Finally getting a chance to catch up with you. Lovely video, thank you for sharing so much. On felting...I prefer to soak an item in hot water for about 10-15 minutes, squeeze out the excess water then throw it in the dryer with other things that can take heat. Check regularly to see what size it is and take it out when it meets your desired size. Kim, on the Long Meadow Farm yarn (beautiful!), you might consider striping it with a solid color in a sweater. And last, I just started the Drawing Sweater. It is so well written and so delightful to knit! I'm having to put it aside for gift knitting, but it's all I want to work on.

And thanks for the suggestion for Kim's yarn. She still has tons of other sweaters to knit before she gets to that yarn, but she'll definitely consider striping it with a solid color when the time comes. Finally, how did your Drawing Sweater come out? Did you do the fade? And how were the long floats? The pattern is SO BEAUTIFUL, but also a little intimidating. :)
A blocking trick I learned from the Make Good podcast is to use a salad spinner to remove excess water. It works really well for hats. I also want to thank you both for giving so much detail about patterns and yarn. It is so helpful to know your gauge, fit, needle size, thoughts on yarn, etc.
Just managed to finish watching your episode - you're lovely company as usual, and I love the little section on books! I also read Lessons in Chemistry last year and really enjoyed it. While it s light and fluffy, I think it touches upon many important topics, too; I found it a very enjoyable read! Though I wish I actually understood something about chemistry!!

I love the simplicity of all the knitting involved and I also love to give it to people going through difficulties. My new motto is, “ so and so is getting a hat”. Another great podcast! I was excited to see that Jonna likes knitting the Jason’s cashmere hat! I made 52 of them for my former high school students this past year! 52 is not a typo! The cables make this the perfect hat for all head sizes. They each told me their favorite color without knowing why…then they got their hats!

My 2 cents are - it’s a very quick knit except for the ties which feel like they go on forever. I think it’s absolutely adorable but unlike most vests, it’s difficult to wear with a coat because the ties add bulk on the sides. Nonetheless, I love it! Enjoy knitting yours Jonna!

I just have to put in a plug for Lessons in Chemistry. I read it last summer. Hearing Jonna talk about the food chemistry part made me recall how fun the writer made all the chemistry. The story is kind of light and fluffy, true, but also has interesting (and very true) points to make about the history of women in the workplace, some negative parts of which I experienced personally. I have been wanting to knit the Amy slipover since it first came out, but couldn’t find anywhere that had the pattern - I will have to call Pick up Every Stitch! And I bought a hank of that Longmeadow Farm yarn at a fiber festival in Ohio last spring. I think I am going to make a triangular shawl with that yarn as the center and then use a solid color yarn to add some sort of border (maybe lace?) to make it big enough…
When you write out your notes before each show, you could always both write together on a single Google word document! That way you can both contribute remotely in real time and you can separate your notes. Thanks for the great video!

I just finished an intarsia sweater and there were so many ends b/c it was multistranded (US19s). Honestly, I cannot imagine where you're going to bury 170+ ends on one repeat. Isn't the fabric thickened? Looking at the pattern it'd be so easy to carry it all up. I would think the ends would affect the stretchiness of the fabric b/c there are just so many buried in it.
Hi Kathe, So sorry for the delayed reply, but I just recently finished my Amina!!! And yes, it was hard to hide all of those ends, but no, it really didn't make it much thicker. However, about halfway through, after reading your comment and getting suggestions from others, I decided to carry some of the yarns up the back. Wow! Huge improvement! And you'll hear all about it in E16 which airs on 3/3. :) Kim
48:53 I think Marzena Kolaczek calls them bobbles because we Eastern Europeans don't know the word nupp 😅 well, I am guessing that Marzena may be polish, and then this beautiful sweater's name translates as Sunrise (pronounced as zorya) ❤ (please correct me if I am wrong)
Jonna I love your rununculus. I bought the pattern but I’m a bit intimidated by the 15 pages! I’m an experienced knitter so I think I can do it....still intimidated. Any advice to get started?
Just start! Try a CO that you're familiar with and skip the fiddly one? Everything is written out so it looks like a lot. It does go quickly because you're doing something different every couple of rows. Enjoy!
I'm late finding your podcast, so I'm not sure that you'll see this comment, but I've heard that you can use a salad spinner to agitate and therefore felt [small] wool projects. I'm like Jonna in that I hear tips and tricks but I never remember where I heard them 😏
I’ve made 3 pairs of the Bear Paw Socks Jonna and I only ribbed the front of the foot. I also knitted the Heel plain, not in the Rib, I found the ribbing didn’t look even for me.

My solution to requests for free knitted items is now, "what can you trade for it?". This avoids the ugly subject of money, but Does open the conversation about Value! Which is always the issue. Isn't everyone shocked when you tell them the price of yarn and the number of hours it takes? Cheers.
You're much nicer than we are. We usually just say no. Everyone is always shocked to hear how much yarn (and pom poms) are. And then when we tell them how many hours it takes to make something multiplied by how much we would/should charge per hour, they quickly realize that it would be cheaper to buy whatever it is (although not hand-knit) at Target. 😂 Kim & Jonna
Jonna, Inge of Knitting Traditions knitted that vest with ties on the side and it came out too small so you might want to be careful which size you choose.
Oooooh the Amy Slipover would look lovely with a floaty long sleeve white shirt/blouse with a plaid skirt. I have to make it, it's in my head now-I know I won't be able to stop thinking about it till I've made it. *Pfffft never mind looked at the pattern and lordy when you meant no hand holding I didn't think you meant they left you hanging on the edge of a cliff. My poor brain can't figure out a pattern with such little detail. 😅 Does anyone know of a similar type of style that has a more comprehensive pattern? * Edit to my edit, just found out I wasn't actually reading the pattern but the description of it instead. No wonder I was so confused lmao. Now I feel a little stupid. 🤦🏻😂😂

I watch your podcasts because they aren't commercials. I certainly understand the need for fulltime designers/yarn dyers to advertise but then I don't watch their podcasts. I've stopped watching a well known Vogue Live presenter because her podcasts are just a long commercial to buy her classes, patterns, and books.

I just finished an intarsia sweater and there were so many ends b/c it was multistranded (US19s). Honestly, I cannot imagine where you're going to bury 170+ ends on one repeat. Isn't the fabric thickened? Looking at the pattern it'd be so easy to carry it all up. I would think the ends would affect the stretchiness of the fabric b/c there are just so many buried in it.

So sorry for the delayed reply, but I just recently finished my Amina!!! And yes, it was hard to hide all of those ends, but no, it really didn't make it much thicker. However, about halfway through, after reading your comment and getting suggestions from others, I decided to carry some of the yarns up the back. Wow! Huge improvement! And you'll hear all about it in E16 which airs on 3/3. :) Kim

Jonna I love your rununculus. I bought the pattern but I’m a bit intimidated by the 15 pages! I’m an experienced knitter so I think I can do it....still intimidated. Any advice to get started?
Just start! Try a CO that you're familiar with and skip the fiddly one? Everything is written out so it looks like a lot. It does go quickly because you're doing something different every couple of rows. Enjoy!
I'm late finding your podcast, so I'm not sure that you'll see this comment, but I've heard that you can use a salad spinner to agitate and therefore felt [small] wool projects. I'm like Jonna in that I hear tips and tricks but I never remember where I heard them 😏

I’ve made 3 pairs of the Bear Paw Socks Jonna and I only ribbed the front of the foot. I also knitted the Heel plain, not in the Rib, I found the ribbing didn’t look even for me.

Sorry for the delayed reply, but THANK YOU! I love it and it turned out way better than I even imagined. As for the gauge, Karen at Pick Up Every Stitch helped me to recalculate my gauge and figure out which size I should make at my new gauge. :) Kim

My solution to requests for free knitted items is now, "what can you trade for it?". This avoids the ugly subject of money, but Does open the conversation about Value! Which is always the issue. Isn't everyone shocked when you tell them the price of yarn and the number of hours it takes? Cheers.
You're much nicer than we are. We usually just say no. Everyone is always shocked to hear how much yarn (and pom poms) are. And then when we tell them how many hours it takes to make something multiplied by how much we would/should charge per hour, they quickly realize that it would be cheaper to buy whatever it is (although not hand-knit) at Target. 😂 Kim & Jonna
Jonna, Inge of Knitting Traditions knitted that vest with ties on the side and it came out too small so you might want to be careful which size you choose.

Oooooh the Amy Slipover would look lovely with a floaty long sleeve white shirt/blouse with a plaid skirt. I have to make it, it's in my head now-I know I won't be able to stop thinking about it till I've made it. *Pfffft never mind looked at the pattern and lordy when you meant no hand holding I didn't think you meant they left you hanging on the edge of a cliff. My poor brain can't figure out a pattern with such little detail. 😅 Does anyone know of a similar type of style that has a more comprehensive pattern? * Edit to my edit, just found out I wasn't actually reading the pattern but the description of it instead. Jonna not all yarns felt well. Yarns with silk or other blends do not felt. I’ve used cascade 220 with great results.
Fritids garn is meant to be felted but I think my needles were too small (too dense) and my front-loader didn't create enough friction. Plan B!

I watch your podcasts because they aren't commercials. I certainly understand the need for fulltime designers/yarn dyers to advertise but then I don't watch their podcasts. I've stopped watching a well known Vogue Live presenter because her podcasts are just a long commercial to buy her classes, patterns, and books.
