships on November 22, 2009. Ayala came in second place with a score of 97.05 and won the high music, high visual, and high percussion captions.
hey I loved this day. We got to see the college band that has gone to all disneylands and disneyworlds in the world. Alaya, you guys did great. I don't know how James Logan won. We are the band far to the right in blue. we are Oak Grove. Go trombones.
This show was used by Avon high school in 2005 to WIN the BOA grand nationals.
ayala actually leaves our school at about 3 and we arrived at about 11
Arcadia band member here wondering how you guys pull this stuff off. HOW.
CRAP !!! you guys have amazing visuals
hey guys. fountain valley band member here.you guys are simply amazing and i have the utmost respect fro you guys. i think we may have a better chance against you guys this year. we have so much energy. see you guys out on the field and i hope that you will perform just as good as you always do.
@vivmellow no problemo! I agree both Logan and Ayala are great. I think they are possibly the best Cali bands imo.
Fantastic guys. How long is your new member camp and regular band camp? Do you have sectionals?
i like this music better than ICUCMe...
but ICUCMe is also terrific, i love the eyes!
@thesock339 Thank you ;)
i loved ayala and logan's shows. especially watching them in fresno. i never got bored either, and i guess it's just hard when logan's close to home turf. it was really close though, seeing as they tied in some of the captions then winning some.
This show is fucking amazing, im very jealous of the size of your band, awesome job guys.
Great job Ayala. Pretty cool stuff.
So there is a rumor going around the Logan band saying that there was a video being made called,"The Fall of the Empire." I'm pretty sure it isn't true, but I would totally like to know. Hahah. Anyways, good luck next year.
@ravel111 Not Logan or Ayala has the right to say who is better. The most important thing is who worked the hardest and put the most effort in to their show. Because with no effort and focus, we wouldn't even get anywhere.
This show could have definitely been a BOA finalist! Although Logan had a great show, I am very surprised Ayala didn't come out on top! Very, very surprised!
@thesock339 i do believe logan has a larger band. find me a link with logans member count if you would please.
@maeosto They may have done better, but percussion is the hardest caption to win, and we have consistently been getting high scores.
@arcanistman As an Alumni of the Ayala BAC, I wish to extend my upmost respect to Fountain Valley. I have always enjoyed competing with, and watching their shows. I have nothing but respect for all those who work very hard to achieve putting on a show. Though I have not seen your recent years, since I am a grad of 08, Im sure I would have enjoyed it. Take care fellow Marcher, and I hope to see you and many others live, or at the very least on youtube =)
@vivmellow Yes it's true that marching band is all about friendly competition and pushing each other to become the best they can be with hard work and determination. But I was just going by the scores (WGI= Ayala World Class Champions). Both Logan and Ayala have amazing programs (Logan's colorguard = WOW) so it's not meant in disrespect ;) I was replying to somebody who claimed Logan was better in everything than Ayala.
@Shreddfase As of 2010 season, logan has 255 members.
i've always been a fan of this band since i joined marching band :)
I cannot forgive the lack of Soundgarden but this once. Excellent show!
dang..... battery has some tasty licks
@thesock339 Yeah, thats larger then Ayala BAC.
amazing visuals! My marchingband is doing this for 2011
after watching videos of both ayala and james logan, this is what i think:
1: James logan colorguard pwns ayala's.
2: Ayala percussion was better than logan.
3: Whether it was due to the uniforms or just the size of the band, ayala's marching band seemed more cluttered and messy than it actually was. It felt very felt like there wasnt enough space.
4: Ayala had a VERY good ripple effect.
5: James logan's show was light and seemed fun, while ayala's was too funeralistic with the dark uniforms.
my highschool did this show and placed fourth on the tob acc's finals and got best drumline one the east coats but our band never sounded as good as this i tip my hat to you ayala you rule
this brings back memories... our feet were on fire that night!
Good stuff in the battery cant wait to see what you have to offer this season -Homestead snare
@ravel111 haha in that case i misinterpreted. My bad. I apologize :) Yea, I agree no one (Ayala or Logan) should claim they are better in everything. Because personally, I love Ayala's percussion. Pure amazing :) and i love Logan's colorguard too. Both are just Pure amazing :)
@ravel111 yes i agree on that one too :)
What was it called?
you guys did such an amazing job!! Congrats xD
@WhereDidDaveGo not their drumline ;)
If you think the drumline is good here, you should've seen them at worlds in Dayton for WGI! Amazing percussion ensemble!!!
you are correct
omggg. ur show is soo amazing.i love ur drill.do u know what music the show is based off?? i heard equis...im not sure tho
@Shreddfase no prob.
@erikswr They did get first. Not sweeps.
Only joking, I'm surprised we got first place that year too.
Their Drumline kicks ass..... as for the rest of the band's individual drill.....uhhh....
is this shadow ritual music? i cant remember what song the 1st movement is o.O
After 4 years, i JUST now realized that the music of this is based off of Equus By Eric Whitacre i think. Am i correct?
James Logan is always better
@Dwindleman never mind i know how.
