Check the description for the names of books and more sentimental Lou Sullivan’s diaries thoughts! I don’t think I could ever accurately write or talk about how much that book means to me but I gave it a go😌

I'm so glad I found you. Inspiring and refreshing. I love your expression 'using paper to think'. Is it a quote or your own? Whatever, I am going to borrow it as your 2 videos have made me realise I NEED to start a journal for this purpose. My daily planner and reading journals are too constrained. Thank you for brightening my day.

@@dawnjones8341 thank you so much, I’m glad you enjoyed it! The book is called ‘thinking on paper’ so I probably just reworded the title slightly by saying ‘using paper to think’. It’s such a good watch to look at a notebook! I hope it helps you, I’ve been using one attached to my hobonichi cousin which I call the ‘appendix’ where I chuck all my thoughts and it works well for me😆

congrats on surviving the 2nd video 😂i didn't think it was a car crash at all! i loved the look at your pages. i saw those numbered book spine stickers on stickii & thought they were really neat, but couldn't think of anything i'd use them for /facepalm. they work so well in your planner! thanks for the book recs as well, i will def be looking up the lou sullivan book, that sounds so interesting. the roland allen book sounds amazing as well, just the table of contents made me want to read it. i love reading diaries, but now that i'm trying to think of some, of course my mind is blank 😭 i do love kurt cobain's journals, they're so cool to look through, so textured & tactile-looking (if that makes sense). i love edvard munch's writings as well - they're not strictly diaries, but still cool from a journaling perspective. there are scans and some english translations at emunch.no and there's a gorgeous book by poul erik tøjner called "munch in his own words". idk if you're a munch fan (he's one of my special interests hehe), but he often wrote about the same scenes he returned to in his paintings, so it's really cool to read alongside looking at his art. a diary i read & found very fascinating when i was 19, was the diary of vaslav nijinsky & i'm thinking of picking it up again soon to see what i make of it now. there is a good introduction to it on theexaminedlife.org, it's also the kind of read that is best to research beforehand. 💜

@@tiny-yaga AH THIS IS INCREDIBLE Thank you so much!! This video was a struggle to film so I appreciate that😂 will definitely be looking into Kurt Cobain’s diaries (textured and tactile are two of my favourite things for a book to be!) and Edvard Munch’s sound amazing - just looked them up and I’m in love with the combination of his sketches and writing😱 how cool that he’s your special interest! Books of both of their diaries might be things I have to find for my Christmas list😆🫶

Thank you for sharing these book recommendations! I’m so happy to have found your channel. I don’t have instagram, so I might not have had the pleasure of discovering you otherwise. Your Cousin is what I wish mine could look like (alas, mine is much more functional, and while important, is not very inspiring or chock full of memories and meaning musings). Maybe someday! 🥲 Thank you for making these videos!

I am so glad I found your channel! Love your process and way you share. Have added all four books you recommended to my TBR list. I figure I owe you at least one in return. Have you seen Lynda Barry’s book Syllabus? It’s more a graphic novel/comic style of illustration that she’s famous for - but I am absolutely fascinated by her explorations, comments, and teaching style. Highly recommend. Look forward to more of your vids.

It's so interesting to me how you use a planner to journal. I use the Bullet Journal method to plan, and I journal in it as well, but have a separate book for longer writing. I found The Notebook on my library app. I'm checking that out now.
