He started to become a beast after having been betrayed and his corpse compiled curses from the betrayal of trust. Vortigern isn't a beast and neither is the underworld insect (which is what oberon actually is).

His enkidu setup, while effective against the boss in terms of raw damage with black grail and threat against humanity, lacks sustain and survivability against curse resistance. Though this was negated upon initial tries thanks to Castoria, Merlin, Van and etc. The fact is that Enkidu lacks any debuff resistance (if castoria and the other buffers are down), to which some characters like King Hassan could have given him an easier time.
