Great job and coaching the model to not climb on the edge. Each time this has happened to me, I always try to talk them out of posing on the edge of a top level parking garage.
Typically, when you want to be able to control the ambient light in the location and the light on your subject separately. You also have more options this way.
The only reason I used it for this shoot was I hadn’t used it at this location yet and was curious. But the other commenter hit it right. When you want to control the light, it’s the way to go. Typically when you want to avoid a blown out sky
I don't need my background blurred to soup. The example you gave with the 135 at f/4.5 was plenty enough background blur for me. I actually like to see the context the background gives even if there's background blur. Love that you used a beauty dish (that you never mentioned btw). Great vid. Was the beauty dish silver or white?
Appreciate that 🙏 and yea, I’m a bokeh guy lol I know it’s not for everybody but for the people that love it like I do, I hope the vid serves them well. And yea, the beauty dish does well outside for combating the wind. It’s a good modifier though. But didn’t mention it as it wasn’t about it on this vid. Definitely a future vid though 🤙
What a joke !! This Gen x photo bugs make a big deal about BOKEH The word never existed years ago ! Seem Your more interest the back (Love that 😮) perfect !! TH-cam has created tons of photo kooks 1.8 really !
That's why I switched to Micro Four Thirds. Just enough out of focus for subject separation. It wins every time. Too much out of focus to me and it tends to lose anything that could help tell the story. It's just my taste.

What about sharpness? I saw that the brand's 85 is very sharp..
Great video, love all the shots and info, don't forget the great model too😀
Appreciate that! 🙏
Great job i noticed that you don't use a light meter to read light exposure , how do you determined light power thanks
Thank you, and no light meter. I just expose for the background and adjust the flash as needed
Bonita sesión, me gustaría aprender a tomar fotos de esa forma.
What is the size of your beauty dish, and what strobe are you using?
Flashpoint 600 and 22” beauty dish
Does this 135mm have fast AF on the A74? Do you have good notodity? thanks
It’s pretty quick. I don’t get too much lag from it. I do mainly shoot portraits though. So not a lot of fast moving subjects
Are you using manual or auto focus?
Great videos!!! Thank you! Have you got 35mm? Interesting to look how you shoot with it.
Thanks! and yes I do. Ill definitely have some videos in the future using it
Thank you, for you kind unswer !
Hey man! Im starting to get into using flash, is there a reason you decided to use flash for this shoot vs natural light?

A perfect video with a nice sporty model. 👍😀

Not according to every other portrait photographer in the world, bud.
