Spectrier wouldn’t be able to just throw out attacks against teams with ttar because even if you do burn it on the switch you’re still taking 50% in chip minimum. There’re other pursuit trappers that might’ve gotten some footing if pursuit existed (I think scarf weavile would actually be really interesting this generation considering all the faster Pokémon weak to getting trapped by it) but even just having ttar be able to force its health down to half would do a lot to make spectrier worse.
Even in National Dex, the gen 8 tier where pursuit is legal, spectrier is being considered for a suspect test because its still overcentralizing and difficult to deal with. Pursuit just means it uses will o wisp more often to burn the trappers.

That is very true, I remember trying to run LO gren-ash and getting basically stalled out till i eventually got revenged by a mach punch from an AV conk of all things. I didnt even have a switch in to it because of an unlucky crit i lost my lele earlier in the game. And ik that you can tell if its LO right away but some people like myself have short attention spans and forget little details like that, maybe thats why im never higher than 1,700 on PS

imo pursuit should have been normal type. that wouldn't give a disadvantage to psychic/ghost types and would maintain the whole ghosts being immune to trapping thing.
The most powerful I’ve ever seen pursuit be was adaptability weavile in gen 6 and 7 almost any ability. That shit forced constant 50/50s and just Ohko everything with pursuit
All the moves that benefit from reading switches are my favorite to use. RBT counter, pursuit, focus punch, payback; its always a wonderful feeling when you land it right

Counter can be used to get a surprise KO on an offensive pokemon, but Bide gives the opponent the opportunity to switch to something else (such as a ghost-type, which is *usually* immune to bide outside of gens 1 and 4.) Additionally, counter is best used when taking a LOT of damage (such as an attack that deals >50% of your max hp,) but if you use Bide instead, the opponent can simply attack again and KO you.
I rember at one point early on in gen 4 I would use physical bulky gardevoir with will ô wisp to lure Ttar so starime didnt have to worry about its pursuit
But in cases like when your opponent is switching into a Slowbro and you dont want do be walled, wouldn't it be better to just double into something that threatens the Slowbro? Bc the cheap on Gliscor in that case didn't mattered at all

Crunch Pursuit Fire Blast Roar (instead of Superpower) TTar in Gen 4, specially defensive with Leftovers or Chople? I'm practically giving away sauce, "the meta changes" yeah yeah sure... That's why I use sets from Gen 1, 2, 3 and 5 in DPP and it works perfectly. Correct conversion is important tho

While the proliferation of ghost types is the most obvious effect of pursuit's removal, I feel like Palafin makes the loss of pursuit even more noticeable, especially since it really feels like it *should* have been balanced by the re-introduction of pursuit. Think about it: Palafin's entire gimmick is that it has to find a private place to transform into its super form, so what better way to balance it than the presence of a move that doesn't let the opponent freely escape it? Pursuit always seemed to me to be "shadow tag but fair." It can guarantee a hit on almost any target, but only with an 80BP dark move. You can't force them to take an earthquake, they can halve the damage by simply staying in and attacking, and opponents that aren't at immediate risk can simply cut their losses and switch out at the cost of damage (in fact, pursuit's effect means that whatever switches in isn't taking any damage.)
Removing Pursuit in gen 8 was one of the worst mistakes they could have made. If Pursuit was still in the game, Calyrex Shadow-rider wouldn't be so dominant in the meta of gen 8

u would see that the ash gren carries a life orb before U switch in.
