- After we get done with all the homestead chores this morning, and then playing with Nugget and Peaches, we are back getting the new greenhouse all together, and we are finishing up the fall garden by sowing carrot seeds, cover crop seeds, and English peas!!

I'm in England. When you cook the peas add just a teaspoonful of sugar. It's what my grandmother used to do... When you cook the first potatoes of the season especially if you're going to add them to a salad, boil them with a sprig of mint...

How in God's creation does that child remember all the names of her chickens and all the other animals on the homestead??? She is remarkable!! I had two eggs for breakfast, and they were both double yolkers!!!(from a box of jumbo eggs). Does MC have any plans on showing any of her Silkies at a chicken show?? I'm surprised MC hasn't named one of her orange/rust colored chickens "Carrot"!! I've seen old time farmers, when they plant their carrots, they lay a board on top of the row until they germinate then take it off to let the sun in! It 's supposed to keep the seeds in contact with the damp soil and you don't have to water them as often or not at all until you uncover them!! Try a section and see how it goes!! Who did MC inherit her long legs from?? You and Mrs.Cog Hill don't have long legs like her! It sounds like the daytime noises are calming down and the nighttime noises are revving up!! You are such a wholesome family and work so well together! Have a blessed day! (The " Flower Towers" came out real nice!)

mary carl is just a sweet young lady, very informative on her chickens.
sugars start to breakdown as soon as the pod leaves the plant, so fresh picked are sweater than something that has been shipped across the country.

First time seeing this video. Mary Carl went to feed the Alarm System and the flock followed that was absolutely crazy to see. Nobody crowding or fighting all shapes sizes and breeds of chickens, geese and ducks.and then there is Nugget!!

I live in New Zealand. I just love watching your family and all your farm yard animals . More and more you make me think about getting a couple of chickens.
Try soaking the peas overnight before sowing. It helps germination.
Yep. Helps with most all seeds except tiny ones
@@reneebrown2968 I fold my carrot seeds in a paper towel and put in a baggie and pour in a bit of water. It then make a corn starch slurry and let it cool. Mix the seeds in with the slurry and pipe out of a baggie. My carrot germination incrased by triple and less thinning.
@@kflan3342 This sounds interesting, but I’m not quite able to picture how you’re doing it. You put a the carrot seed in a paper towel and then in a baggie, then pour in water? Then you put the cornstarch slurry in the baggie? What’s the paper towel for?
Cynthia Fisher it holds the water. Just enough to keep moistened but not too much. I would imagine you could just put a little water in the bag with the seeds.

I received very sad news about my 18 year old cat today. He is in kidney failure and probably would have weeks. To look at him you would think he’s okay but he’s not. My Dad and I decided to put him down rather than him suffer. We will say goodbye on Monday. Your video with all the adorable animals and three terrific people put a smile on my face for a few moments. Thank you very much! What do you do with all the eggs? Mary Carl is amazing!
