BANDUNG, INDONESIA - Welcome to Bandung city and the ultimate food tour at Jalan Braga!
Braga Street is a street in the centre of Bandung (Indonesia), famous in 1920s colonial Indonesia as a promenade street. A European ambience of elegant cafes, boutiques and restaurants on the streets led Bandung to acquire the Dutch nickname 'Parijs van Java'. Importantly, this street also offers a variety of traditional Bandung (street) food. The food I was most interested in trying was mih kocok iga, comro, and telur gulung.
MIH KOCOK IGA is a noodle dish with cow foot and short ribs. Kocok means 'shake', thus due to the preparation and cooking process the meat is 'shaky', juicy and super delicious. This dish consists of yellow noodles served in beef broth, sliced cow's foot, shorts ribs, bean sprouts, and sprinkled with sliced celery, dumplings, and fried onions. Squeeze some lime juice in to make it taste sharper!
COMRO (oncom di jero) is another traditional snack that originated in Bandung city. The dough is made from cassava and a little bit of tapioca flour, which is later made with various fillings (usually coconut, various spices and 'oncom' - something similar to tempeh) and then deep-fried.
Last but not least, TELUR GULUNG (rolled fried egg) is a variation of fried eggs (plain or with fillings) in which an egg is fried and then rolled using a skewer which is usually made from bamboo tree wood. This food is often served and sold in schools, but adults love it too!
The soup and other street food that I tried were very delicious, super fresh and so complex! The food definitely complemented each other, thus making my short food tour so memorable!!

The term DAENG is a typical term from South Sulawesi which means brother or older person, it does look different from the original konro soup from the city of Makassar
