What stood out to me was that for once Russ was deliberate and thoughtful in his game. He was looking for the highest probability attempt. This is a huge improvement and augurs good for clippers.
He shows flashes of being smart, the problem is he just doesn't understand how poor of a shooter he actually is. A good lesson to young players out there, know your strengths and play around your strengths. Don't fool yourself. If Westbrook would just drive the ball every single time, at least he would give himself and his team a chance. Just a low basketball IQ.

I knew he was gonna fit in nicely with the clips. His time with Paul George was good and also his experience of being teamed with Robert cov and Eric gordon in Houston brings more comfort for him. And that’s the best thing a player needs and can have is being comfortable and not overthinking the game like he did with lakers. This group is dangerous and the clippers are extra deep in depth. As a rockets fan I’m rooting for these guys to go all the way. A lot of ex rockets members. Seeing them in the finals vs sixers would be nice!
Unfortunately, neither are making the finals. Too many playoff chokers on both teams.

Yeah, the problem is with Westbrook is he does this every single game. It's not like he occassionally has games when he turns over the ball, it's consistent from game to game. Good luck to the Clippers to try to get this to work. The guy is just an overrated player.

As a Kings fan, they made some mistakes.
1.Don't close out hard. Contain WB's drive.
2.Don't go over the screen. Go UNDER.
3.If you have to let someone shoot, you know the answer.
you don't go under a screen in the nba, unless that person is known to be a bad shooter.

This may be the most perfect environment for his strengths. two superstars/star wings that are good at both catch and shoot 3 and get their own shots with good defense
Ppl look at stats and blame Russ with the 7 TO’s. Yet clips were up 6 when he fouled out. Plumlee dropped 2 beautiful passes from him. And he got 2 moving screens as well. He really only had 4 to’s that still didn’t affect the game. Hell clips had 25 to’s total. Pg with back to back TO’s and a 5 sec violation out of nowhere. Clips will be fine. Russ looked damn good in his clippers debut. He was dishing it to Kawhi, PG, and rest of the crew with ease. He even passed up a chance to take a dagger to wait for Kawhi to get open. Clips will be fine. Plus no Zubac and Pg didn’t play the 2 OT because of minute restrictions. I’m still sticking with my prediction before Westbrook and all the trades for them to win it all if healthy

@@RagnarNidhoggr someone that actually watched the game. 3 of his turnovers were illegal screens. Plumlee lost 2 solid passes from him as well. In my eyes he only had 3-4 turnovers. Clips looked good. S/O to monk and D fox. They came to play. No Zubac and pg on minute restriction and they lose by 1. And went up 10-12 pts on the kings twice. Also Russ fouled out with the clips up 6 so blaming the game on him is ludicrous lol
The reason Russ wouldn’t work with the lakers is the roster! Like it or not Lebron and Westbrook pretty much have the same play style.
Downhill players that get to the rim and finish. Also, drive and kick to 3pt shooters. The problem is the Lakers had no 3pt shooters! They wanted Russ to all of sudden become a corner spot up shooter. Which was foolish to begin with.
He blends well with clippers who have about 5 good 3pt shooters.
Hate they scapegoated him. He has some turnovers sure but he still can ball.
One of the best overall summaries I’ve seen about why the Lakers went wrong. Just one more other point I think you could add is AD being injured so much. That definitely made it much worse because Russ had a great way of playing with AD when that man was fully fit and playing well, but yeah he barely played last season and this season he got injured again.

7-13 is a very good shooting split. He had taken more layups and all of his 3 pointers were decent shots. In fact, his only three of the night was a good momentum changer in the first OT. Many of his turnovers were due to miscommunications and not really understanding the tendencies of a whole new team. In addition, PG got benched in the first OT and did not play in the second overtime. If you want to be a sensationalist, at least base your criticisms with good evidence and actual witness experience.
