- The Photographer's Dilemma: Waiting for the Perfect Light - Landscape Photography
This week myself and some of the F/7.1 group travel to the River Brathay. I was hoping to recapture an image I took in 2021. Treated to the most incredible conditions, fog, autumn colours and unexpectedly frost, all I needed was the Perfect light.. Which really put me in true photographers dilemma.. do I stand in position waiting for the perfect light or do I move on an seek other compositions which were more conducive to the conditions.

Utterly Sublime...my highest praise.
Thank you so much 🙂
Every one of those images was print worthy
Thanks so much, very kind of you to say!
What amazing conditions. As I commented on Steve's vlog, we all head out to hopefully capture maybe 2-3 portfolio images a year (well I do 😊) but you managed to achieve that and more in one location. Hard to choose a favourite but I imagine they'll look stunning as prints
Thanks so much Paul, like you if I can get maybe 2-3 a year that I consider portfolio level I'm happy. Everything just came together beautifully that morning. I've printed a few of them so far and have to say they look stunning.
These get better all the time. Brilliantly done. Excellent, other than Dave keep interrupting.
Gonna smash right thorough 1k subs, and become one of the few bigger landscape photographers who present videos like a real human.
Thanks so much mate, means a lot, that Dave is a pain in the ass 😂
The images in this video are amazing. We seldom have fog where I live in Central Canada so I am very jealous. Cheers, Keith
Thanks so much Keith, we don't get these conditions too often, but Canada I'm sure makes up for it with it's incredible scenery
Stunning mate. Some absolute gems in that set. I do believe Darren said we were there last week. Hardly recognisable without the snow.
Thanks mate, yeah it's the same location you took some of your photos from. Cracking spot
Phew... you didn't bag one portfolio image, think you might have got a sackfull there Martin.. fabulous collection a what a morning. atb Al
Thank you Al, very kind of you to say, a morning I'll remember for a while.
Excellent video Martin & fantastic images. Can’t beat those conditions 👌👍. PS, took the plunge & ordered the geared head.😃
Thanks Mark, really appreciate it, it's rare I'm so lucky with the conditions. Well done on the geared head purchase, hope you love it just as much as I do.
Well worth the wait, wow, well done for your persistence, great work as always 👍
Thanks mate, what a morning!!
I would absolutely think that was worth the wait to get that image. The summer image was beautiful, but this autumn one was a real stunner Martin! I hope that print hangs on quite a few walls around the UK! Great video mate!
Thanks so much Paul, printed a few times now and will be putting on my website for sale tonight 🙂
Wow, incredible conditions! You came away with some really nice images from this Martin, great work! :) S
Thanks so much Sam, I really appreciate you watching and commenting. Rare I get such conditions.
Lovely images Martin. You did good, well worth waiting for. A beautiful morning, being spoilt for choice was the only problem. I hope you've got space on your walls for those. 👌
Thanks so much Colin, it was a great morning with some great company. I've printed a few already, need to convince Mrs H to allow me some wall space 😂
Some really superb images there Martin, the waiting was worth it........
Thanks so much Graham, in the end I think so too.
Some belters there Martin. Hope you’ve got one of those framed and on the wall at home. Something magical about those frosty mornings
Thanks Anthony, printed a few out, yet to frame though 😁 love mornings like this
Beautiful mate you captured the conditions perfectly. It was nice to relive an amazing morning with some good mates.
Thanks mate, it was an incredible morning and great to spend it with you guys.

Every image a winner 👍 Worth the wait and the potential Panda stampede 😀 There is some serious envy going on over here!
Thank you Garry, it was one of those super rare mornings where everything came together. Good job the pandas were friendly.
Very nice Mr, shame I couldn't make it that weekend.
Thanks mate, gutted you couldn't make it, would love to try and get everyone together, unfortunately it's not always possible
