Tip for using Alox: When it gets old and doesn't want to flow, add some mineral spirits to thin it out. Toss one of your buckshot right into the bottle with it, and shake it up.

Wade...Have you ever heard of 45-45-10 lube...45% alox..45% Johnsons paste wax and 10% mineral spirits. Great stuff! Not tacky like alox. The procedure to make it is on youtube. I too dust them with graphite. A little of this stuff goes a long way too...
Great Video Wade, wanted to know if you had ever tumbled your buckshot in Moly and or used it in the Alox. I would imagine it would have much the same effect may not require the alox to keep it on the pellets
I'm really enjoying your videos! I'm going to school to get my gunsmithing certification right now and this week we've been learning about casting bullets. This has been some really great information and it's been nice to watch another hillbilly like myself. Thanks and I hope you have a great week sir!
Wondering if you could do a video on the best load for home defense? I have seen your videos on home defense but I'm more trying to focus on velocity from a 18" barrel. Maybe a slightly faster burning powder? some load to achieve the highest velocity without going over pressure. Not really worried about the pattern at typical home defense range.
Velocity per se is not a limiting factor for Buckshot at any vaguely plausible defensive distance . Even subsonic Buckshot medium size or larger will have more than plenty penetration . More moderate velocity = less recoil = better control = faster additional shots , in case of multiple threats , or ( gasp) missing on dodging and weaving target .
Thanks Bubba. Love your videos. Keep them coming please. Have you thought about the TSS? I know it’s probably to expensive for most but you guys take your ammo serious.
For centerfire boolit casting, I use BLL instead of straight LLA... It is: 30% LLA or Xlox /30% Lundmark Liquid Wax /40% Mineral spirits it is stil one or two drops for a couple hundred boolits. I saw the first drop of straight LLA and thought, that is 400 boolits of Alox!!! Spread it out - couple drops of the BLL and you are good.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS. YOU HAVE BEEN A BLESSING TO ME IN RELOADING THINGS. I AM WORKING OUT A RELOAD PROGRAM THAT WILL HELP US WITH OUR NEEDS. Ok I bought 2 Marty’s molds . Hell what the hell is wrong with them? The nice bolts burned through my welders gloves dropped the mold had a very nice burn on my had . Marty are you seeing this ! Why did you make these with such short handles ? The handles need to be a lot longer . I will probably get a longer handle but I would love to stick these handles up your yea you get the idea . I did not get very far filled the mold maybe 5 times.
Love all your reloading tips. I'd like to see how you do traditional buffered reloads. Best buckshot in my gun is Remington 12 pellet #0. I'm getting 10" patterns at 40 yards with a LR Cremator choke. I'm afraid they will discontinue it and would like to recreate it but finding fiber wad loads is difficult. I've seen other videos of yours with those types of loads but only in 3" hulls.
In normal times , huge variety of wads of all imaginable flavors are available from Ballistic Products, Precision Reloading, etc . Alas ,during the ammo & component panic at time of posting this comment , about the only type in stock are Felt Wads .
Have you ever tried fooling around with spider 🕷️ load's??we take split shot weights and connect them with 15 lb test and when you shoot it it comes out like a spider web I've never patterned them or tried them on Deer I did use one on hogs and only out of a muzzle loader

No trouble at all! I have gotten excellent patterns out of .660 constriction! Any lead buckshot can be fired thru a choke that is rated for 'lead shot only' and that includes plated shot!
Hey bro outdoors, I just want to thank you’all for making videos that are educational and most important, no foul language. I’m so amazed how you get those patterns as tight as you do. Alox/ graphite wont change the size of the shot but powder coating might? What purpose drives the choice?
Can you do this to steel shot? I wanted to coat #3,4,5 & 6 shot. Will work on it the same as lead.

TY Wade! Have you ever seen where that graphite and alox has ruined any deer meat ??
None of that stuff is toxic at all. Never heard of any trouble with meat contaminated by those components!
If you like reloading shotgun loads from scratch, B. R. O is it.. also pay homage to Buck and slug reloaders & fortune cookie

Hello sir. What kind of buck shot would pattern the best on a full choke h&r
Thats like asking what car gets best fuel economy using only Exon gas
Is the graphite purely to help the alox shot not stick together? Does it serve any other tangible purpose? Cheers
Graphite is just super slick!! I use both and see almost no leading in my barrel or chokes... good stuff!

Has anyone ever spray painted buckshot with hunter orange and then be able to see it going down range?
Yes it works great! Also helps you pick up an extra target or two when you're shooting trap and sporting clays. Turns lost targets into Xs.
