Hmm! Yes that's right just another example when the government intervenes into this as it did in the 70s when they deregulated the industry which caused problems! #SMH
This is my uncle Terry, his brother that he's talking about in the video with the Peterbilt 359 is my dad! My dad and his brothers are all super hard working dudes that take pride in their line of work and love what they do and you can tell by the way Terry talks about his truck in this video. Very cool to see to see this.
Just based off this video I feel like your family would be great people to work for. Your uncle built a beautiful truck with a beautiful engine. Nothing is better than a CAT
Im super hard working too everybody trying to recruite me but i want to work for myself. If i can work hard for them i could do so for myself too. i wish i could learn the business like this guy. I am happy for him though. I am the first in my fam to do trucking. NICE truck!!!!
I'm always envious of those born into a close-knit family and just fit right in to whatever the business is, be it trucking, logging, farming, construction, etc. They just know where their place is in life and can focus on the simple enjoyments of life.
Asian Mai..... brother, keep doing what your doing. Super contagious personality and positive vibes. I appreciate that in you man!! And I appreciate what you do. I own 6 trucks and I always watch your show for new ideas and just confirmation sometimes that I'm doing the right things. Much respect my brother!!!
Nice ride. You can hear the love. Wife and ride. I loved driving, 30 years ago was not the money, no ac, no power steering, spring ride, heavy tarps. Was a career. Up to 120 hr week.
First, I would like to say that is a beautiful truck; the paint scheme is awesome with green/black, as the darker colors are broken up here and there with chrome and polished details. The rear bumper has a unique, kind of Gotham City theme going on, and I love it! Otherwise, as a "non commercial driver", I really liked how he mentioned the "triangle" to get back home as often as possible, and also how he talked about "the company wants you to drive this route", but you should be driving to maximize your potential, while considering revenue and time spent with family, or as some call it, the work/life balance.
Awesome. Wow what a truck. Blessings to that driver and his wife and family. Great people. Thank you for this video bro. Well done as always. Best wishes to all and stay safe out there.
I have a challenge for you, if you see this? I grew up as a truck drivers son and grew away from wanting to drive a truck. When I was a kid there is nothing I wanted more in life. Have you ever come across someone who had a reemergence in their love for the lifestyle ? I'll be 44 this year and thinking about going for it. I just cant stop thinking about it and want to go as far as maybe owning a small fleet some day. Anyway, i'd love to hear a similar situation straight from the horses mouth (if you can find one).
For what it's worth I'm 37 and I grew up in this industry. I fell away from it around 19 years old and returned to it around 32 years old. I now own six trucks, all old-school 379 flat tops. It's incredibly challenging running six trucks but very rewarding to see all the guys happy. Go for a brother chase your dreams
That dude has one nice old school Peter for sure , that is right The 400 cats were OK , But when they came out with 4 an quarter cat It was a very nice push rod cat if they was set up right , But he's right , That is how I was raised into trucking , That why I have no problems, For sure that dude there is a interesting person to talk to there No bullshit , He talks the way it is he does not have to make up words and stories
You can hate all you want and I've been driven since 1978 but I have a new kw o haul 52000 lbs in the box everyday an I get 7 mph at 72mph I cant argue with that
I love that guys enegy! He's probably going to watch his own episode. I have no doubt about it! God bless him and The Asian Mai Show for this fun video! 🙏

i like the 362 model cabover Peterbilt in the background. I dont care nor do i like all that low profile, full fender, low sunvisor, stretched out framed, no visible airhorns/clearance lights on top of the cab, short rubber tires. . . . . trucks that people do to their rigs! Im way to much "old school" in trucking, i guess
Absolutely gorgeous truck!! I love where he put “CRST”. They were based not far from where I used to work when I lived in Cedar Rapids area. I miss being in Iowa! Sure wish I could go drive, always was a lifelong dream!
I had no idea mega carriers accept old trucks without ELDs. That makes a ton of sense if he lives near one of their yards and needs to run trailers to their customers for the OTR guys running eLog to pick up and not waste hours.
I got on with landstar with my 99 fld, but i did have to buy the e log housing to use e logs while i was under them. I prefered to use paper logs but i dont run hard anyways so e logs are ok with me, i prefwe the freedom of paper logs because you can go to store or personal things wirhout worrying about running your pc drive 1 hour out. Plus getting with mega carriers suck because 1 ticket and they will put you out of service until their mechanic sees its good. You cant take ur truck to ur own mechanic to inspecr.
Anymore I've been noticing a lot of carriers rather have the old school trucks because they know the truck will Pull the load there with no problems , Old school trucks they are like the Energizer Bunny rabbit They run run run run
@@terryhockaday4905 CRST used to offer me $1 per mile loads and steal ever load that was available, I never hauled that stuff, I run different Lanes now so I'm all good now

Electrictronic emmission trucks are a disaster. 40yrs in trucking and I will never drive a computer controlled truck. Old school manual Engines keep going when the other junk is setting. Ran these trucks for years and always reliable.
The difference is so big and potential to make money is so great that once you get a old truck you’ll be kicking yourself why you didn’t do it when you first started. I suffered for 2 years with a Cascadia garbage truck and upgraded to a old Classic XL. I am so glad I did that now I have enough money to pay off my house and park it to go on vacation when the roads get a little ice on them.

Another great story...keeping trucking alive!
Ive had 4 3406b cats back in the 80s 400,425, 310, all were great engines! Lots of power!
That Pete is candy sweet!
Best Facebook video that I’ve seen on memory. He’s a stellar man. From the old days.
I’ve always wanted a jammy little long hood day cab. So nice

Seems like an awesome guy
Now that's a really trucker , I have 35 OTR
So in all seriousness, how does he use the splitters? By foot?
Just reach down and pull it up. Idk if its a 13 or 18 but one is a hi/lo and the other has to be to split the gears.
He said it's a 15 speed. One is for high/Low range. The other is for deep reduction.
