I feel like lore can be squeezed from this.
Like, under those normal eye sockets, there is a LOT more, sitting in the hollow skull, viewing how the human acts.
Those eyes can act like parasites, since Sans is a hollow skeleton (in most cases).
His personality and the way he acts may come from the eyes, as if the eyes are his very own brain.
But it really puts the monster in monster kind in Undertale.
NAHHHHHH THAT’S REALLY COOL. AND THEN THERE’D BE LIKE - THE PARASITES INSIDE THE ARM _AND_ LEGS? ONE EYE COMMANDS ALL OF THEM, AND THAT’S HOW SANS MOVES SO SMOOTH. AND IT’S ALSO THE REASON HE ALWAYS SMILES.
Wrong we usually can see the eyes flashing blue and yellow instead of just staying still so it must mean sans made a deal, got cursed or blinks so fast we don't see him changing his eyes

this is basically an au/at where sans made a deal with someone unknown, he then met the human in the usual fighting place, he let himself be slashed... In the eye, It then made his bad time eye slowly multiply, and then uh, the actual fight starts
