Awe. Alisa it’s so lovely to see you so excited over your gorgeous Fabric. You were truly born to do what you are doing with your wonderful pair of hands, and your a joy to watch. We all love you for spending time and teaching us. Your just a wee Gem ❤️🇨🇦
I love cotton Voile. It is a favorite. It sews so nice. I know what you mean about be afraid to mess up your fabric. All your fabric is BEAUTIFUL . I dream of buying from Mood. 😊 One day. Thank you for sharing
That's a great idea, I think with that fabric the simpler you go - the better will be the result. I can't wait to start working with these fabrics - so excited! Thank you so much for your comment! :)
I have a zillion yards of that beige twill and it makes great trousers, frays like a freak, but sews up nicely. I love Mood. I order from them a lot, I’ve never gotten a dud, but I do get swatches. Great haul, can’t wait to see what you make.
Cat, that is so good to know - thank you for your comment! I had pants in mind for that twill to begin with, so I am super excited for the most unexciting fabric out of this fabric haul, LOL. Go figure ;)
Beautiful fabric! You are so lucky. I can only dream about buying from online shops because of our exchange rate and shipping costs. Can't wait to see what you've made
I think it was a great video and I understand about the fabric. I have gotten a ton of fabrics because I look for between two and three dollars and anything less I always get a lot. And I don’t sew quick enough to get through it.
I had the great honor of going to moods on Saturday. The fabric was absolutely gorgeous. It was overwhelming to see so much design fabric . They have four different level of fabric and notions. There was many Professional sew there as well as begins. I made a day out of it. Like many people I watch project runway. The staff was very helpful and courteous.
Very nice Fabric! You selected some gorgeous Fabrics! I am so looking forward to seeing what you do with them! Yes I do shop at mood occasionally, because it can be a little pricey to purchase there all the time! Also, like you, I don’t like posting Fabric hauls either but I know it’s something our audience really enjoys watching, so I do them on rare occasions!
Myra, hello there! Yep, i don'tdo fabric hauls at all... I just have enough fabric to last me for a few years, and I struggle with that in so many ways... but on a positive note - I can't wait to get to this fabric and use it in the sewing projects. I think I would be very much afraid to cut into it at first :)
Thank you so much! It was definitely one of a kind experience that would not have if not for the gift card! I am glad I was able to share it with everyone here!
Thank you for this video! I keep shopping around Mood Fabric's website and was so apprehensive in ordering but after watching your video, I am sold! I am about to embark on sewing an outfit for my daughter with a cotton sateen fabric we found at their site as well as one of their free sewing patterns. Wish me luck it has been a while since I've sewn anything!
The fabric is stunning...but... I need to go look in your content list for the top pattern that you're wearing!! I LOVE IT!! Please tell me you made a video of this top?
I used a mesh lace for a costume I made. It’s very heavy and slips a lot when cutting. Certain portions of my pattern needed to be sewn by hand because it wouldn’t go through my machine properly. In the end it was worth it, because the dress was beautiful!
I'd suggest you check out LizSews newest video about the construction of a bra, she uses material similar to your embroidered mesh, maybe you could use the remnants for something like that! :) I browse mood at least once a month even though the exchange rate and shipping mean that I'd never be able to order from them, so I'm super happy and excited for you! Can't wait to see what you make from it all :) x
Kirsten - such a great idea! Thank you so much! I totally get you.... when I used to live in UK I would hop at Abakhan and I miss it so much, sometimes I will look on their website, but ordering from them to ship overseas would defeat the purposed of shopping at lower cost fabric store.
Scraps from the embroidered fabric could make beautiful lingerie. I’ve been watching some videos from Ohh Lulu in preparation for making some bralettes for my grand daughter. Lingerie sewing looks so interesting!
So true - that is such a good suggestion! And for lingerie you can use smaller scraps too! Maybe that is what I am going to do! Thank you so much for a suggestion!
I loved this tutorial, but even more so, I love the shirt you are wearing and the blazer in the background. I have the perfect fabric for the blazer. Where can I find the video's for the shirt and blazer. I really apprecate you and all the time you put into these videos. So much so, that I only watch yours. If you suggest going to another site, only then do I leave your page. Thank you so very much!!
Joanne, my wedding dress fabric - hmmm... I think on Ebay. It was a beautiful burnt out organza, very nice fabric, not too difficult to work with. But it also was about 5 years ago, not sure if prices went up drastically on the fabric.
Yes at times I'm glad I can't afford silk.😥 Was reading article literally a couple of days ago about the musts do and don'ts of washing and sewing and etc etc with silk. I'm always so heartbroken when you do everything right and in these specific kinds of materials- you do 3 stitches, with the newest sharpest most appropriate needle and BAM....theres a run the size of the Nullarbor across the most obvious part of your fabric😫. And of course, the fabric is the kind of colour you can see even a miniscule mistake on..... so a run is just tragic!!!😭 Yes I love the "3D" fabric😍, saw it in Threads magazine a month or so ago- which is just the exact same print, printed onto a solid fabric and then a sheer over lay, and the effect is of course like 3D, and depending on the pattern you just treat them as one piece, with the overlay able to be free alittle to move around some, creating the affect. Can look gorgeous like in a 1950s dress where the front is all one piece no seams, so you get the full gorgeous affect as you naturally move around❤️. My favourite material, which I can never afford☹️ unless in the remnant pile😁, is Sateen (your 97% cotton 3% elast ones). I make tight (not extreme) but very fitted tops and it's like wearing nothing at all. And being cotton, is breathable etc for Perth days with normal 37-45° days. And anything during a western Australia summer that can help when you can't afford air-conditioning, is an absolute blessing❤️❤️❤️
I didn't care for the print on the silk, but it's lovey and I too would be scared to mess up that luxurious fabric.Silk isn't the type you put in the washing machine it seems it be better to dry clean it.And I personally don't go to the dry cleaners,I always prefer wash and wear in my fabric selection. Good luck in sewing that lovey silk for a wonderful summer outfit💖💞👘👚💎💎
I think the most expensive fabric I have bought was 21 some dollars a yard but when it was on sale for $7.20 a yard. 😹. Otherwise I could have never afforded the 5 yards I needed.
Hi u are so helpful can u give a pattern of d top u are wearing. Can u give an easy elastic waist slacks like d grey one u model but not so tight thank u
You had a video recently saying you missed out on some Spit up and Stilettos patterns before the company closed down, and I wanted to share this link I stumbled upon to download their patterns www.hoopesparkstudios.com/whatever-happened-sew-loft/ Hope what you were looking for is still there!
