    Great video on your new layout Daryl. It will look great as progress is made & the running while in building it is also great. I have enough braces for my permanent layout & first expansion. Next will be the purchase of 4 x 4 posts & the 4 x 8 plywood & the 4 x 4 plywood for my permanent layout.

    Daryl, A nice surprise to see some trains running today. Progress is starting to ramp up. On the prototype you can see from time to time rolling stock that still have'n thad the flash warning signs added. It's on old rolling stock and shorter cars. I.E. 40' box cars as an examble. A nice U.P. intermodal train with containers from all over. To add to the mix for U.P. it needs a few China Shipping and 3 or4 Amazon some extra Ocean and Cosco containers. The backlog of containers out of L.A. is so great There's just a great variety in containers at the moment. It's almost like they are saying, " Just load the well cars, we'll sort it out at the other end. Cheers, Chris Perry.

    • @EvanstonSub
      @EvanstonSub  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Didn't know there were Amazon containers, not that I would want any on the layout. I do google container names before I purchase any to make sure UP handles them. ie JB Hunt only rides on BNSF.
      The only cars I have so far without flash warning signs are yellow TTX. Don't know if they get exempted due to their bright yellow color. Could be they are there, just not visible except at night.

    • @ainsleyperry5192
      @ainsleyperry5192 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EvanstonSub Daryl, U.P. also run an Domestic intermodal train from Chicago to Logistic's Park, L.A. which is nearly all green E.M.P. containers with some E.M.P. blue white and red theown in for good measure. This train will also have some blue C.S.X. containers. The C.S.X. containers were only seen on U.P. trains. But now things are opening up again B.N.S.F. are starting to haul more of them. Another company to look for is Matson. This is an American Company specialising in shipments to and from Alaska and Hawaii. Cheers, Chris Perry.

    That staging is just, man. My staging or main yard can only hold packed to the max about 80 cars. And If I have the funds to afford to next year and build a third deck, a second staging yard would be at the end and would maybe only hold about half of that. So your staging is literally a model railroaders dream to be able to have the room for.

    • @EvanstonSub
      @EvanstonSub  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its actually a little overwhelming. Twelve tracks that can each hold a train with 3 locos and 40+ cars. That computes to a capacity of 480+ cars and 36 locos. I'm about a third of the way there, but it will take a number of years to get to full capacity. I have a railroad to build after all :)

  • @f2535

    I have seen a few of the prototype cars of UTLX that were painted with a gloss paint. It might be a company thing as they are partners in Canada with Procor, and I have seen some of them in gloss paint. But of course when you have a gloss paint out in the elements with no care, it oxidized and dull. After time all pictures of these out on the rails will come across as flat paint. So I can only think that yours come painted that way in case the user is modeling a place or era when they are new cars, leaving it up to the modeler to weather and dull them.

    • @EvanstonSub
      @EvanstonSub  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I've already started to think about weathering rolling stock. Those UTLX will be the first ones!
