  • Join Tom Cunliffe in the secret harbour of Dahouet on the North Brittany coast where he talks about the 40ft tidal rise and fall, salt-cod fishing boats setting out from here for the Grand Banks and being part of the Blessing of the Fleet.

Thank God for wholesome TH-camrs, of which Tom Cunliffe is one. They're a rare species and a privilege to discover.

Beautiful little harbour. I bet the little restaurants are lovely. The French are very friendly and hospitable if you try to speak their language and show some interest in their local dishes. Speaking their language is a mark of respect so that should be a given, if you love food and local dishes, you'll make friends. Turn up expecting them to speak English is a sure fire way to get a bad reception. Well done Tom and thanks for showing us this beautiful little secret harbour.

Very informative - thank you, once again. We were "blessed" by the priest in Calvi in Corsica but we still lost a lot of our nets in a storm. Mind you, I'm still alive to tell the tale so had better not knock it! But, ah! The joys of the Med with no (or very little) tide.

Beautiful place, one to add to my list. Friend of mine has just finished writing a new pilot book for West coast of France, not sure if this is included but thanks for sharing. Andy UK

Hi Andy. Dahouet is a perfect place - even the HMs are nice! It won't, however, be included in the West Coast of France pilot. You'll find the details in my guide, 'The Shell Channel Pilot'. All best Tom

What a lovely video! I'm actually an atheist, but as a scientist I am also aware that atheism is actually a belief, a belief that there is no god, but I'm also open to that which we have not been able to scientifically detect. I'm open too 🙂.

Indeed, there's more in life than the material. THIS which we call "reality" is but a vapor. The true reality is where we'll all go when our time here ends. How our story ends here and then continues depends upon serious study, sincerity, faith, courage, and desire to beg forgiveness facing the True and Living God. There is not a man or woman dead or alive who can use the sciences they call their "new religion" to prove God is mythology.
