I get that it's relaxing to just hang out among plants in nature....I 💭 for many of us a big reason why we adore our indoor gardens is because it allows us to keep nature inside with us so we can have a little of that serenity & peace all the time😊🌵🌱🪴🏵️.

I live in Costa Rica and just bought a house. The previous owner was a cactus and succulent collector. She brought most of her pots with her but left me a fair selection plus all the cactii she had planted in the ground which were quite large and vigorous. I have always been an orchid lover so this collection required a real leap of faith for me. I have gradually become a devotee all the whole still learning. I think I have actually killed one with too much water but it might revive with some luck and resilience. Anyway, wanted to thank you for this vid' because my appreciation grew by leaps and bounds. An absolutely fascinating trip through a land I would have previously considered barren. I subscribed so hope to keep watching your videos and learning as I go. Much appreciated! (P. S. I wish cactii were not so deadly unforgiving. OUCH 😏)

Kathleen - thanks for the comment. I love that your getting “hooked” on cacti. They are a truly interesting plant family for sure as are orchids. Hopefully the one in your yard bounces back. They can be quite resilient indeed. Thanks for subscribing. Much appreciated.

@@CactusQuest 🤞I hope so too. I hate to lose a plant to my own ignorance especially one that has thrived for years. I fear it is hopeless. It is a mushy mess. But since some of its 'hijos' are still green I am thinking of planting them in a new pot and starting from scratch. Still, I feel guilty of cactus abuse. Bawaaaa 😕

It makes me very happy to see foreigners enjoying Mexican plants. It hurts that the people of MX extract them from habitat to sell them as if nothing

Just returned to NorCal from an epic 4000 mile road trip down the Baja peninsula and back. By far, the highlight for me were the Boojum trees. I could easily spend the rest of my life studying the biogeography and evolutionary biology of this amazing species!

Thanks guys. I was afraid to click on the video. I had an unhealthy addiction to all these plants from 2002. Too many bugs in Florida and of course the humidity just soured my heart. What is still growing is huge and I've had them long enough to forget all their names. I'm good. Wonderful video though.

Great question - short answer, No it is not allowed. Illegal and heavily frowned upon. There are reputable nurseries who have been growing many of these plants from seed and they are available in cultivation. No need to pillage the earth.
