I agree. she has to do it this way to secure an appeal free case. He will not have a leg to stand on if he tries to appeal. she's allowing him to seal his own fate. if she lost her temper, he'd be able to appeal and actually try to have the case dropped.
I made taking a shot every motion she struck down a drinking game a few weeks back. Now I'm in AA having just picked up my 30-Day Chip and I only smoke weed on weekends.
she is such a pushover. She constantly threatens to throw him out and sit down and stop talking, even the state passively ask the judge to step up and do her job and defend the court better. She is a terrible judge.
Man he was trying SO hard to get this judge to crack and open the door for an appeal. She was an absolute ROCK up there and should be commended for keeping her cool and not taking the bait.
When I seen this clown, Brooks, last year, initially, I didn't like the judge. I didn't understand what her extreme patience was all about. I didn't even think about how she was tightening this case in every way to give no chance for the public to believe he could appeal. Had it been me up there, wooowy boy I tell ya.. lol His guilty verdict was sooo satisfying.
Yeah, unfortunately a defendant's "competency to stand trial", does not necessarily mean that they can "competently" represent themselves in court. This trial was a dumpster fire.
Just realized... her letting him rant and talk, explaining things over and over is all a part of the record that will be viewed over and over and keep him from any kind of appeal! Brilliant...
There was no need for the prosecution to even show up. Darrell Brooks did a stand up job of convicting himself just by Judge Dorow allowing him to open his mouth.
It seems like he is used to punching women if they disagree with him. Or hitting them with his car. He does not seem to have any skills in coping with people when he cannot escalate to violence and murder. This is probably the first time in decades where he couldn’t settle things his way. He is out of his depth.

The thing is if she actually done that right there on camera for all to see, no one at all would blame her for it. She really is the type of person that you hope sits on a bench. Her patience and restraint has been absolutely remarkable.
don't we all! I'm sure the victims do...they have even said it was all they could do to not climb over the rails and clock him. Well, sure that will happen to him in prison...
I would have been removed from the bench after about the 2nd day of trial. I wouldn't have been able to bite my tongue! He would have heard some things that I guess no one was allowed to say to him.
This is a prime example of narcissistic behavior. He’s argumentative because he wants to deflect everyone’s attention from the pain and tragedy he’s caused! This judge deserves a Medal of Honor she’s outstanding
Hes argumentative because he thinks he's smarter than everyone and can find loop holes to achieve a lighter sentence. It's why he refused a lawyer. It has nothing to do with the victims. He doesn't understand that a law is a law not about "fairness"...ironically 😂. Its like telling a child they cant use a crayon and must use a #2 pencil. Then the kid says "Why not, it shouldn't matter as long as I write the correct answer"
Although you getting mad at this judge for letting this madman take over the court and so many ways with his interruptions constant bickering but you also have to dip your hat to her for I think she secured a true block on any attempt to receive a new trial either through appeal or mistrial she really did a good job protecting that I don't think he has a chance of getting one and also the prosecution I must come in them as well for having the patience to get through this cuz I don't think I could have and most people could not he is one of the most annoying man I've ever seen in my life. How anyone before this horrible deed was done good spend more than 20 minutes in a room with him is totally beyond me I think Mr Brooks should change his attitude now that it will be going to bed and waking up in a prison surrounding everyday for the rest of his Natural Life. I did a little research on some of the violent career criminals that are in the Wisconsin prison system and some of the most deadliest in the country reside there in these institutions my caution Mr Brooks maybe change his attitude and even if not he has made a lot of enemy with by this heinous crime of mowing down and discriminate people with his vehicle and murdering a 7 year old child and murdering five senior citizens he will not obviously be very popular just like the late Jeffrey Dahmer the cannibal was it took two years for a convict to totally cave and Jeffrey Dahmer and his cellmates heads in I think he the murderer kills his cellmate I guess because nothing leave any Witnesses but the cops the prison guards knew who it was as soon as they found the bodies with their heads completely crushed in you know I don't wish this on anyone but I would advise Mr Brooks to be very careful very careful I don't see him lasting more than 2 years people get complacent and especially and that kind of world they live in and atmosphere the second you let your guard down will be the very next second you're dead in prison
Sue Opper made some great recommendations during this trial which is why he hates her more than he hates the judge…She was able to call him out “scared little chicken “ was one of my favourites
Does he not remember ripping up her written ruling that he just asked for a copy of? He literally tore into pieces in front of her face and he has the audacity to say he didn’t get it and he wants another copy. There is a special place in hell for this man
It’s like arguing with a 2 year old who wants candy for dinner. Almost unbelievable to watch an “ adult “ behave as he does. The Honorable Judge needs an award for decorum under the most obnoxious circumstances in her courtroom
His sorry-a$$ mother raised him with that delusion that he is in charge of everything. I know that he was POS that committed this horrible crime but she played a pivotal role by laying the foundation for this crime to be committed. She coddled the shyte out of him so much so that's it's sickening.
Everyone keeps asking “why did she allow his behaviors” SOOO that when he files for an appeal it will be in the record just how crazy and ridiculous he was and is to this day. She is actually brilliant
I absolutely love how angry he was he could not get his way...... He wanted so badly to continue that argument and it just wasn't going to work and for every sovereign citizen that tries it it never works and I love seeing the frustration on their faces
But he did control the court. Every day. Think about the amount of time that was wasted closing the court down to shuffle him back & forth, the “I need a quick second” to read his evidence & think up questions to ask witnesses, to make notes for his appeal, & to take his moments for “feeling a little emotional”. All of this, while the prosecution, witnesses, the judge and victims/families sat & waited for him.
@@nancygreen1655 no he didn't.. that is not controlling the court.. controlling the court is getting your motion to be upheld.. he did not control the court. it was beautiful it was wonderful and I love the fact that he was so angry... He uses a few legal words and phrases over and over. The fact he uses them wrong doesn't matter to him. He is stalling his guilty verdict that's all he is doing. His whole life he has bullied and lied and gotten away with it. He finally isn't getting his way in something and he doesn't like it.
It’s amazing he actually thought he was cheated out of a fair trial! 😂😂 It’s always everyone else’s fault, never his fault!! Oh he went crazy he don’t know what happened. Ok but he never said that. All he did was play games. And his last “the jury should know that they have the power” is just a pathetic attempt to try to get out of jail for his terrible acts. What a narcissist!!! 😂
Truly. I would have been at his throat within the first day of this trial. It’s infuriating to watch him but at the same time cathartic because he’s going to prison for the rest of his life. At one point in the trial he says that you “can’t force me to be somewhere I don’t want to be” in reference to being forced to be in the courtroom, and it just brings a smile to my face that he will, in fact, be forced to do almost anything that he does for the rest of his miserable life.
@@bradleythebuilder8743 She did an outstanding job and I say that as a therapist who has come across many clients like Darrell Brooks. For Brooks to even hint that the jury can ignore the law shows that he has no remorse for what he has done. He truly is a piece of work. Bottom line: the facts and indisputable evidence in this case were clear; Darrell Brooks was guilty of all 76 counts. Irrespective of that Brooks display of bad, unruly, argumentative behavior along with the disrespect he demonstrated toward the witnesses, the judge, the court and the law itself made him into one of the most vial, hated men in this country.
I almost wish it would have been possible for him to let them know they COULD nullify the case (or whatever he's referring to) because I don't think there's a Jury, in the whole WORLD, that would nullify the decision to put him in like jail for Life. By that claim alone, he shows an absolute lack of remorse or even AWARENESS of the magnitude of the TRAGEDY that he has caused to so many families. The Death penalty would have even been better, but either way they just sit in jail for many years.
You are right. He doesn’t want to be held accountable and tried to argue that the court has no authority over him… while in custody… while in restraints 🤔 Lack of remorse and zero empathy are core characteristics of someone with Antisocial Personality Disorder along with the lack of regard for authority. He tried to argue for jury nullification as though he was doing the jury a favor by “informing them of their power” as though they are being oppressed by the legal system smh. I feel bad for whichever public defender gets stuck with him for the appeal he is planning to file. It was evident his initial public defender couldn’t talk sense into him so I know they were so glad when he chose to represent himself.

It’s mind boggling that he thinks the jury would nullify anything pertaining to him. There was no way in the world that they were not going to find him guilty.
Equally as boggling is his claim of being a sovereign. Laws and constitutional rights of our country do not have merit on him. That ego-maniac actually thought a jury would let him walk out a free man. His actions, disrespect and horrible behavior during that trial would have made anyone hate him.
And, hating his behavior is one thing. That’s not evidence (it was used towards character by the judge at sentencing though). That said, he acts as if there wasn’t enough evidence to convict him and somehow the ‘plaintiff’ issue was enough to get the jury to nullify and find him not guilty.
His defence is an absolute mess. It's very half formed and half hearted efforts to argue.... 1: Erica Patterson is somehow the real villain. 2: He may have not been the driver. 3: He was the driver but the car was out of control. 4: The court and trial are illegitimate for Sovereign Citizen reasons. 5: The jury, drunk on this nullify power it has, will just nullify because they can.

@@RaulBarrios-Gomez He is right, the supreme court took up the case in 2020, and applied it to EVERY STATE IN THE LAND When the government abused the criminal process or imposed an unconscionably harsh punishment for a particular conviction, this critical check on government oppression historically “took the form not only of flat-out acquittals in the face of guilt but of what today we would call verdicts of guilty tolesser included offenses.” Jones v. United States, 526 U.S. 226, 245 (1999). I think she was so patient, not because she had any respect for him, but rather to quash any appeal he might try to enact for an unfair trial. He spent most of his time wrangling nonsensical legal arguments with her, but she left no stone unturned. If any appeal judge looks at this trial for an appeal, they will simply toss it in the bin and that is why I think she conducted such a mastery trial. Brooks is never getting out and will never be given an appeal.

It’s astounding he thought Any jury would nullify…. They must have been so eager to bring verdict ASAP.

He thought he could get away with it at the time, and even here he still thought he could
It only takes one crazy anti-government zealot on the jury to cause a mistrial, which was the one hope Brooks was counting on.
He actually CAN raise jury nullification under the First Amendment. This whole case should be thrown out on appeal. So, Brooks was right. The way Sue Opper teams up with the judge to railroad him into a cell is just disgusting. Why even have a trial? What a farce. He should be free.
I sense she's used to dealing with belligerent toddlers - I have never seen such patience and attention to detail to avoid a mistrial. She's utterly amazing

@@RaulBarrios-Gomez He is right, the supreme court took up the case in 2020, and applied it to EVERY STATE IN THE LAND
When the government abused the criminal process or imposed an unconscionably harsh punishment for a particular conviction, this critical check on government oppression historically “took the form not only of flat-out acquittals in the face of guilt but of what today we would call verdicts of guilty tolesser included offenses.”
Jones v. United States, 526 U.S. 226, 245 (1999).
Consequently, the clear indication from original understanding of the Sixth Amendment indicates that juries had both the power and the duty to judge the law and defendants had a corresponding right to argue that they should and what conclusions that they should reach.

Fun fact: she's allowing him to dig his own grave and bury himself. The entire time she allowed him to behave like this because it means that he has no grounds for appeal. If she had shut him down, he could go back and claim that she ignored and violated his rights.
