What a blast from the past watching you play this. Spent so many hours playing this, couldn't remember the name till today. 25 years later, this game is still awesome
Now if only they could make a Game of Thrones game just like this one, now THAT would be epic! Countess could be Queen Cerci, Knight could be Ramsay Bolton, Bishop could be the Arch-Maester, and Baron could be The Night King. Of course, the Night King would make it so you'd have to ally with the other nations, and an "Allied Victory" win condition could exist.
If you want to stop the NPC from blocking you at the keep door, build a couple siege towers instead of catapults and the troops will run to guard the towers.
On the bigger castles the best way to go is to isolate the enemy archers in a tower. Left or right. It doesn't matter. Then use the onagers to cut the walls away from the edges of the towers-stranding those troops int he towers. Then dig a moat on the other side and use the onager for access then rush in. I never use rams or siege towers anymore. Just minimum cavalry to rush in. Some peasants or mace men. Minimum for digging. Then onagers for stranding the oil and archers in different towers.
Love watching you destroy a game I remember from my young teen years. I remember it being so hard back then, but now I see how to do it.. you exploit for profit and enslave for your army, and when they revolt just take another county. Love it.
You can "quickly" take a Pallisade with a siege engine and a fast moving combat unit. I prefer knights, but macemen can also do the job. Essentially, you need their speed to do a Blitz-run for the flag.1) Move the Siege Engine so that it links up to one of the sides of the Pallisade, away from where the Defenders actually sit.2) Move the Blitz unit right behind the Siege Engine, dodging enemy arrows to reduce casualties.3) Once the Engine has linked up with the wall, immediately move the Blitz unit across, and move him to the flag, dodging enemy units along the way.Instant victory, and you can frequently do this without a single man lost.
Lol used to love this game and thanks for posting. If I remember right ... If you was being attacked by the computer then it will not sit in defence ... it will always attack you. Because your attacking the comp then you have to commit your troops in the battle :)
I know I am getting to this video a little late. 😂 I always loved pikeman. I could normally beat the map with a 100 mech pikeman group. I always thought they were low key op
Yeah, I was wondering about that too, since some FAQ says they have a good defense and the best unit to dig water. Well, so o played around for a few days to now as I write this comment [that's how I got to this video ] And it seems they have the same armor as swordsmen do, at least against arrows. (To crossbow they all die the same. 1 bolt 1 unit dead). Pike and Swords take 7, Knights take 4, and Maceman 3. Oh, also crossbow, take 3 arrows as well. Archers and peasants take 2. Ah and battering ram takes 27 arrow or 6 bolt [didn't bother with other siege units, but probably same or less]. Unit numbers don't matter. Same damage all the time. Kind of interesting. You would think its simple but i couldn't really figure out much of the other attack damages beside crossbows. They kill anything with 1 bolt basically. Melee-wise knights destroy everything in equal numbers [not 100% but kinda]. Maceman die to everything unless they outnumber them [oh beside peasants of course but that's obvious],they are good to kill ranged units up close. Oh also fortifications decrease damage a lot. They can increase the arrows required to kill something by 5x from what i see, or even more i guess? Its seems complicated, from what angle they fire, is it a wood or stone wall? A tower? etc.. being a 1996 game its pretty complex. Oh well, at least you can kind of know what to expect if you do check the numbers. In the end pikeman probably are kind of OP. Not because they are stronger but because they are much cheaper. You get a way stronger unit for like 1/3 resources of what the others cost. I dunno melee damage may even differ depending on who vs who and they seem to hold well enough. Well, guess i maxed out my interest in this. Was a fun game.
0:21 population and happiness are the same, every county every game, dude. 2:10 Wasting your time with Countess every time. 4:50 historically, one would never choose, say, Italy in WW2, so why complain about starting position when all you need do is restart? AND... reclaiming lands can be as mindless as you want. starting county is almost always paramount, so dedicate some workers and ignore them. bad weather a comin. 8:25... bad times came! 8:40 it's not the game he hates... 13:00 Like the bypass strat. see why you ignored reclamation, now. -Gotta eat. You are a bad lets player. Too technical, annoyed to the point of why are you playing it? Then just trying to rush through everything without trying to have fun with it. I get this vid is a little old, but still. Wanted to see the game but you would make people never want to try it.

I hit this map and it kicked my butt.
I played the absolute shit outa this game. Played very different though. I would take over every region on the map and max it all out.
Must have been time consuming.
Yeah it was but i loved playing the game. I remember the usa map took a good 6-7 hours to finish.

i do forge more crossbows ( 250) along with pikemen and peasants: very efficient against the Bishop and Countess who use lots of Armored units
and i attack early the latest conquests of my opponents so that slows them down
You play like a roaming Horde army, move conquer, and move on. Personally I prefer to spend time building up an empire that lasts 10,000 years.
How does one go about getting a copy of this game?

Ungku Azis Takes too long to break the walls down. If I can just take it with troops I do it to save time.

Exactly. It's kind of cool to see the optimized strat, but it is definitely against the spirit of how the game is supposed to be played.
