can you make a backend roadmap video or a if you had to start over as a backend developer how would you go about it cause i know that's where you are centered would be really good to see a roadmap video from you cause you actually working in that area it would be interesting to see take on it please
Yea I definitely want to make this video, I am probably gonna do it in December as I should have upgrades to my setup by then, and I want to make sure that it is as high quality as possible. I feel like that is a pretty important topic, and I want to get it right
i had a lot of trouble with the android emulator, which had to run in windows host and port forward to wsl. I can't remember the specifics - this was about a year ago - but it was bad enough that i gave up and went to linux desktop. Problem is, all desktop managers in linux are inferior, and the linux kernel is way overrated - windows manages hardware much better. so now, as usual, i'm giving up on linux desktop for like the 20th time as daily dev setup & going back to windows / wsl2
Yea its a really annoying trade off. For me I have settled on Mac OS for my main setup (might make a video breaking it down in the future), I get the unix file system/terminal with the power/support of a mainstream os. Obviously Linux is very mainstream, its the most used OS in the world, I just mean mainstream for consumers, not business.
Manages hardware better, how exactly? Building Firefox goes about 20% faster on Linux than on Windows for me. For me as a developer, that is a HUGE margin when it comes to "managing hardware". So I guess that's why I am asking what you mean by that?
Just be careful on storing all your files there as it is prone to corrupt like the files are literally indicates as read-only. It happened to me 3 months ago.
The only downside to WSL for beginners is there is no GUI. Apparently you could install one, but it can be difficult and glitchy sometimes. Worst comes to worst, Virtualbox is a great option if you're worried about the whole partitioning thing and need a stable GUI.
Some processes are still very difficult. Like for example, trying to connect MongoDB Compass (installed locally on Windows) to a MongoDB local server (installed on WSL2)
Wsl has really changed the game for windows as a developer machine. Great video
missing windows with WSL for web development and now am switching back from mac to windows😅

@@bmdavis419 really much appreciated bro looking forward to seeing it when its done💯💯really enjoying the backend content btw keep it up 👍
Support of Docker and Kubernetes in WSL?
Is WSL2 only available on windows pro?
Simple and elegant 👍🏾

What about install linux subsystem on windows ?

Oh yea I probably should have also said this in the video, but basically every single file in there is a git repo stored on GitHub
Awhile ago I deleted Ubuntu on accident. Then I realized all my files were there 😅. Now my Ubuntu usr name is OHSHIT
I currently store all my files on C: drive because of that, are there better alternatives?
@@justadude8716 that will make you file rw slow
is wsl good for beginners. ? ? I have zero knowledge of Linus and was thinking about dual booting my devices . I don't want to damage my windows.
It is isolated so it will not hurt ur PC, the learning curve is ROUGH, but absolutely worth it
@@bmdavis419 will definitely go for it

Why do you use Homebrew on linux?
In Ubuntu some apps are quite old. Brew solves this problem and you have the newest app versions

Interesting stuff. Is anyone running docker via wsl? Thanks!
Yes. Works fine. WSL works with native speed as pure Linux (or very near). And modern Docker works on WSL2
For windows, I use git console..
I used to use that, it is 100x better than powershell, tho IMO having a full linux instance is worth it
Would like to see more on settings up and using VS Code with Go...
When I get my new computer in a few weeks here I will make a video going over my setup in detail (settings, macros, extensions, etc.)
@@bmdavis419 look forward to it 👍
