      @@almac9203 All part of Indonesia have this kind of food and views but the most popular tourist attractions is Yogyakarta, Java, Jakarta (my home!!), Surabaya, etc. There's always something for everybody so you won't get bored here :D!!

    fun fact there are roughly more than 40 kind of soto all over Indonesia, differs depending on the region! there are soto with clear broth, there's also the creamier ones where they add coconut milk into it. beside chicken, the meat in soto varies between beef, goat, and the entrails of either of those two. on rarer case there's also soto with soya beans or pork or fish

    The deep fried nut crackers is called "Rempeyek". It has many toppings, peanuts, soy bean, mung beans, little anchovy, that's all the toppings that i know.

    Im Filipino and Indonesian food is so similar to ours, But with different ingredients, like halo-halo (pronounced ha-lo ha-lo not hay-lo hay-lo) our version has different fruits like banana coconut

      I'm sure it's in local currency idr. based on the "higher than normal price" i think she's eating from good restaurants. Better hygiene.
      but even if you got sick from foreign food, it would only last for few days, your body will gain immunity after that. Just to make sure you're hydrated during your sick period, and in rare case it gets worse, seek doctor asap.

    "the deep fried crackers with crunchy peanut" snack is called 'rempeyek' or 'peyek'!! ❤ aside of peanut, usually peyek is also made with soy beans, mung beans, salted fish/anchovies/'ikan asin', or little shrimps/'udang rebon'! my favorite is probably salted fish peyek lol, they're just very savory and delicious.

    I'm indonesian and i miss my days back when I'm young. We usually went to batu city (east java) and due to the lower temp there, every morning i would wake up to bakso seller ringing his bamboo (idk what is it but it sound abit like drums made of wood) to annouce his presence XDD i immediately run bare feet with my blankets wrapped around me like cocoon just to plead to my mom to buy some. Immediately brushed my teeth and went to eat it in on the little swing outside, sunbathing. Best memories. Now can only go back like once every 2 years... last time i went back, i go there and was doing/ eating anything i can till me and my whole fam get sick (exhausted), well i havent been back for 5 years so it's worth it😂😂

    Prawn crackers are actually very popular in Malaysia ( or Indonesia as well idk ), especially for Chinese people. We always buy them as one of the Chinese new year snacks 😆

      that’s interesting bcs in indonesia prawn crackers are mostly eaten with the most basic local street food like soto, nasi/mi goreng and gado gado, never for chinese food.

      Interesting bcs here in Indonesia we always eat with crackers. Prawn, fish, garlic crakers, rice crackers, rempeyek, opak from casava, kerupuk from pecel Semanggi Idk the name, etc
      Even some dish have it's own crackers.

    i'm glad that you enjoyed your food in here! and fyi, those deep fried crakers with peanut are called 'peyek' or 'rempeyek' in my area. basically you can make rempeyek with anything, not only peanut. my aunt makes rempeyek with cashew or shrimp and it tastes amazing.
