Blake in V9 was pretty much trying to fill the role Ruby usually does (and yeah character development she's regained her optimism) to be the one constantly pushing the team that things will be okay and stuff but in doing so it kinda just hurt Ruby more :(. and yes she was having a time being basically literally in one of her favorite childhood stories.
I kinda love it she always thought that life wasnt a Fairy tale which it isnt but too be in a fairy tale world she can refind her hopes and happiness and belief in the world again.
I'm all on board with trashing RWBY for their plot holes, distracting side narratives, and plot holes, but Blake being super into fairy tales actually is consistent with her character. She hates reality, so she finds her escape through reading (which you should notice that she's now doing a lot less of...though that's probably just more of a happy coincidence). Reading books all the time likely makes her pretty well read on fairy tales...though why they make her be the vehicle for ALL of the exposition without any question is up for debate (like, even you and I know about the story of Alice in Wonderland IRL). At least Yang and Weiss should be chiming in to help complete the exposition.
Strong argument to be made that Blake easily had the best time of the team in Vol 9. Didn’t lose her arm to a raccoon like Yang, didn’t get bullied by fairy tale logic like Weiss, and didn’t have crippling depression like Jaune and Ruby lol. She finally kissed Yang and got to explore her favorite childhood book, wasn’t all easy but she def had the least going against her throughout the Vol
She’s such a book nerd over the story of “The Girl who Fell Through The World”. Blake has grown so much from the isolated former terrorist Faunus running from her past, her culture and her family. She has become much stronger now, braver, and compassionate and has found a love in a certain blonde huntress who’s an extraordinary person, her brave golden champion who she was never intimidated by. Blake Belladonna, Huntress and Freedom Fighting Faunus, and Girlfriend of Yang Xiao Long. 💛🖤
Blake's stuff with Yang was always cute and charming, but I do like given her book knowledge she sort of became the expert of this volume even if the world was different from what she expected off the story.
She stole the entire spotlight whenever she appeared on screen. It warms my heart up so much seeing how much she has grown as a person revealing that she was always a kind hearted, supportive sweetheart that was always hiding deep inside of her because of her trauma in the earlier volumes. She just needed to be assured she's safe with her teammates no matter what, she needed someone she could trust. Her taking the leadership role here and always being so encouraging just shows how incredibly wise and amazing she is. Her qualities literally never end. Its funny to me how before she said: "The real world isnt the same as a fairy tale" yet now she was in one, living in her own personal love story fairy tale with Yang. Bless the true best girl that is Blake Belladonna 💜
Blake’s damn ears get cuter every volume I swear. Also I just adore how confident she has become, she’s come so far hell yeah. She went from having severe trust issues and suppressing pretty much everything about herself (v1-3) to being toxic and reactive (v4) to taking on responsibilities instead of running from them (v5) to trying to make up for past mistakes and facing her trauma head on (v6) to finally being confident, supportive, kind, and communicative (v7-9) I adore this character growth and it frustrates me when people point to her awful behavior in s4 as a reason she’s a bad person. She went through hell and it messed her up (not an excuse, but an explanation) then she changed for the better and became a wonderful person and teammate. Hell yeah
@@hyperslash2144 Yep, I would bet Yang despite having a whole plotline that had her seperate doing her own thing with her own squad that got a decent amount of focus in V8 got more dialogue in V9 than V8 too. Just the nature of things when your dealing with 5 main characters instead of like 9+ and a bunch of supporting characters. Also only 2 recurring antagonist vs a whole squad of them and then ALSO Ironwood.
Why is it so satisfying when Blake says, “I think we’re in a fairy tail” and the background music just makes it feel so magical! IS IT JUST ME ORRRRRRRRRR?????
Blake spent the first half of the volume before Jaune showed up and kinda informed the team "by the way shits really really real" and Ruby started to fall apart fully to get the message across that yes shit is indeed VERY REAL now getting a bunch of scenes of her practically fangirling over being in one of her favorite childhood stories, was really cute.
It shows how much Blake has changed, and it’s all thanks to Ruby she’s the who shares her hopes and happiness with her teammates and her sisters. Especially how much Blake started to fall in love with my Blonde of the Team RWBY. 🐈⬛🖤🐝
One thing that intrigues that Team RWBY never run out of Dust ammo throughout Volume 9. Imagine if they learn a new technique like infusing their Aura into laser blasts to fire in ranged combat.
Running out of ammo is for chumps. But yeah they don't run out of ammo, but they nearly do run out of dust. Weiss did state that she was low on dust, and we see very little of her changing her semblance's effects with dust, same for Blake. Sidenote, we don't see a lot of yang's stickies.
Blake has really grown in every volumes, I really love her development. She's really change since Volume 1, she went to neglected to compassion. And a person who loves books so much. Ever since that she has grown in each volume. Then in volume 4-5 she finally take back the White Fang and finally face her fears. In volume 6 she took down her worst nightmare with the help with Yang. And ever since that, she has really change the following volumes. Even today. I'm proud of my kitty. 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Mmnn... interesting it looks like team RWBY ALMOST got the same amount of voice lines on this volume🤔. ●Ruby =16:00 ●Weiss =10:00 ●Blake =10:00 ●I hope Yang got the same treatment as the last two. But something tells me that's not the case 😅. This is what happens when you don't have to deal with TO MANY characters in one Arc (Iam looking at you 👉V7👈😑)
Well there's like a 4th the amount of characters this volume compared to the Atlas Arc lol. It was nice though to just get a volume basically about the Girls + Jaune.
Blake went from being quite to more expressive. In my opinion, I love her evolution. It just like me. I went from being quite to more expressive. And Blake’s relationship with Yang is the best and I love their relationship 🐝 And that’s why Blake will always be my favorite character. Blake: the one and only Faunus/huntress/The Girlfriend of Yang 🐝🖤💛
Too bad she’s lost her backbone, though. She went from taking on a crime lord by herself to cowering behind her girlfriend because her friend was upset.
@@Tw0Dots Blake's supposed to be more than her previous relationship. She wasn't meant to be some delicate flower who always needed saving or would recoil as soon as someone raised their voice at her, certainly not from her younger-than-her leader. She was a competent fighter who was able to stand up for herself and her beliefs, but that gradually started to wither away ever since she rejoined team RWBY.
They made her look more beautiful than ever in this volume and I was so here for it. The bookworm got to be part of one of her favorite fairytales! On a side note I love how bouncy her voice is when she's being expressive. Blake and Weiss are so my favorites.
Blake's character development doesn't get enough credit, IMO. She's easily among the best developed characters in the show, going from a brooding loner defined by her dark past in the White Fang to a more optimistic and open person who learns to let people into her life; her and Yang getting together in this Volume feels like the culmination of that (as well as Yang's arc of coming to terms with her feelings for Blake) and I love it.
I think those are dialog wise like 90% Ruby, Jaune, CC and the Blacksmith. Yang has like one pretty significant scene in 9 when they first find Tree Ruby but that's it really. Just how it is when there's limited screen time. Ruby and Jaune had the main dramatic plots to resolve, CC's the main villain and the Blacksmith is basically god and had to explain a ton of world building.
The fact that this video is only 9 minutes and 13 seconds long says something about blake, and that 90% of the things she said where about the book, 9% of it was about yang, and the last 1% was about John.
Volume 1 Blake: "Reality is dark and cruel, and life sucks."
Volume 9 Blake: "Wow, cool fairy tales and life is awesome!"

Blake: Alyx fought a jabberwalker
Also Blake: What's a jabberwalker?
Maybe in the book it wasn't clarified what "Jabberwalker" exactly is
It’s good that she’s got more speaking lines in this volume than she had in Volume 8.
Made sense tbh, this volume focused solely on them and jaune and it gave more screen time to them in general

1:54 Blake Belladonna: "A talking raccoon."
Rocket Raccoon: "There's only one of me and that's me!"
Rocket is clearly from the Ever After and just doesn't want to admit it.
"Ain't no thing like me, except me!"

0:57 arryn zech really learned how to speak in cursive for this ONE LINE
Between this and Aleviah Wolfe's edit, Blake fans are eating good today!
Comparing this to season 8, she got 3x the length of speaking from 3:19 to 9:32
Weiss went from 4:00 to 9:58
And Ruby went from 8:43 to 15:27
There were far fewer characters and scenes (parallel plots) in this volume too. That probably explains it.

She wasn't that way for a good reason tbh
She was silent due to distrust of people after being gaslit by Adam.
@Leon S.Kennedy its called character development.
