Andreas being cast as G'Kar was one of those rare moments when the actor and character came together as if by destiny. Babylon 5 just wouldn't be the epic series that it is without G'Kar, and G'Kar wouldn't have been the epic character he is without Andreas. It worked so perfectly.
I was the EFX Make-up Supervisor for a season on B5 And had the pleasure of working with Andreas. The life he gave to the make-up was amazing. He was truly G'Kar. An amazing actor, An amazing person.

DaveVelo1 - G-Kar was easily the best character in B5, he seemed to go through the most changes, the most complete character and Andreas Katsulas was a fine actor. 👍🏻

Wonderful acting, wonderful character. I loved watching the magic that character brought to the show. Such magnificent presence, and I loved how G'Kar evolved into someone gentle, kind, thoughtful, articulate, and (to me) very spiritual. Seeing him on screen was my favorite time in that show, and seeing him interact with Lando was so thrilling, it filled me with awe. Thanks for this, and so sorry to discover he has gone. G'Kar... probably one of the best characters to ever grace the genre of Sci-Fi, brought to life by one of the best actors to have ever graced the Earth. R.I.P. Andreas, you are sorely missed.
there arn't enough words in human languages to describe Andreas Katsulas. So much to say where to start? Rest In Peace Andreas Katsulas. You will be missed. Thanks for being G'Kar and making B5 awesome series. You were truly wisest of us all. Peace.
His delivery of the lines here is just amazing both to watch and listen to. Whenver he appeared in a role, either on Star Trek TNG, a movie or in his role as G`kar he would always deliver a top notch performance. Thank you for the memories, mr. Katsulas.
I just cried like a waterfall. Some hours ago I even saw again the last episode of B5 too. So still lots of emotions within me. Great tribute!! And B5 is one of the greatest series of all time. High quality characters (also actors) and perfect story telling.
It's March 31, 2020 and the world is slowly circling the drain from an unseen enemy. I find myself reliving great memories from my favorite sci-fi shows on TH-cam. B5 was definitely in that category. To Z Team Productions, nicely done. The clip of G'Kar's speech at the end of Season 3, episode 22 resonates with me right now on a worldly scale. "No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain." Be safe everybody.
I can't thank you enough. I watch this at least one a week and really think about what JMS is saying through the voice of G'kar. An incredible actor and an incredible series. B5 - you are NOT forgotten.
A great actor who made a great character come to life. I miss Andreas Katsulus, and I miss G'kar. Unless a way can be found to get this magnificent series rebroadcast, generations to come will miss out on its insight, lessons, and message. Wish there was a way that we could convince the powers that be to get Babylon 5 back on the air.
It's being re-aired in the UK on a fairly regular basis thankfully. It was recently on Watch and I got up at 7 every morning just to watch it again. Also the box sets on DVD are quite easy to get hold of and surprisingly cheaply. I have them all now including Crusade. B5 is THE greatest single sci-fi show ever made imo and that comes from a lifelong Star Trek fan who until B5 came along didn't admit the existence of any show that didn't have the words Star Trek or Dr Who in its title.
He was good. He was really good. Charismatic, graceful, brilliant.. Powerful presence. And his voice.. so expressive, deep, so soft and..gentle. So peaceful. And he could change that amazing voice combining it with his piercing stare from benevolent to quite intimidating. Rest in peace,Andreas. You will be remembered. You are missed..
Awesome compilation of great writing and great acting, not to mention a perfect musical score to back it up. The character of G'Kar has only grown in my estimation over the years since Babylon 5 was made. Heartbreaking, really. And that is a good thing.
Man, I didn't know he passed. G'kar was always one of my favorite characters. Even though I was a small child when I watched Babylon 5, it was one of my favorite shows. A really great video tribute to a great actor and character.
Thank you, this tribute brought me to tears! One of the few great crossover actors. Having played a great Romulan, Tomalak, in Star Trek The Next Generation he was then cast as G'Kar! Praise the Great Maker!
I very much like the very emotional music you used from the greatly underestimated movie 'Dragonheart'. G'Kar indeed possessed a Dragonheart and will live on forever in our own hearts...
Another great acter lost to the ages, There are some character's acters were ment to play, and some acters could not even touch. But the character of G'Kar was ment to be played by Andreas Katsules. Look and see if youcan find another acter who could bring to life that character so well. Even with all the make-up on and only his eyes and mouth showing, you can see all the emotions there on G'Kars face, all the pain, anger, happiness, sarrow. everything Andreas pored into G'Kar came through the make-up. G'Kar lived in and throw Andreas.... He will be missed
Where have you been? It's been 3 weeks already, yes. Jerry Doyle has passed away at the age of 60, still no reasons why or of what. I've been told he loved to party, but listening to his radio show I'm more to believe it was his smoking habit as he was a heavy smoker.

I played this vid to my brother on the night my father passed away. We are both big B5 fans, I felt the writing was brilliant and these words had and do have a very special meaning beyond the programme itself
Andreas Katsulas was an under rated actor and his role as G'Kar is one of the best in scifi history. It was a joy to see G'Kar's character development, so much depth perfectly executed by Andreas.
One of the greatest fictional characters ever created. I love so much Sheridan, Delenn, Londo, Ivanova, Franklin, Lennier and Michael... but G'Kar? Oh my God G'Kar...I connected with him in every facet of his person.
G'kar was definitely one of the best characters to ever grace a sci fi show. Andreas really brought him to life in a way no one else could. Some of the best acting you will ever likely see. He added realism and emotion to an already amazing show, making B5 the best sci fi that I think will ever be produced. They just do not make them like this anymore, and I doubt they ever will. Some of the dialogs between G'kar and londo are amazingly well acted and produced. Sci fi at it's very best, makes me happy every time I watch it.
The whole series was well written, but so many of the best lines were given to G'Kar. And Andreas hit a home run every time. And this was perfect. Great editing and perfect counterpoint music.
I just got threw watching the series again and im just amazed how much more the series means to me watching as an adult. The character G'kar that Andreas Katsulas plays and Londo Peter Jurasic plays are simply amazing. Thank you for creating this video its a great tribute to an extraordinary actor.
GKar is the moment that defines Andreas Katsula. He is the heart and sould of B5. Who can ever forget those moments with Peter Jurassic , Londo, pure magic.
G'Kar is without question the character who grew and evolved the most in Babylon 5. Andreas Katsulas played the role to absolute perfection and while it would be an injustice to forget his other awesome work on TV and in films this will rightly be the role he is best remembered for. It's astonishing that he didn't get a mantlepiece full of Emmy's for this amazing portrayal. As long as babylon 5 is aired anywhere in any format he will be remembered and missed. Thank you for your wonderful work and thank you for leaving these wonderful memories.
Thank you for sharing this! The universe is a darker place without him. But he touched so many people's hearts that a part of him is still alive in all of us.
Rest in Peace. You gave a great character in B5 a live. Seeing the change of this character was only possible by your actoring. Your living as long as a fan as I will love the series you are a part of.
My beautiful prince, my red knight, my love and the best character of the entire B5 saga. Full of pride, dignity and wisdom. I will always love and respect you. Will always keep a part of yourself with me.

I say this often in life, but I cannot think of a better place to share this thought: "We are mayflies standing at the edge of the cosmos, contemplating the infinite. Enjoy your day." This man WAS G'kar, and the soul he brought to the role was beyond inspirational, it was the instruction for a lifetime. See you beyond the Rim, Andreas.
His was my favorite character on the show - so full of life and hope and pain and courage. I never met Andreas, though I do have his autograph. A little bit of him sits within me and he goes with me throughout my life.
My friends all knew that I was an absolute B5 nerd when it first aired in the 90s. None of them were in to Sci fi much and when I'd describe the show to the uninitiated, I'd talk about the story and how the acting for the humans wasn't great but the aliens were really good. In rewatching the series (many times), I realized that the actors playing the humans did a credible job. They weren't bad at all. Claudia Christian, in particular, was very good. They were unfortunate in that they shared the screen with Peter Jurasik and Andreas Katsulas and didn't do well in the comparison but only because Londo and G'Kar were so good.
I do not think anyone else could have carried that part as well as him. He had the right voice, presence and carriage for the warrior poet.
He was the only actor with the sensitivity and empathy as well as the ability to project the inner strength of G'kar.

there arn't enough words in human languages to describe Andreas Katsulas.
Katsulas.
I find myself back here every few months for an emotional refresh
Me, too. Me, too.
Me as well.
I just cried like a waterfall. Some hours ago I even saw again the last episode of B5 too. So still lots of emotions within me. Great tribute!! And B5 is one of the greatest series of all time. High quality characters (also actors) and perfect story telling.
11 years on now and we all lovers of great artists and science fiction miss you still so much Andreas.
A great actor, and probably the greatest character I have ever witnessed.
Rest in peace Andreas, we won't forget you.
His voice and his words still give me goosebumps
in times of longing listen to your heart you will hear him
I come back to this now and then, and it still makes me tear up. We miss the part of you that left, sir...thank you for the lessons you taught me
Hard to believe it's been almost 15 years now. Andreas and G'Kar will always hold a place in my heart.
I was just thinking that very same thing when I saw he passed in 2006.
I agree. G'kar was one of my favorite characters in B5 his transformation and growth through out the show was just amazing.
Some of the Words in this Video Make Sense for the World We live in Right Now for We need people Who can Speak Out with the Same Heart & Soul .
I love this video tribute to the great Andreas Katsulas, it brings tears to my eyes every time I see it.
Thank you for this. It brought me to the edge of tears. It was beautiful. And thank you to Andreas for the brilliance that was his talent.
True heroes never die. Andreas will be remembered tru all of time as long as there are Babylon 5 fans (and in whatever shape or form it is watched)
Never be forgotten !! B5 Best in Sci fi history !
The moment I heard the opening notes of that stunning score, the tears that were already welling in my eyes fell uncontrollably. This is wonderful.
One of the greatest character performances in television history.
I had no idea that he had died. A great actor and favorite of mine on Babylon 5. RIP Andreas Katsulas you will not be forgotten.
My favorite character on B5. Andreas was perfect for the part. He is sorely missed.
Katsula's death left the world a darker place
which is why we must take his lessons and use them to show the light....
But his life left it that much brighter.
You miss that part of him who left more than the part of him who stayed.
Just like in the film,he went beyond the rim and there we will meet all our loved ones who went before and we will never be alone...
This is the reason, Babylon 5 can never be remade, who would or could carry off this role? R.I.P. Andreas / G'Kar, you are so missed.
I had to see this again, because after last week and Jerry Doyle's passing away there needs to be a tribute video for Garabaldi.
+Maddog the Jerry Doyle tribute is posted on the B5 Videos channel: th-cam.com/video/Qdp6jBpHWT4/w-d-xo.html
No way? Jerry Doyle has now gone beyond the Rim? Fuck me dead... :-(
There is also a tribute to Richard Biggs uploaded on youtube which is also good.
Jerry Doyle DEAD ????
Where have you been? It's been 3 weeks already, yes. Jerry Doyle has passed away at the age of 60, still no reasons why or of what. I've been told he loved to party, but listening to his radio show I'm more to believe it was his smoking habit as he was a heavy smoker.

and liking what you do counts as well when creating art,a feel that you must accomplish the art you are about to do be it painting playing music writing poetry whatever the feeling in your heart and mind...
@@tomabbott5259 Absolutely. There must be a certain joy in it, even if that "joy" sometimes takes the form of slavishly listening to your muse. Done right, the results produce miracles.
"I'm leaving this message for you because it appears i must leave sooner than i had intended."
it's not fair. no one ever said it was -.-
This is amazing, Andreas Katsulas the part of me that is staying misses the part of you that is gone. We should all be so lucky to be remembered in such a fantastic way. You left this world but part of you remains and I hope that part of us went with you.
'A toast...to absent friends, in memory still bright"
What an absolute amazing character! An amazing actor too! I only just finished the series, but it just dawned on me that G'Kar is my favorite character. Incredible! RIP!
What he said in the series is so true for today.
(Kosh voice) "The truth points to itself"
this is beautiful. Thank you for making this.
What a wonderful tribute to this stellar actor and the enduring character he portrayed with such elegance and intelligence. Thank you.
His character ( G'kar ) teaches alot about our soul
This is a beautiful video and I truly think Andreas would be moved to now how much you care for him thank you on his behalf
Never heard better words of wisdom. G'Kar was my favourite character on B5, so very well played by Andreas Katsulas! Thank you for the memories!
GKar is the moment that defines Andreas Katsula. He is the heart and sould of B5.
Who can ever forget those moments with Peter Jurassic , Londo, pure magic.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free
We are one.
But he touched so many people's hearts that a part of him is still alive in all of us.
ugh...the dragonheart soundtrack...Babylon v was magical. thank you for doing this tribute. Gkar has always been a secret sci-fi hero of mine
a good man and a great actor R I P
Andreas was a great actor..and this role.......pivotal for him and for this show..perfect casting for perfect characters on one of the best shows ever
Rest in Peace. You gave a great character in B5 a live. Seeing the change of this character was only possible by your actoring. Your living as long as a fan as I will love the series you are a part of.
A beautiful, fitting and emotional tribute to both a brilliant actor and an amazing character alike. RIP
Much love x
My beautiful prince, my red knight, my love and the best character of the entire B5 saga. Full of pride, dignity and wisdom. I will always love and respect you. Will always keep a part of yourself with me.
Stupendous! Simply stupendous delivery...
Mr. Katsulas, this was your finest hour.
Brilliance.
Tears. Every single time.
Years pass since I first watched this and I always find myself coming back to watch this. He was always my favorite on the show.
G'Kar will live forever!!!!
One of the best clips I have seen to remember not just the actor but his character in the TV show. And yes I did shed a tear cos he was my favourite of all the b5 characters. And his words of wisdom have helped me in my time of darkness. RIP my friend, you live on in all of us.
Awesome tribute, I have missed B5 for a long time, thanks for sharing this. May the Gods light Andreas' path in the Other world. He will be missed.
Absolutely wonderful voice, wonderful actor and sadly missed 😢
Great actor and will be missed.
Very nice video and thanks for making it.
A truly great tribute, to one of televisions best actors.
This video is sooo brilliantly edited with the clips of audio and video... It brings tears to my eyes... R.I.P. G'Kar/Andreas
