Kilkenny won that one fair and hard..Cork Had no test in Munster that year they beat Waterford by 31pts i was at it we all taught Cork were unbeatable...one senior memerber of the Cork management camp said"if 10 of ye play ye will beat them"...it cost them dearly and Kilkenny repeted the dose in 1983...i allways admired Kilkenny every decade and i would go as far as saying that was an Exellent Cork team but if Offaly hadnt beat Killkenny in 1984 Lenister final i dont think Cork would ever have won the Centenary final..they would never beat that Killkenny team in Championship Hurling..paddy Sullivan cork.
Offaly didn't beat Kilkenny in 1984. They beat Wexford, who had surprisingly beaten the Cats courtesy of a Tony Doran goal in the previous round. Offaly DID beat the Cats in 1985 after a replay. Straight knockout back then as we all know

Wexford beat Kilkenny in Leinster semi final. Was there. Tony Doran scored a brilliant last minute goal to win it.
