I don’t think the Canadian monarch can do much to actually help indigenous people; “why have it at all?” is the right question.

Regardless of how she felt, a Constitutional monarch is not allowed to dictate to the House of Commons or any elected member there in. They have the right to... " The right to be consulted, the right to encourage, and the right to warn." Those rights can only be expressed behind closed doors, so what ever her thought actually were, the public was not allowed to know. Hardly anyone seems to know this. A constitutional Monarch has to obey these rules. They are representing neutrality and the principles of the democracy they represent and that they must be upheld. That's it. With the appointment of our Governor General the Honourable Mary Simon, I think these must have been the most lengthy, informative and direct sharings of this situation historically and currently with the Queen,. I;m sad that they didn't have more time together. I feel, the King Charles will want to continue that conversation. What they don;t know, due to reliance on politicians of the day here is an opportunity to educate. King Charles appears open to that. If that opportunity is not taken, then it will be missed fro another generation or more. The Pope was given a great deal of opportunity. Could their not be even more done now with King Charles? I hope people still have the energy and desire to make that happen. Not as entertainment, but in serious discussions. Yet again and again until progress is made. Having a Constitutional Monarch is nothing like having a autocratic Monarchy. We can see the disadvantages of a Republic directly south of us. The USA is almost on the edge of a civil war. A Constitutional Monarch does work hard in service, they do no as we have seen tend to retire, they do become living books of sorts, they do provide stability of the institution of government that other forms of government do not. In this turbulent world this is invaluable. This woman served for 7 decades plus. The Head of State being politically neutral and serving with restraint, is a powerful thing to have.

Settler Immigrants came to Turtle Island to escape from all the European turmoil and wars. Now, in a new setting they wish to reestablish what they escaped from, which includes the monarchy. Be a full Canadian and not a hyphenated Canadian!

As I understand it England is not catholic, Anglican which is close, but not the same. The Catholic and Anglican have been in turmoil since 1534. British Royalty were not allowed to marry catholics even till 2015. Aglicains are one of the Christian churches to appologize for colonization and residential institutions, as well as paid their agreed millions in restitution to survivors. The Anglican Church/faith also said they would continue to remind Canadian government to honor the treaties they took over at the 1982 signing of the constitution. At that time Canada became more independent of the crown limiting their real influence and control on treaties and in Canada as a whole. Residential institutions were created before the Queen came into power, and ended while she was on the throne. This is a very big distinction because the Queen is the head of the Anglican Church ⛪️ her church was one of the quicker churches to appologize fully and start reconciliation in Canada. The catholics of course being the last without pay, and in Canada the United church which came from Evangelist Germany was the first to appologize and paid 25 million restitution.
As well the Queen, her heir (now king) and heir's son have been publicly apologizing and encouraging new relationships in many of their commonwealth colonies and working with them to become republics or more independent for at least the last quarter century. I feel as though those are all large feets within political systems that would fight every tooth and nail against anyone that would try and sway their pocket books and discrimination. The Queen herself was a woman in an all white male dominated stage for many years. How often do you think she was challenged at any mention of "radical" views she might have had, in public or closed doors? She also, I do believe, saw the longest time of peace in her commonwealth since world War 2. All things admirable.
