I can understand your frustration Steve, on such days I leave the tripod at home and instead of searching for those great compositions I take what catches my eye handheld. Yes I return home with more images that I wanted but somewhere in amongst the bunch there are a few that are keepers. I do need to crop to get the image I want but I enjoyed the walk, the beauty and the challenge. I think you came back with some lovely images so your time was well spent
despite the light didn't,t appear you must still be happy with frost and foggy conditions, the images seem to have a soft pastel painting affect to them, really nice mate.
Shame about the lack of light Steve, but you still came away with some lovely images. The challenge of woodland photography certainly makes it the most rewarding when everything does go in our favour with the conditions. So many opportunities for unique images draws me back to the woodland more and more these days
Lovely pastel colours ... doesn't half suit birch. Yon 'different' tree looks like a birch too ... 2 main species of lowland birch silver birch and downy birch ... the latter being less pendulant and 'spikier' than the former amongst other things
Lovely images Steve. How can conditions be so good yet so difficult? There's a couple there so close to being dribblers just lacking that little bit of light. Great day none the less. Thanks for sharing mate.

Great images. What kind of tripod and head do you use?
Thanks Ken, the tripod is an inorral one and the gear head is a kAF one, there’s a link in the description for 10% off 👍
Great stuff as always Steve. You need a TH-cam hat
