Him and Fwoosh are the main guys that got me into collecting, but now I also love MCUcollector and Displaying Model Behavior a lot more as I’ve grown up and gotten into the collecting scene more the last 3 years.
I for one love the beaker chemical accessories. Ditko's interpretation of Lizard wasn't like the modern comics where he is a mindless monster. Early Lizard was more of a Jekyll and Hyde case, where he was extremely self aware and kept his intelligence and knew how to make concoctions and experiments, but was unaware of his actions when he turned back into Connors. Nowadays lizard has animalistic intelligence and acts more like an actual lizard. Its why I appreciated ASM1's Lizard so much, since that was what Lizard was originally like.
The new updated Lizard may not be large, But to me, This Lizard does definitely match the Steve Ditko design along with the Steve Ditko Lizard head on and he will go great with the new, updated Amazing Fantasy Spider-Man along with Steve Ditko villains like retro Green Goblin, Doc Ock, retro Sandman, retro Mysterio, retro Hammerhead, and 2 pack Kraven,etc, Fantastic review Shartimus.
The tips of the flasks are compatible with the smoke/blast effects that come with some figures like the Target Black Widow and Deluxe War Machine. Definitely increases their use for displays.
I would give this Lizard a SUD rating of DIIIYYYAAAHHH IT'S SO AWESOME!!!! The articulation, the sculpt, the paint all excellent! I think the accessories are good and I do like getting the beakers as I think it's always nice to get stuff like that for sets and displays. However like the MCU Namor that was just released it fell into the trap of not giving us 2 fisted hands and 2 gripping hands.
I have a lot of nostalgia for the Lizard, growing up when I was first introduced to Spider-Man he was by far my favorite villain, but I never actually had a figure of a classic Lizard growing up, the figure I had was the Toybiz Spider-Man classics Ultimate Lizard. Now having this, despite the Lizard being a bit further down on my favorites list as I've got older, I love this figure. For me I like my collection to be as classic as possible, so I really like the aesthetics on this figure. With that I figured the classic style head was without a doubt how I'd display it, but I actually go back and forth. At a really nitpicky level, the only things I wish were different was that the figure came with two of each hand, rather than one spread out and one clawed hand, and whilst the more generic style head works, I do wish we had a McFarlane inspired head, that's my mind's eye of the Lizard.
I missed out on the Walmart preorder. I definitely need to pick him up. The retro Lizard looks great. Hopefully they will restock him one day. Awesome review as usual, Shartimus.
Since Shart's collaboration with TalkerArt, Shart is more objective and critical of Hasbro when needed, while retaining his trademark humor and passion. Reviews are much better. 👍
I was just looking at my Mcfarlane-eque Spider-Man Classic Lizard (with the purple pants and red eyes) after watching this, for comparison; was expecting to see it in this review. Articulation is dated, but stands up, sculpt-wise.

The BAF is larger, but then, not classic comic accurate (and the head sculpt being more dinosaur than "lizard"...) I actually got a more comic-looking custom head for the baf from Ebay, which worked well, making that a good "best of both worlds" figure.

I love this version. Liked the look of the baf but as a figure was very frustrated with it and sold it for 120.00 at it peak I think. So perfectly happy with this one
Much nicer than I thought a Lizard retro card would be. Granted it continues the trend of the absolute bare minimum of paint applications on newly sculpted figures but there’s just enough to get by.
Somehow I actually managed to find like 4 of these at my local Walmart, as well as the 50th anniversary first appearance, iron spider, and ff stealth suit spidey.
I really agree, wish the vials would have been movie or comic themed. For example, green in one flask as lizard serum, and blue in the other flask or vial as the cure/antidote. I also wish the open hands were clawed it is just a more noticeable Lizard man detail realistically that's why they added it to him in later comics, shows, and movies. Dope reviews, and view points.
The lizard is my all time favorite character in anything ever, and this is the lizard figures of my dreams, so of course this is the one who is exclusive only to Walmart, he's not even listed on Hasbro pulse or anything, I can only get him at physical Walmarts, and I live in California which is a trainwreck when it comes to retail stores...... Fun times.

Another great video except it's hard to get from Walmart since it's an exclusive. Hasbro shouldn't make figures for certain department stores since it's always sold out. At least I still have my BAF lizard so keep up the great work with those videos!!
I think the head from The Hood might make a good Curt Connor head, it's an intense screaming head, might be better for a lizard transformation if it fits

Saw someone do some ACBA with the beaker where he drank the pink one in hopes of curing himself and winds up mutating himself more and dude swapped the arms with Sauron so now he can fly. That was dope asf. Hope i find this figure tho I prefer the BAF this is more accurate in a sense

If you don't have this already you might have a very difficult time getting him. He was a Walmart exclusive that sold out. EDIT: assuming you're in US. In UK he is a little easier to get I hear.
The figure is fine but, despite its flaws, I like the BAF much more. That massive, scary Lizard is how I have always seen it as a kid and that's the one I'd like in my collection. But I'll do with whatever I can get my hands on.
In the amazing Spider-Man movie the lizard grabs two vials and mixes them together to make mustard gas or something and throws it at Spiderman. I think that’s what they were going for with these accessories
RE: the flasks/Doc Connors: Here's a possibility, if it works: swap the head from shouting head from the Hood figure and having him hold the flasks for a transition from Doc Connors to the Lizard?

what are you talking about ? classic ditko lizard never had claws...he was a very humanoid lizard. even john romita sr never had claws in the lizard. you are thinking of inferno lizard from mcfarlene. that is when the lizard started to look more feral, and erik larsen followed suit streamlining the snout

I like this figure a lot my only complaint was the packaging it came in from Walmart. It was just a bubble wrap bag and the card came in bent 😢
I had bought 2 originally. This video has convinced me to open one to pair with some of my other figs.

I'm not sure if you've found out, but Lizard can hold both lab beakers, one in the fisted holding hand, and the other can sit in the open palm
You should try swapping his hands with the Lizard BAF. For the claws.
