    I have a couple of different S. kirkii in my collection. The original, an Sansevieria kirkii pulchra, I ordered from Thailand in the late 1990s. Took over a month to arrive and all that was alive was one leaf. I potted it and waited. After 2 years it was a solitary leaf and I was about to dispose of it when it developed a small rosette plant. Very pretty, and again nothing happened for years. Then about 5 or 6 years ago, the plant began producing large leaves from beneath the soil (the adult form of the plant). Since then it's been so prolific that I have divided it into four plants, two of the large-leafed "mature" forms, and two plants in the rosette form (juvenile stage). The adults are getting to be quite large and I've grown to really love them. Recently got a S. kirkii "Coppertone" that is a real beauty and is worth adding to your collection for the leaf color alone!

But now I am on the look out for the jaboa and a lancia down the rabbit hole I go LOL. I am on the lookout for the silver nymph presently. My kirkii coopertone and night owl will deliver this week. Picked up a Bentel sensation yesterday. I Love Hahnii have a silver frost and a stars and strip on order hopefully in 3 days. I love the twists and turns of the tornado.

I always have a wishlist with Twisted Sister at the top, followed by Whitney. I’d love to have a list of online reliable nurseries, if you could recommend some for us. Many nurseries online offer the most common varieties that can be found at big box stores. 😢

    Nice collection! The proper name is a sansevieria trifasciata zeylanica, but they, like a lot of Sans, are mixed up and mislabelled by nurseries.
    Also, you are mixing up plant varieties and cultivars. Just letting you know as you are doing a vid on it. I think your mystery plant is a Sansevieria trifasciata Robusta (might be a Black Robusta, without knowing lighting conditions). Lovely plant 😊

    Is it possible that the unknown sans is a sansevieria macrophylla? Sans macrophylla is a cross of masoniana and sansevieria Horwood. So they look kinda like a whale fin but the blades (legs) are thicker and wavey.
    Edit: I don't own one but this is what i was told by an Etsy seller who had them. Also, in another video i saw you have a Bantel's sensation. So freaking jelly. Can't find them anywhere in CO.

    Whitney, my whale fin has started curling. I water the plant every third week when the soil is bone dry. The color is not fading, thank goodness. Any advice on what might be happening? Appreciate your help!!

    • @WanderingWhittles
      @WanderingWhittles  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, there! Can you give me the specifics on the plant? How much light, water, etc? Also, sigh on thrips or other pests?

    • @patthompson5908
      @patthompson5908 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Whitney, Thank you for answering my inquiry. I water my whale fin once a month; however I was told it may require twice a month. It's planted in well draining soil. It gets bright, indirect light from a north facing window. When looking at pictures from other collectors, I do notice an occasional twisting of their masonia. No pests. I cinduct a daily inspection of my plants. I'm not sure what's happening!!!

    • @WanderingWhittles
      @WanderingWhittles  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@patthompson5908 I, too, have seen the spiral. I have found two reasons through my research as to why this is happening. The first one is underwatering. Try watering a little more, especially during the growing season. Secondly, some whalefins begin to twist is they are getting too hot.
