It is said that, when Emperor Vir Cotto rebuilt the capital of the Centauri Republic, he had two large statues placed outside the city gates: Londo Mollari, and G'Kar. They are positioned on opposite sides of the gate, facing away from each other. Together, they protect the Republic...and watch each other's backs.
Beat me too it was going to mention that as described by mr Garibaldi who recognized the statues placement in that manner such an incredible storytelling element in the end espeically their conversation before the ending between them happened where Londo fully opened up to Gkar about everything to the man who would be simultaneously his greatest fear and greatest friend
I'll always think that it was G'Kar's forgiveness that gave Londo the strength to face what the Drakh had in store for him. Yes, he was doing it for his people, but I think G'Kar's forgiveness gave Londo hope.
what are those earth creatures called ?? long build wet feet go quakk ! cats !! yes ... like beeing nimbled to death by cats !! londo always made me laugh
@@makinapacal I came to post that. One of the best interactions of many those two had. Andreas and Peter were close friends, but you'd never know it the way they just couldn't stand each other on-screen until the end. It didn't help that Andreas was a method actor and required being in-character at all times in while in the costume and make-up.
@@AuthorDodgeMerrin , I identified with those guys because I did that work all of my life, first in field service and then in power plants. There was nothing like walking in, instantly knowing where to look for the problem that was keeping the plant from running, easily fixing it, then watching everything works properly. Not quite as important as the B5 defense grid, but you get the picture. Great for one's ego.
They just don't make SciFi shows like this anymore. The amount of character development was outstanding. The writers focused on the story, not the effects.
Yes. Good writing came first, and everything else bloomed around it. The wonderful actors could rise to their best, and everything else, like music, design, photography, fell into place. I think the story and the emotion inspired everyone involved to another level.
The episode that blew my socks off was "Believers" during the first season. After that episode I realized that here was a series written like none before; not afraid to take chances, treating religion with respect instead of callous dismissal. This was a series written to eclipse anything labeled "Trek".
Which one? G'Kar had three get "elevator" scenes in the series. First, when he and Londo are insulting each other waiting for the elevator. Second, when he runs into Vir in the elevator after their war stared. And third, when they thought they would die in the elevator.
Londo: Even though we are not at war, military spending has increased (I think it was 50%, but cant remember). Why? G'Kar: Well with everyone now at peace with one another, perhaps you are planning to invade yourselves for a change. I find the idea curiously appealing. Once you've finished killing each other, we can plow over all the buildings and plant rows of flowers that spell out the words "too annoying to live", in letters big enough to be seen from space. Would you like some spoo? It's fresh! Londo: Faa! Get that away from me! Spoo needs to age, it needs time to cultivate it's flavor. To eat fresh spoo is to insult a Centauri!
I was just thinking of that scene the other day and considering making it a standalone video! "Londo. Where was it going?" "I don't know. Do I look like a chef to you?"
It might not go in here but the moment G'kar buys him a drink in the early series, the look of horror Londo has, when he realises just how badly his actions have messed everything up. I think that's part of the moment when Londo realises that G'kar can be a good person.
I will say this. I would love it if someone of some group redid the series. Kept all the live action stuff. Kept everything... but redid the CG'd moments with Modern tech and Animation. IMAGINE HOW SICK THAT'D BE!!! That aside. You know what. This series was just so well written. I can't honestly think of a moment when watching the show I ever got tired of it. I've watched a lot of TV and shows. And all of them eventually bore me or I need a break from them. Not Babylon 5. This arc is just one reason.
We get the first glimpse of their death in S1/E1: Midnight on the Firing Line. We had no idea that when it actually happened, they would die as best friends / heroes. G'Kar trying to save Delenn/Sheridan from Mollari's keeper, under Mollari's order.

I love that! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for letting everyone know

A most excellent & beautiful ending to the story!
But NOT... on the same side of the road. Do you understand?
Lando: "I'm sorry G'Kar.
G'Kar: "My people can never forgive your people but I can forgive you."
I still tear up at those lines.
This was one of the THE best character arcs ever written for any scifi series. The pair started as enemies only to become the best of friends.
in the end, they killed each other in order to break the cycle of hate.
I would say it's one of the best character arcs for ANY series, TV or film!
Not just for science fiction any series
Emporer Mollari paid the penalty that Mr Mordan predicted. He has alien monitor/creature attached to him until G-Kar mercifully took his Life.
i dunno if they are frends......mutual respect
I'll always think that it was G'Kar's forgiveness that gave Londo the strength to face what the Drakh had in store for him. Yes, he was doing it for his people, but I think G'Kar's forgiveness gave Londo hope.
I never thought of it that way, but it's a very good possibility!
"As the humans say, up yours die" made me love g'kar. Always makes me crack up
what are those earth creatures called ?? long build wet feet go quakk ! cats !! yes ...

londo always made me laugh
Lando - "I hate my life."
g'kar - "So do I".

You forgot the scene from "A View From the Gallery" when one maintenance tech says to the other "So when did those two get married? "
I was going to use it, but had to cut it to keep the video the length I wanted.

"I... can forgive... you." I get tears every time.
It shows how far G'Kar and Londo have come.
The shock on Vir's face when Mollari says "I'm sorry, G'kar" tells you just how profound that moment was.
Babylon 5 is one of the greatest TV shows ever made, and is my favorite sci-fi one.
Glad I met both actors.
Cool.

*not too focused on effects or "ThE mEsSaGe"...
londo: there are no Ys in "liberties".
g'kar: go away. go repress someone else.
londo: as you wish. :)
one of the best lines!
The most perfect depiction of enemies to friends in any sci-fi. B5 is so special.
I loved their relationship. By the end of the series...I would not call them best buds....but they had grudging mutual respect for each other.
A perfect pairing of characters and actors, their shared long arc IS something of legends.
Ngl, the elevator scene is probably the best scenes on TV. It's so well done.
Which one? G'Kar had three get "elevator" scenes in the series. First, when he and Londo are insulting each other waiting for the elevator. Second, when he runs into Vir in the elevator after their war stared. And third, when they thought they would die in the elevator.
"As the humans say, Up yours"😁

"I don't know. Do I look like a chef to you?"
True enemies and then they became true friends.
"Up yours, die"
Fucking funniest quote
lmaof he says guy, Up yours Guy!
My favourite part of Londo's and G'Kar's relationship was when they were trapped in the lift! I crack up everytime I watch that episode.
"I hate my life."
"So do I."
"SHUT! UP!"
They were the 2 most interesting characters on Babylon 5.
It might not go in here but the moment G'kar buys him a drink in the early series, the look of horror Londo has, when he realises just how badly his actions have messed everything up. I think that's part of the moment when Londo realises that G'kar can be a good person.
What Great Actors!
The scene in the elevator made me laugh so much.
Those two could have been B5's version of Statler and Waldorf.
Lol😂
"Could have been"? They WERE!

Not Babylon 5. This arc is just one reason.
"I hear you!" hehehe
Two fantastic actors!!!
Two of the best id not the hest characters in Babylon 5. I love how their relationship develops.
Really the only reason I watched Babylon 5. If it looked like they weren’t in the episode, u
I usually tuned out.
“So, how long do you think they’ve been married?”
Brilliant series, loved these characters 😍
This compilation clip could benefit from their final encounter. “Are you there my old friend?”
You're right. I'm a little annoyed that I didn't think of that now. :/
The worst enemies can become the greatest friend's
Damn, at 1:35 almost thought it was a Jem Hadar, lol.
Not ugly enough.
Very, well done.
Thank you.
✌️
Die beiden sind wie JIng und Jang wie Wasser und Feuer, wie ein Mungo und eine Schlange.
The elevator scene is on of my favorite.
Andreas Katsulas could have read the phone book out loud and I would have sat at his feet in rapt attention. RIP.
"There's nothing you can learn from my feet." 😜
Jokes aside, I know what you mean. He had a real presence to him that really got you to pay attention.
These two characters developed differently but eventually got to the same place.
G-Kar to Mollari" You no longer exist in my Universe. Pray we don't notice each other again." There a few people I love telling that...
We get the first glimpse of their death in S1/E1: Midnight on the Firing Line. We had no idea that when it actually happened, they would die as best friends / heroes. G'Kar trying to save Delenn/Sheridan from Mollari's keeper, under Mollari's order.
The Odd Couple in space.
During the series Peter Jurasik and Andreas Katsulas did an infomercial about the Narn Bible. 4:23
BEST OF FIENDS !!!!!!!!!!!
Forgot to include the scene of Gkar strangling Mollari..
I always thought it was "up yours ... guy" not "up yours ... die"
Too many fishes, but no one for me. Heheh story of my life G-Kar, story of my life... 😢😅
It's sad that TNT didn't want to continue the series.
Impecible!
u forgot the scene where they kill each other...it should have been here full circle and closure.
And, as it turns out, a final act of friendship, and not rage, as Londo had long thought.
I wasn't a huge fan of the series, but these two are pure gold!
the trapped in elevator scene had even more that made it totally awesome... just saying...
👍👍👍❤❤❤
This make me wanna watch battle star again
Please reboot the show! Game of thrones in space before there was a game of thrones tv show !
PALS.
